Sea of Stars free DLC ‘Throes of the Watchmaker’ launches May 20 - Gematsu
Sea of Stars free downloadable content “Throes of the Watchmaker” will launch on May 20 for all platforms, developer Sabotage Studio announced. It will adds over eight hours of new areas, music, dungeons, mini-games, enemies, bosses, and puzzles, including new playable classes for Valere and Zale, and new playable character Arty.
Here is an overview of the content, via Sabotage Studio:
“Throes of the Watchmaker” returns to one of the most intriguing characters encountered in Sea of Stars‘ main adventure—the genius inventor known as the Watchmaker, architect of the Clockwork Castle and creator of Wheels, a tabletop pastime enjoyed throughout Sea of Stars’ world. The downloadable content explores a fascinating invention by the Watchmaker, the miniature clockwork world of Horloge, a land threatened by a cursed carnival. Zale and Valere must adapt to Horloge’s peculiar rules to fully realize their mastery of Sun and Moon powers, the abilities they’ve refined since the beginning of Sea of Stars‘ central journey to stop the Fleshmancer with Eclipse Magic.
This post-game bonus adventure downloadable content is designed around a self-contained progression loop featuring completely new classes, skills and combos to master for Zale, who trades his signature sword to become a skillful juggler, and Valere, who sets aside her trusty staff to dazzle as an acrobat. Throughout “Throes of the Watchmaker,” the duo fights alongside a new playable party member in Artificer, a mechanized, laser-wielding sharpshot. “Throes of the Watchmaker” features never-before-seen areas, puzzles and enemies throughout a compelling storyline wholly unique from Sea of Stars‘ core adventure. “Throes of the Watchmaker”‘s cinematic budget is equivalent to that of the main game, allowing Sabotage to richly realize key narrative moments and deliver a dense, delightful new tale spanning eight hours of new content. Crafted as a quest to enjoy after completing Sea of Stars‘ critical path, “Throes of the Watchmaker” is the perfect reason to begin a New Game+ playthrough or dive into the world of Sea of Stars for the first time ahead of this all-new journey arrives on May 20.
A stirring new score from Sea of Stars‘ Lead Composer, Eric W. Brown, accents the journey, with additional original songs composed in collaboration with Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger) who returns as a guest composer. “Throes of the Watchmaker” follows “Dawn of Equinox,” a separate free update which added local cooperative play, combat refinements, and more to Sea of Stars‘ celebrated campaign.
Sea of Stars is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam.

