Here’s an old photo of my Sony ‘Psyc’ MZ-N420D MiniDisc player/recorder. It was part of the NetMD series of players which could be connected by a USB cable to the computer to burn disks, similar to making CDs. Previous devices that could record to media were stupidly complicated, were pains at naming tracks, and could only record in realtime. A big reason why this media didn’t catch on was because CD tracks can be ripped to MP3 or duplicated to blank CDs or cassette tapes and, for many years because Sony was trying to appeal to the RIAA‘s desire to prevent unauthorized sharing of music, MD tracks were digitally protected from being able to be copied.
This one can play and record at three speeds, which borrowed names from VCR technology: SP (74 minutes, “regular” any MD player can play), LP2 (150 minutes), and LP4 (300 minutes) and is the only one I own that can play the LP-speed recordings. For your information, if you put a longer-speed recording into a player that can’t handle that speed, it will look like it works -- show the number of tracks, press Play and the timer will run -- but there is only silence. MiniDiscs verses Compact Disks was another example of Betamaxing, where Sony had a product was as good as if not better than its competition but due to some choices and factors was NOT where we went.
For comparison, a MiniDisc next to a CompactFlash card, which is roughly a quarter of the MD’s physical size, and on top of a CD.

They’re much nicer to handle than a CD yet have the same audio capacity and, with the right equipment, can be used for data storage like CDs... remember the ‘syncording’ media for making clones in The Sixth Day?

A typical technique utilized by hoodlums is skimming, in which an unlawful card peruser, some of the time covered up in an authentic robotized teller machine (ATM) or service station siphon, duplicates the information from a Mastercard.ĭifferent strategies incorporate hacking into a retailer’s system or utilizing malware to taint the purpose of of-offer gadgets at a retailer, enabling offenders to get to the information. Visa dumps can be acquired in various ways. “Visa dump” is one more term initially utilized underground that has discovered its way into more extensive open mindfulness as a result of the expanding commonness of charge card phonies, data fraud, and different sorts of cybercrime. The data would then be able to be utilized to make a phony Visa to make buys. Mastercard dump is an unapproved computerized duplicate of the data contained in the attractive piece of a functioning Visa, for example, the card number and lapse date. Hackers can also obtain dumps for thousands of cards by compromising a retailer’s computer system. The best thing about it is the detachable cable, allowing users to hook it up. This reader comes with support for Micro SD (both SDHC and SDXC), SD (UHS-I and II), CF (UDMA 7), MS, and MS Duo memory cards, making it an almost perfect all-in-one card reader. Information is stolen in multiple ways, such as installing a skimmer at an ATM or gas pump. CF UDMA 7 cards top out at about 160MBps, which is the max transfer rate for these cards.

With the FrameScope™ Pro, technicians deploying Ethernet in Metro networks now have a fast, efficient and very cost effective test solution for measuring bandwidth at line rates from 1 Mbit/s to 1 Gbit/s.
The FrameScope™ Pro’s color touch screen and online manuals make it very easy to use and the predefined performance test suites allow the technician to runs tests by pressing a single button.
The FrameScope™ Pro also has a complete toolkit for testing enterprise networks: Agilent's unique Autotest will measure the performance of network resources and services using the same operations that an end user would execute, and then present detail on each operation and compare the measured performance against predefined, yet customizable performance metrics.
Features and Benefits Supports 802.3z-compliant 10/100/1000BASE-T copper and 1000BASE-SX/LX/ZX gigabit fiber SFP interfaces. RFC 2544 performance benchmarking verifies throughput at full line rate on both copper and fiber Ethernet interfaces at speeds from 1 Mbit/s to 1 Gbit/s. Autotest application performance testing allows for quick isolation of protocol, configuration and resource performance problems. Automatic Network Discovery simplifies use and documents network resources and stations Remote control via any web browser allows troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting from central office, eliminating costly dispatches Configurable VLAN and QoS settings Full-screen, color LCD displays clear and complete results Touch-screen interface and online manuals enhance ease of use.
The FrameScope™ Pro automatically surveys the network and displays all devices in a switched network, giving support staff instant visibility into the IP and IPX devices on different subnets, along with their MAC addresses, Network addresses, and names.
Quickly Diagnose and Troubleshoot Network Problems
With just a few clicks, FrameScope™ Pro allows you to identify 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet utilization, broadcasts, collisions and errors, or pinpoint incorrectly assigned subnet masks, misconfigured servers, and duplicate IP addresses.
RFC 2544 Performance Benchmark Testing From the People Who Wrote the Book of Performance Testing
The FrameScope™ Pro is a powerful Ethernet deployment tool capable of throughput, latency, back-to-back frames and frame loss measurements for SLA verification and performance testing. It uses a standardized point-topoint testing method defined by RFC 2544. The test results can be stored on the CompactFlash™ card or viewed and printed via the remote interface.
Automated and Simplified Network Service Testing and Pre-Qualification
FrameScope™ Pro Autotest uses an innovative technique to objectively measure and benchmark the performance of network application servers, and produces detailed reports on the performance metrics. This unique feature is useful for both troubleshooting and network prequalification.
