Throwback Thursday: "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner"

"Anna stands by the window looking out. She is dressed in a dark green dress and her hair is pinned up. She is wearing a pearl clip that I gave her long ago as an anniversary present.

I approach her but she doesn’t look at me. She only stares outside. At her side, I look to see what she is staring at.

It is Katniss and Peeta. My son cradles Katniss’s face in his hands as they kiss passionately under the light of the moon. Her body is pressed closely against his and her hand rests lightly on Peeta’s lower back.

I don’t see my son anymore. I see a man in love with a woman."

Been trying to spotlight some of my older stories and this is one of my favorites because we get a Mrs. Mellark that's actually nicer than canon.

Today is the first anniversary of the passing of one of THG’s most loved writers,  AuthoressKika.

In her memory, I’d like recommend one of my favourite stories of hers to any old or new members of the fandom to re-read, or discover for the first time.

Everlark Fic Back Friday

One beach vacation and too many memories they come to realize it was never over. But can one more night be enough?

Middle Of The Night

Katniss has a new neighbor with a new baby and when for the countless night she’s kept awake she ends up at his door. Peeta Mellark rumpled and overwhelmed with his bright eyes and a baby against his chest is not what she expected. Turns out unexpected is exactly what she needs.

Fic Back Friday suggestion

Hi! I recently read a bunch of @hutchhitched’s fics and wanted to recommend some of my favorites. I think it’s incredible she had over 100 stories on AO3! What a goldmine of Everlark for us lucky readers!! So here are some recs:

Too Familiar - absolutely incredible. What a real, raw experience. Tough to read sometimes but I couldn’t put it down. 

Katniss and Peeta enjoy a close friendship that might be a little too familiar, especially when one of them is married. Prompt: Envy

Sole Beneficiary - another excellent, addictive read. Really enjoyed this one! 

Katniss needs comfort as she struggles with the aftermath of her parents’ divorce. Peeta always knows how to make her feel better.

Misbehaviour - I love an agegap!Everlark and this fic has that and more.

Katniss Everdeen is an accomplished, successful, well-liked science teacher in her West Virginia town. She has a particular way of doing things, and she’s pretty sure people who don’t follow suit are lacking in some way. Peeta Mellark, the young and newly-hired English teacher, sweeps into town with his charm and new-fangled teaching strategies and pushes every one of Katniss’ buttons. They’re both professionals, but how are they supposed to just stand by when the other is clearly wrong?

A teachers!Everlark story in which hijinks ensue, rules are broken, and Finnick goads them both into misbehavior.

@absnow has so many great stories and is a personal favorite of mine. She does a great job of blending humor with genuine feelings and I personally love her characterizations of Katniss and Peeta both. These two stories really showcase that in the realm of a modern a/u, in my humble opinion.

I personally love these stories and just reread them not long ago.