Time for another backlog report, August 2024 edition. As always, thoughts are below:
Mega Man X:
Both this and X2 I beat as part of the Legacy Collection bundle. At first I stuck to the idea that each ‘collection’ counted as a single game, with individual games being more like chapters. That’s why I didn’t write my thoughts on Battle Network 1 when I finished it. I realized however that if I thought that large-scale, I was never going to actually finish it, or any of the individual games.
So what exactly do I say about this game? It’s Chrono Trigger levels of revered. Even Arin ‘I refuse to read more than three words consecutively’ Hanson of Game Grumps fake calls the intro stage genius for how it visually teaches the player about wall jumps.
I can hardly say a bad word about this game, not just because it’s so enshrined in the top tens of SNES games ever, but because I genuinely agree that it’s a great, tight action platformer with some kick-ass music.
Mega Man X2:
Okay, Capcom proved they could innovate the Mega Man formula. Could they follow up?
Turns out yes. While I generally hold the music as overall inferior to X1, I still think that there’s some great tracks in here. (My personal favorite is Flame Stag’s Stage btw.)
As for the story, I think the tension of Zero’s lost parts is both a good way to add more personal stakes and a clever way to justify reviving a character that had died in the last game. Believe me, it happens more than I’d like it to. Also, I took a screenshot of this specific dialogue because it is both a brilliantly dick-ish move and really stupid of Sigma to try and guilt trip X about his supposed failure. . . After he’d already beaten the X-Hunters and recovered Zero’s parts.
The stages themselves are a lot of fun to go through, with the exception of a few of the X-Hunter stages.
Trails of Cold Steel:
When discussing the Trails series, Cold Steel is the arc that everyone points to and says “Trash Anime Harem game.” That is not my issue with this game.
I think where I generally take issue is the scope. I know that’s a weird thing to say about these games considering just how grandiose and meticulous they are about every single detail, but it’s the most general way to put it. The cast is large, the maps are large, the grand tale of political intrigue is large. The strange part is that for all of its largeness, it could have been cut down by a quarter and still be able to do a lot of what it sets out to do.
Having the cast split themselves in half is an effective way of rotating the spotlight so that almost everyone gets a turn, but if they just compressed one or two character ideas they could have ensured that everyone had more room in their niche.
For that matter, the gameplay has also been expanded and shrunk down. The addition of combat links is a fun idea that makes you think about party comp and which characters pair well with others, but in this first outing, they don’t really do much. The fact that the game hides the two extra payoff options until a third and halfway through the game also doesn’t help. Where the series shrinks is in the orbment system. The master quartz return, and they’re just as fascinating as ever, but the quartz themselves have taken a turn for the bland. Rather than have each gem hold an element value, and arts appearing on characters as you build them, arts and passive bonuses have been divided in two. Except not really because high-level quartz give both. What this means from a design perspective is that players don’t have to keep track of seven different values building up a cast of 11 total playable characters. (Again, you could have cut that by half.) What this means from a gameplay perspective however is that orbments are much less interesting to tinker around with, turning what was a miniature puzzle into a simple best-in-slot. For a 60+ hour game to have one of its core systems be stripped like this, it makes the game feel more monotonous than it really is.
Despite all these general complaints, I honestly can’t recommend it enough. The soundtrack is just as good as it’s ever been, the plot does in fact try to strike a balance between zoomed-out political intrigue and zoomed-in character drama, and the combat is still among the best turn-based systems.
I even liked the bonding points for what they were. Having to chose which characters were worth your investment was a bit itchy, but the one-on-one spotlights were nice. That they also increase Link levels is also a very nice gameplay-story-integration that I will never say no to.

[ Faction Paradox / Doctor Who ] The best worst thing about Faction Paradox are the puns and how theres only three of them Those being: - Anarchitects (Anarchy Architects) - Nechronomancers (Chrono + Necromancer) - Parablox (Paradox Blocks) The last one being a LEGO parody which i never really understood: do the blocks actually turn into an miniature black hole when the set is build? Im sure there are more if you count things like The Unkindness, even tho its not actually a pun I wonder if its possible to write a story featuring a Nechronomancer tricking / trapping an attacking Anarchitect into a Parablox set? Also also In Doctor Who Series 13 we got a line about a War between Time and Space Which sounds very creative and fun I like the idea of an anime style battle of Time Manipulation versus Space Manipulation You would have to limit the powers and abilities in order to make it fair and dont have thrm get an instant win by shunting the opponent into an alternate timeline / parallel universe The set of rules should have stuff like Time Freeze Stop not working in Pocket Dimensions and etc etc etc

