Kika
Like so many others, I fell in love with Kika's writing through All The President's Men. I came to it when it was almost finished--only two chapters left before it was completed--and I loved everything about it. I could sense the story as I read though her descriptions, and it felt like she'd created a completely new world that seamlessly melded with Collins' books. I loved her writing, and I let her know. We talked about it a lot, and I remember her telling me about her writing and planning processes and a few things she wished she'd done differently, but I couldn't imagine anything other than the beautiful story she'd created that put Peeta in charge and highlighted Katniss' maternal instinct. It's one of my all-time favorites, and I remember that summer of catching up on some of the seminal works in the fandom with a lot of fondness.
We developed a friendship over time, and I'm grateful for the texts and emails we exchanged. She helped me plan out a story I'll be expanding for @michbigbagofweird that I originally wrote for 2014's @fandom4lls, and I have twenty or so pages of our conversation printed. That email account is no longer active, so I'm extremely grateful for the hard copy. Her insights and suggestions were so helpful, and I loved her insistence that smut be involved! She sent some images to help, and I couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm. Because I'm shifting writing gears to focus on that story, I've been thinking of Kika a lot. I wish I'd reached out when I thought of it.
I also read All the Right Friends in All the Right Places, which was the fanfic she pulled to write The Fix. It was brilliant, and I remember devouring it on kindle on a plane as I flew to a meetup with other tumblr-ites (although I have no idea which one anymore). The story was gripping, and that Peeta is one of my very, very favorites. He was flawed and kind and extremely human.
Kika loved to bake and sent me a package with homemade goodies. We chatted about her relationship with her parents and her husband and her hopes and dreams for her own children. I loved her ability to see multiple viewpoints and explain something that I hadn't considered. For a while, we discussed me visiting her in Colorado, and I kept thinking that would happen one day. In fact, I'd put it on the list of things to do once "this whole pandemic is over."
Over time, we lost touch, stopped texting, and focused on new things in our lives, but I continued to see her posts on IG and bought her second book when it became available on kindle last April. In the past few months, she'd become very active on IG, and I smiled at her fierce rejection of racism and sexism and other forms of divisiveness.
In short, Kika was someone I'm so grateful to have known, if only through virtual communication. Her passing is a devastating loss that will take a long time to process. So much love to others who are mourning. Her legacy is boundless.

Hello! I’m making an HBHF edit using rips from some older discs I burned and I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to distribute it? Obv I can’t post them but I want to know if you guys know of any places I could sell in the Colorado area (Greeley?) (I’m unable to go to hbcon due to lack of transportation, got kicked out lmaooo)
hm, i’m not familiar with the colorado area (can’t say my exact location for safety reasons, but i’m from canada), but the hbhf fandom is very active on the black market. you could make some sales there. i know over here the fandom hosts underground meetups sometimes, maybe look into some in your area 🗣️ Mod Tunny
