However, no mention of Apple can be complete without discussing the cult of personality which revolves around its founder and current CEO, Steve Jobs (Forbes, 2006). Jobs has had a tumultuous relationship with the company he founded since he was removed from service and called back by the board after many years of absence (Beckman & Hirsch, 2001). Writing for The Guardian, Smith says that: “To technology freaks and geeks, he is a demigod, whose product launches are adulatory affairs regularly likened to religious revivalist meetings. The Jobs life story - humble birth, rise and fall, then miraculous comeback - has even been likened by Apple fanatics to the heroic myths of Odysseus, Jason, Krishna and Christ (Smith, 2006, Pg. 1).” Porter’s Five Forces The five forces model shows that Apple has a significantly strong position in the market for some of its products e.g. the iPod and the iTunes Music Store but for others it is positioned on rather weak footing e.g. personal computers (PC Magazine, 2006). In the MP3 player market, Apple has a very strong brand identity and a massive advantage in terms of switching costs over its rivals. WEEK 7-8 OF BUSINESS INTERVIEWS

Last October 25 Jessa, Francen, Angel, and I conducted the fourth part of our interviews with five business owners, each with a different type of business. Before starting the interviews, we asked for their permission to take video or audio recordings for documentation purposes. We prepared a set of questions for them to answer, focusing on their businesses.

1. AdTech Computer Sales & Services

AdTech Computer Sales & Services is a business that sells computer parts and repairs computers and printers, specifically Epson printers. The owner of this business is Ma'am Anne. It is located on Corrales Ave. The business has been operating for 14 years in Cagayan de Oro, while the main branch in Iligan has been running for 17 years. The establishment has two staff members, and we interviewed the technician, Mr. Angelo Cuenca. Their business papers are complete, including registrations with BIR, DTI, and a business permit from City Hall. The store is open from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday. Supplies are shipped from Manila, with some coming from China, the U.S., and other countries. Their common issues often stem from customer complaints when they are unable to resolve a problem.

2. ZEEMART CONVENIENCE STORE

This next business is a 24/7 convenience store located in Nazareth. It is owned by Mr. Zoren Jacob Jardin and was established in May 2024. The store has two staff members who work in shifts, covering the night and day. We interviewed the saleslady, Ms. Patty Salvaña. Their supplies are purchased from a grocery store, specifically in Palaña. Sales are higher in the evening than in the morning. They have acquired all the necessary documents to operate, including registrations with BIR, DTI, and a business permit.

3. PAWSTHRU PET SUPPLIES

PAWSTHRU PET SUPPLIES is a store that sells pet food and other pet products. It is solely owned by Ms. Marianne Sistoso Carreon and is located at Nazareth, 6th St. The business was established in 2012 and has a total of four branches, located in Patag, SM Uptown, and the main branch in CM Recto near SM Downtown. They are only renting the spaces in 6th St. The store is open from Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm. There are two staff members, Ms. Angel and Mr. Julius, whom we interviewed. They have all the necessary documents to operate, including registrations with BIR, DTI, and a business permit. Additionally, the staff undergo seminars and orientations specifically about animals to ensure they sell products properly. The business was established because the owner is a dog lover.

4. LORETTA'S EMPANADA

Loretta's Empanada is solely owned by Ms. Dawn Dy and is located on Pabayo, Gaerlan St. The empanada business was initially started by her grandmother, who is featured in the business logo. The recipe has been passed down from generation to generation since 1960. Ms. Dawn was the only one in the family who had the courage to continue what her grandmother started, as the process of making the empanada is quite difficult, which discouraged some of her siblings from getting involved. The business that Ms. Dy continued was established in 2019, starting as an online store and just then build a physical store. The physical store is open from Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 6 pm. There are currently four staff members, including Ms. Dawn, who personally handles the cooking. All the empanadas are handmade, with no machines used in the process. They have complete documents, including DTI registration, BIR, a business permit, and a sanitary permit. While the exact sources of their supplies are undisclosed to maintain the exclusivity of the family recipe, Ms. Dawn mentioned that their ingredients are purchased from various groceries. The main challenge they face is balancing supply and demand, as it takes time to procure ingredients and produce the empanadas. Due to higher demand than they can supply, they encourage customers to pre-order for bulk orders.