ChronoCrate: Where Nature Meets Precision

In an age where timepieces represent more than just function, the way we store and protect them speaks volumes about our taste and attention to detail. A wooden watch box is not just a storage solution; it’s an extension of your personal style — blending craftsmanship, elegance, and timelessness. Among the many options available, ChronoCrate stands out as a prime example of where nature meets precision. Whether you're a collector or a connoisseur of classic timepieces, this is the companion your wristwatches deserve.
Why Choose a Wooden Watch Box?
Watches, especially mechanical and automatic ones, are not just accessories; they are miniature engineering marvels. And just like a luxury car requires a premium garage, your watches need an equally elegant home. That’s where the charm and utility of a wooden watch box come in. Wood offers natural insulation, long-lasting durability, and an aesthetic appeal unmatched by synthetic materials. Each grain tells a story, each finish adds character, and each box becomes a timeless piece of décor.
More importantly, it’s not just about protection—it’s about presentation. A finely made handmade luxury watch box for men provides a platform that enhances the beauty of your watches while keeping them secure, organized, and ready to wear.
The Art of Handmade Luxury
What separates an average watch case from a handmade luxury watch box for men is the craftsmanship involved. At ChronoCrate, each box is handcrafted using premium wood like walnut, maple, or teak. This ensures not just strength, but a refined texture and visual warmth that machine-made products simply cannot replicate.
The interior of the box is lined with soft, plush fabric to prevent scratches, and each compartment is meticulously designed to cradle watches of all sizes. Whether it's a slim dress watch or a chunky chronograph, each piece fits perfectly, as if the box was made specifically for it. The exterior finish—whether matte or gloss—enhances the natural beauty of the wood while providing a luxurious touch that complements any room, office, or closet.
Function Meets Elegance
Collectors need more than just beauty—they need functionality. That’s why the best wooden watch box for collectors offers features like:
Multiple compartments for a growing collection
Secure locks or magnetic closures for added protection
Glass display tops to showcase your pieces without exposure to dust
Removable cushions or dividers for flexibility and custom organization
ChronoCrate incorporates all these elements into one seamless design. It's built not just to store watches, but to celebrate them.
A Gift That Lasts a Lifetime
When you gift someone a wooden watch box, you're not just giving them an accessory; you're giving them a legacy piece. It’s the perfect gift for Father’s Day, anniversaries, weddings, or birthdays. For men who value their watches, a handmade luxury watch box for men is thoughtful, functional, and stylish. It shows that you understand their passion for horology—and that you’ve chosen something as refined as their taste.
Sustainability and Style
In today’s world, sustainability matters. Wood is a renewable resource, and many brands, including ChronoCrate, source their materials responsibly. When you choose a wooden watch box, you're making an eco-friendly choice without compromising on luxury. It’s a step toward sustainable living—without sacrificing aesthetics or quality.
Why ChronoCrate?
The name ChronoCrate isn’t just branding—it’s a philosophy. “Chrono” comes from the Greek word for time, and “Crate” implies a crafted space to store and protect. Together, they symbolize a curated experience for your most cherished timepieces.
What sets ChronoCrate apart is its dedication to excellence. Each box undergoes rigorous quality checks, ensuring that the hinges are smooth, the finishes are flawless, and the interiors are plush and accommodating. Whether you're a beginner with two watches or a seasoned collector with twenty, ChronoCrate has a size and style to match your needs.
Final Thoughts
In a world that’s always rushing forward, a watch reminds us to value every second. And a wooden watch box reminds us that how we store our time is just as important as how we spend it.
ChronoCrate isn’t just a container—it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, luxury, and heritage. For those who believe that every detail counts, and every timepiece deserves a home as refined as itself, there’s no better choice than the best wooden watch box for collectors.
Let your watches rest in style, precision, and warmth—let them rest in ChronoCrate.

