the under the table scene is even more compelling when we factor in all that has been said/shown regarding time/urgency in this season especially as it relates to claire/sydney.
carmy makes this rash decision to give ciscero this crazy timeline and then whenever we see claire after that, there’s a visible clock nearby.
bc carmy’s wasting time he doesn’t even HAVE!
fast forward to the afternoon of the opening. carmy asks sydney to help him fix the table.
similarly to how he asked her to help him fix the beef and create the bear.
once the table is fixed, they lay under it like they have all the time in the world to speak in hushed, gentle reassuring tones to one another only roughly TWO hours before their restaurant's soft opening.
in that moment, they get to exist in the lull together, the pause, the space, the stillness. two people so accustomed to the crushing weight and pressure and frenetic energy of time.
on top of the fact they’d been separate/at odds/frustrated/abandoned/disappointed within that dynamic for the majority of the season up until that point.
time really gets to stand still when they’re together.
(and then claire sits at that same table hours later. the one unknowingly anchored thematically to time.)

Predictions I didn't make going into Season 3 of The Bear
I don't usually make prediction about how shows are going to go because I'm not great at separating the story I would tell from the story being told all the time.
BUT Going into season 3 of The Bear here are things I had a hunch we might see. Not things I necessarily wanted to see just where I thought the story might be going based on my own feel for story and behind the scenes clips. I’m starting with the non-SydCarmy things.
(I have only watched through S3e5 so I don’t know if all of these happen. I know some of them do not, but I’m including them because this isn’t about being right.)
Donna being there for Nat when she gives birth.
Claire haunting the narrative. Carmy and Claire fighting. A push to get Carmy and Claire back together. Although I did not think Natalie and Ciscero would be part of that.
Richie and Carmy being on the outs with each other for a while.
Flashbacks to how Carmy became who he is in the kitchen.
Carmy overcorrecting with his focus on the restaurant and becoming the thing he and Sydney did not want him to become in the kitchen, an overly demanding and demeaning boss. Yes, him being an asshole.
Sydney not signing the partnership agreement.
Sydney and Carmy competing in the kitchen.
Carmy and Sydney ending the season with a blowout fight.
Sydney telling Carmy he made her ‘best meal’ during that fight.
Carmy being hurtful and awful to her the way he was with Richie in S2e10.
The season would end in a bigger cliffhanger than season 2 because the end of season 3 is really the middle point of part 3.
Things I did not see coming, but which make perfect sense in light of my last prediction:
Doubling down on Claire.
Syd and Carmy not feeling like the heart of the show.

Futons | Welcome to Valaire Club
Almost 20 years after its founding, Valaire gives a nod to the music of its debut on Futons. Friendship interview.
Posted at 9:00 a.m.
It happens around the third minute of gotta go, the solar tribute to 1990s rap imagined by Valaire, in collusion with the American MC Ciscero. No, your ears are not playing tricks on you, what you hear is indeed an electric bass solo, colored by this pedal.…