5. GADGET PRO REPAIRS SERVICES

The last business we interviewed is Gadget Pro Repair Services, owned by Mr. Arjo. It is located at Goking Building, Corner Jr. Borja, Corrales Ave., and has been running for 3 years. They have two branches, with the other one in Uptown. They offer gadget repairs, mainly for Apple products, which is their specialty. There are 5 staff members in the main branch and 2 in the Uptown branch. They have all the required documents, including DTI, BIR, a business permit, SSS, NCIII, and TESDA. The owner has no plans to expand the business further. He started the business out of his passion for fixing electronic devices, which he enjoyed even before launching it. The business specializes in level 3 repairs, such as fixing motherboards, power issues, signal problems, and data recovery. Here are 5 tips for your small business home office, in no particular order. These will help you maintain your busy schedule and long hours stuck in your office whilst staying healthy and happy. Why you should take your Home Office environment serious? Maybe you previously worked for a large organisation? Maybe you didn't need to look after your wellbeing so much because someone else was looking out for you. Did you ever get that email from HR, saying they're coming round to do a "Workstation Assessment"? you probably thought, "I don't have time for this", but you went along with it anyway and before you realised, a new keyboard arrived on your desk, or a different chair suddenly appeared. All because your Workstation Assessment uncovered the fact you needed an ergonomic keyboard or lumber adjustment chair which was more suited to prevent that backache you sometimes get or prevent that RSI in your right hand. Well, now you are your own boss and nobody else is going to look after you or your health. So take some time and consider your office environment, because now, more then ever, you can ill-afford to take time off work for health reasons. Tip 1 - Spend some money It seems obvious but spend a bit of money on good quality equipment! All to often small business owners are trying to save money and minimise what they spend, but the result is they work in a damp basement office with poor ventilation or they are sitting on kitchen chairs for hours on end, or maybe they're working on that 10 year old laptop with poor screen resolution because " it still does the job". Start with a decent quality desk chair which has more levers and buttons then a jumbo Jet to make sure you can get your sitting position just right. Forget popping into a high street store and pick up a nice looking, but utterly inadequate home study chair. Tip 2 - Don't stare at your tiny 13" laptop screen all day Lightweight compact laptops are great... for resting on your lap.... whilst working on the train or in a hotel room. They are not designed for staring at for 12 hours a day whilst sitting in your office! that's why they're called "Laptops". But you don't need to spend a fortune on buying a new Desktop Computer. Just get a good quality additional screen (or even a 3rd screen). Make sure it is as least 24" with a minimum resolution of 1920x1080. We bought this basic DELL E2416H Screen, for less then £120. Its a few years old now but its clear, sharp image and screen size means I'm never straining to read anything on the display. You can set up your windows environment so that you can extend your desktop to this second screen (hit Windows+ P on your keyboard). Now you can utilise all the available space for the hundreds of windows you have open at any one time (if you're anything like me). Just check what connection you have on your laptop to make sure you buy a screen with a compatible connector. (I.e. HDMI, DVI, VGA or DisplayPort) adapters do exist from one type to another but they're not always that great! We're using a laptop stand to bring the laptop up to correct height as well.