Fizzlewick’s Ritual Kitchen – Pilot Episode: “The Infernal Sizzle”
Opening Scene:
The camera zooms in on a vast, steam-filled kitchen, surrounded by ethereal glowing meats hanging from floating butcher hooks. The kitchen table is laid out with a strange assortment of ingredients, some of which hum with arcane energy. There are enchanted stoves that churn out mystical vapors, and a cloud of magical smoke lingers in the air, rippling with heat and chaos.
Narrator (voiceover):
"Welcome to Fizzlewick’s Ritual Kitchen, the only culinary competition where ingredients are as magical as the chefs, and flavor can bend reality. Tonight, our contestants face a challenge that will stretch their minds, their taste buds—and their very souls."
Cue magical reveal:
Fizzlewick Befeatur appears in a puff of beef tallow smoke, sitting atop a giant meatball chair, wearing a sauce-stained apron and a devilish grin.
Fizzlewick:
"Ah, welcome, my glorious gastronomic gladiators! Tonight, we set the world’s taste buds on fire! I’ve got a challenge that will make your stomachs churn and your spirits soar. But first, let’s meet our contestants!"
Contestant Intros (quick clips):
Savannah “The Meat Magician” Brix: A pyromancer who makes sausages sizzle with elemental fire. She once grilled a dragon to perfection.
Vladimir “The Brine Warden” Kratz: A somber, salt-baked chef who claims to have once preserved an entire army using only vinegar.
Milo “The Butcher of Luck” Crag: A luck-wielding chef who can make any cut of meat into a prize-winning dish, even if he starts with burnt toast.
Clara “The Saucy Sorceress” Bellwether: A sauce enchantress who claims to have brewed a potion that can make any dish sing.
Gerald “The Ghostly Gourmand” Morrow: A ghost chef who serves his food with a side of mystery. Allegedly, he once cooked for a god and got away with it.
Challenge 1: The Meat of Time
Fizzlewick:
"Tonight’s challenge is called The Meat of Time. For this, you will be cooking with my Infernal Marrow of Chrono-Beef, an ancient cut of meat that is known to bend time itself! It’s up to you to cook it correctly, or else… well, it might start cooking you! You have 60 minutes to prepare your dish, but beware… for each of you will face a time-warping sabotage in the middle of your cooking!"
Savannah (nervously eyeing the Chrono-Beef):
"What… exactly does ‘bend time’ mean in this context?"
Fizzlewick:
"Oh, just wait. The cut’s got a nasty habit of making things go backwards and forwards in time. Just… don’t overcook it, or you’ll get a taste of your own past mistakes!”
The Time-Warping Sabotage:
The timers are set, and the competitors begin cooking. Each contestant has their own station filled with fiery ovens, glowing cauldrons, and ethereal, time-warped cuts of meat.
Fizzlewick:
"Let the Chaos commence!”
(He raises his meat cleaver and slams it down into the chopping block. A burst of magic explodes in the air.)
Contestant Reactions to Time-Warping Sabotages:
Savannah:
The kitchen begins to flicker. One moment, her knife is in her hand, the next, it’s on the floor a foot away. A sizzling sausage on her grill flickers between fully cooked and raw.
"This is maddening! I’ve got sausages that cook backwards!"
Vladimir:
The jar of pickles beside him bursts open, spilling a dark, bubbling brine. The brine forms a swirling portal.
"Why am I looking at last week’s pickle jar again?! You foul, stinking spirits, stay back!”
He tries to force his brine into a pan, but the jar’s contents freeze time around him, trapping him in an endless moment of uncertainty.
Milo:
Suddenly, everything on his station disappears, only to reappear in double: two plates, two knives, and two flames. He lifts his hands in a daze.
"What is this? Double the luck? Or just double the disaster?"
Clara:
The sauce she’s stirring starts to bubble uncontrollably, forming miniature, sentient flames that dance around the kitchen.
"Oh no, the sauce is alive—and it’s making my meat scream!"
She tries to calm it by singing, but the sauce insists on singing back, giving her no peace.
Gerald:
The ghostly wisp around his stove gets out of control and starts flitting through the time loop, freezing his steaks in mid-air. He finally grabs one in frustration.
"This is the last time I cook with unverified spectral cuts!"
The Final Countdown
Time runs out! The competitors are called to the center of the stage. Fizzlewick steps forward, inspecting their final creations.
Fizzlewick:
"And now, the moment of truth. Will your dishes be divine, or will they be destroyed by the spirit of time itself? Only I, Fizzlewick Befeatur, can decide!”
Judgment Time:
Each chef presents their dish to the panel.
Savannah: “Infernal Time-Cooked Sausage with Chrono-Charred Vegetables.” The sausage crackles with a time-warping glow. The plate moves in and out of reality, flashing between well-done and medium rare.
Vladimir: “Pickled Brine Time-Warped Beef Stew.” It has a rich, tangy bite, but it tastes like it’s been eaten and reheated five times. The meat is still shivering with its journey through time.
Milo: “Double-Luck Marrow and Sage Infusion.” Every bite holds two flavors: sweet and salty, but sometimes in reverse order. It's both brilliant and unsettling.
Clara: “Sizzling Sorceress’ Secret Sauce with Chrono-Seared Steak.” The sauce bubbles with a dark, spicy intensity—yet tastes of memories of old dishes long forgotten.
Gerald: “Ghostly Beef Phantasms.” His dish glows faintly, and the meat is delicate. It’s a haunting experience, but maybe too… ethereal?
Fizzlewick’s Final Judgement
Fizzlewick (dripping a mix of blood sauce from his nose):
"It’s time for the verdict, my culinary warlocks!"
Savannah, your sausage was a disaster, but I can't resist the flavor chaos—it was as wild as a fire-breathing cow. Well done, for surviving time itself!"
Vladimir, your stew... while great in concept, the brine loop nearly made me puke. Your flavor control could use more of my magic, yes?
Milo, your double-luck? Twice the flavor but also twice the bad luck. You’re safe, for now.
Clara, I’ll admit, your sauce dances like a wild spell. However, your beef is too… spirit-heavy. I sense some dark magic in there.
And Gerald—your ghosts didn’t even let me finish my meal. But it’s intriguing. You’re safe this week, but do not haunt me again!"
Winner:
Savannah “The Meat Magician” Brix, for her creative use of fire and wild sausages that defied time itself.
Fizzlewick:
"Savannah, my fiery little flame! Your sausages may have had a time-splitting effect, but they lit up my senses. For that, I dub you the Ritual Kitchen’s First Champion! For your prize, you shall get a bottle of Chaos Sauce that never runs out… as long as you keep the spoon in your pocket!"
Next Week’s Teaser:
"Will a cursed slow-cooked chicken bring our chefs to their knees? Will time stop completely? And what magic will emerge from the kitchen next? Find out next time on Fizzlewick’s Ritual Kitchen!”
Fizzlewick (with a wink):
"Remember, cooks: if it can be chewed, it can be changed! So get your magic in gear and your pans sizzling for next week's chaotic cook-off!"
End of Pilot Episode.
Would you like to expand on the rest of the show’s plot, bring in recurring elements, or create a cooking competition twist for the contestants?

I see a lot of industrial equipment conversions in this kit's future.

someone asked so, here’s where im at right now with the mini painting. ive only got the one guy fully based out right now because he was my test run of figuring out what i wanted to do/how id end up with them all.
im also leaving the sorcerer for last because hes both my favorite of the group and the most complicated. also i havent figured out exactly what i want to do to color his cape. im thinking a black color + some glitter for the same starry effect im putting in the blue areas.
fine details and highlights to be added later i think. idk. this is my first batch of minis.

The uniform of the antagonists of my visual novel.
They’re the Chronologians, the followers of Chronos-Aeon, who entrapped Phanes-Protogonos inside a miniature universe known as the Cosmic Egg.

The new Chronos Pattern Ironcrawler is quite interesting from GW, as they will be making it off an existing plastic kit and just upgrading with resin from FW. Do you like the idea of a mixed kit, or just not going to mess with it? . . . . . #warhammer40k #warhammer #40k #ageofsigmar #miniature #miniaturewargaming #wargaming #warmongers #paintingwarhammer #miniaturepainting #art #tabletopgaming #hobby #spikeybits #paintingminis #new40k #aos #eisenhorn #blacklibrary #necromunda #paintingtutorial #forgeworld