Tip 3 - Have some good quality entertainment available. Newsflash! You are your own boss now! You want to watch a bit of TV whilst you're doing some light admin work? Maybe you fancy blasting your favourite tune on Radio 1? Nobody is going to stop you. Remember you will probably be in this same position in another 10 hours from now. So if you can't take a break let the break come to you right at your desk. We bought this Panasonic TX-24J330B HD Ready TV with Freeview HD , Black for £149. Now I'm in my happy place watching the Netherlands work their way to the finals in the Euro 2020/2021 whilst I'm working. Although to be honest I might have to move over to the lounge for the big screen for that. And when I'm not watching the footy? The screen comes with a HDMI port so I can make great use it for my 3rd screen when I'm doing development work and just need another screen to lay things side by side. Tip 4 - Posture is Everything! So a good chair is king but without the ability to set your screens at the correct height your posture is still going to suffer and you run the risk of a trip to the GP to get some medication for that chronic back ache again! In addition because I'm also utilising the laptop as a screen We're using a laptop stand to bring the laptop up to correct height as well. RSI is no joke and once you start having problems they're not always easy to cure. Tip 5 - Make your life simple So now you've got a few gadgets to make your day more enjoyable and keep you in the tip top shape that you are. There is a few things we added to our home office station to finish it off. We now have multiple screens, radio , TV and a Boom Mic for our virtual conferences I needed a simple method of managing all these audio devices. But the point is this; invest in your Home Office so that your time spent in there, which is extensive, keeps you fit and healthy and is enjoyable and fun. We could go on about all the other gadgets we have brought into our home office. From the books on the desk, which I can pick up and read without ever leaving my desk. Or the foot stool under the desk which helps with my posture again. Or even my special VDU varifocal glasses, (bet you didn't even know they existed? - But ask your Optician). The list goes just goes on and on.

But Don't forget... No matter how nice your Home office is now, its important to make sure you do take time away too. Get some fresh air, go for a walk, have your lunch in the garden. According to research conducted by the prestigious consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Interactive Advertising Bureau Poland Internet is still a dominant communication channel, it has even achieved a 12.9% increase year to year. In the research 29 entities took part and they presented data related to sales executed by external firms. The most dynamic segment has been search engine marketing which has increased by 3% compared to 2008 and in 2009 constituted 26% of total advertising expenses. The segment of advertisements and yellow pages noted a 5% value increase, whereas taking into consideration the share in the advertising types it has experienced a slight decline – 1%. E-mail marketing maintained its position of advertising expenses, that just like in 2008 amounted to 6%. In the research report, with the help of 14 entities: interactive agencies or interactive departments of advertising agencies took part , sum of net revenues of advertising agencies without media increased by 6. 3% year to year (6.9% including media i.e. planned purchase and service of media by mediation of interactive agencies). . The number of long-term projects lasting from 3 to 6 months has increased, whereas the number of projects executed within a month has halved. In total sales in 2009 there is a distinct share increase in motorization, transport, alcoholic beverages and telecommunication. While the following sectors: finances, commerce, hygiene, pharmacy, computers, fashion and books, DVD, food, tourism have reported a decline. According to 29% of researched agencies the interactive sector expects a 21-40% increase in sales in 2010; according to 21% of the researched the increase will amount to 5-10% and according to 14% of the researched the level of sales increase may exceed 61%. This report also reports that year 2009 has been the period of development of social portals engaging internauts. Social marketing has been the fastest developing segment in the US market. Among communities significant presence of business could be observed. Mobile segment turned out to be particularly strong. In the past three years, machine learning-based image generators have proliferated, significantly impacting the field of game art design. However, this rapid development has sparked widespread controversy among digital artists.

Generative AI can quickly produce images through prompts, greatly enhancing design efficiency. With a market value of approximately $43.87 billion in 2023, generative AI is expected to grow to $967.65 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate of 39.6%.

Despite these advancements, many artists view generative AI as a threat to their creative freedom and copyright. Prominent digital artists like Kan Liu and Philipp A. Urlich have voiced concerns over unauthorized use of their work by AI, leading to infringement on their rights. Urlich, for instance, believes that AI is undermining an industry built on "lifelong learning, passion, and a love for creation." In response, many artists have protested on platforms like ArtStation, but these platforms' responses have often been seen as inadequate in protecting artists' rights.

In contrast, some image service companies like Shutterstock and Getty Images have banned the sale of AI-generated images due to copyright concerns. The worries of artists extend beyond mere style imitation; there is also the fear that generative AI could be used to create harmful content, further damaging their reputation and rights.

The use of generative AI in game art design has increased efficiency but has also sparked widespread debates over copyright, creative freedom, and industry ethics. Addressing these issues will require more industry regulations and policy support to balance technological progress with the protection of artists' rights.
