my favorite app for productivity by FAR is the app “notion.” before i get into all the details about why i love it i thought i would let you know that it is available on mac, iphone, android, google play, and desktop!!! that means, wherever you are in the world, you have access to your notion spreads as long as you have the internet (for desktop that is). the app is free and just recently, the personal plan has been made completely free, not limiting you to a 1000 block limit which is amazingggg. also, if you have a school email (ex: ending in .edu), you can get the personal pro plan for completely free (otherwise $4 a month) which gives you just a little more access.

the simple interface. i loveeeee how sleek this app looks. the default font is beautiful and it’s just really satisfying? you can also hide the sidebar which is really nice (i always have that on) and it’s lowkey really user friendly even if you’re a beginner.

how advanced it can be. while it does take a little bit to get the hang of sometimes, epecially if you’re doing really complex things with tables and equations, it can be an extremely powerful tool. you can use it for anything and that takes me to my next point. 

how customizable it is. this app is entirely customizable and it’s quite amazing. you can change the font, the color, the size of headers and so much more. you can do literally anything you want with this app. you can make the best page that is entirely customizable for you. if you don’t want to get that fancy (or are trying to work your way up to being a notion guru), you can import hundreds of templates that you can then customize. 

the emojis and headers. the addition of the emoji icons for each page as well as header images really takes the cake ngl lol. it’s a simple addition but it can make each page in your workspace *that* much more customizable. i love looking for header images that perfecly connect to what is going on on my page. 

keyboard shortcuts. oh my god the keyboard shortcuts are a god send. you can create a new ~anything~ just by hitting the forward slash. my fingers barely leave my keys (unless i’m scrolling) because i’m able to navigate mostly using the keyboard (like doing comand [ or ] (on a mac) to go back/forward a page). sadly these aren’t on the mobile version but i mostly access notion on my laptop anyway. 

linking. YOU. CAN. LINK. PAGES. IN. OTHER. PAGES. HOW AMAZING IS THAT. 

pages, tables, boards, and databases. i just recently got into make tables and it’s been game changing. i can make the main table “hub” and create different views of it (how cool is that) that i can link in other pages!!! with the linking feature, you can also show the same table in the same page but with different views (like seeing the same table twice if that makes sense). it’s just so great. and the tables are so fluid, even on mobile. 

moving things around is simpler than ever. there are 6 little dots next to each block (that’s what the call each piece whether that’s text, headers, or to do lists) that you just click and can move anywhere. just writing this post, i wanted to reorder it a little and i wanted the dots to be there but they weren’t! it’s so easy to do. like i said you can reorder but you can also make collumns and ugh it’s amazing. 

available anywhere. finally, notion is available anywhere!!!! they have an offline mode and you can get it on practically device. if you can’t tell already, i literally love this app and the fact that i can access it anywhere, it’s a deal breaker. i lowkey don’t know what i did before i had notion.

The Nexus 6 has a larger display, and boasts a far higher 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution than its competitor, which only displays 1920 x 1080 pixels per inch. If you can accept some plastic within the build of the Nexus, then you're getting a larger screen in as small amount of space as possible. The screen-to-body ratio of the Nexus 6 is a high 74.03% while the iPhone offers a lower 65%.

Performance

The Nexus 6 packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor offering 2.7GHz with a very high 3GB of RAM. The iPhone 6 Plus boasts a lower 1GB of RAM but holds a custom-built, 64-bit A8 processor and M8 motion co-processor that performs extremely well in tests against the Nexus 6. A key feature of the Google Nexus 6 is the dual front-facing speakers, allowing clear sound targeted towards the user as opposed to the iPhone's bottom-facing speakers next to the charger port.

Smartphone users increasingly are ditching their separate cameras and using their phone instead, pushing the importance of internal cameras. While the Nexus 6 offers a 13-megapixel camera, which is high in comparison to the iPhone's 8-megapixel lens, both devices deliver similar results in final picture quality. Those obsessed with "selfie" photos will be more attracted to Google's 2-megapixel front facing camera in comparison to Apple's lower 1.2-megapixel front lens.

Battery Life

One of our most important measures is the ability of a smartphone to match its capabilities to its power supply. A beast of a device is useless unless it can power itself efficiently. The Google Nexus 6 wins with a higher standby time 13.8 days compared to the iPhone 6 Plus' poor standby time of 10.4 days. As both models are strenuous on their batteries, don't be surprised if you're device lives longer next to a wall plug than in your hand.

Final Verdict

The Nexus 6 outshines the iPhone 6 Plus with its more advanced capabilities and higher standards of features commonly used by consumers. A better screen and camera sheds light on its advance into the media-obsessed market. But it cannot beat Apple's overall design quality and sleekness, fitting well in the hand while maintaining build strength with its fully aluminium casing.

The latest trend of the innovative powerhouse, Apple, is to release new iPhone models as a pair. The iPhone 5C, which comes in a range of colours, was branded as the "affordable iPhone model". Whereas the iPhone 5S was branded as their premium model with better features, and of course arriving at a premium price. The iPhone 6 is their latest smartphone upgrade, while the 6 Plus is a clear jump into the "phablet" market as Apple rivals with other major competitors. As with any manufacturer, Apple bombards the market with advertisements for their latest releases where profit margins are high and first adopters begin the trend to get their hands on the latest smartphone devices.

Yet when you compare the prices of all iPhone models on the market along with their true technical differences, there is consistently a significant difference in price yet an insignificant change in capabilities and performance. Is the iPhone 6 really an innovative jump from its predecessor or just a minor step up with a few new gimmicks?

When you compare internal changes, you'll find the newer models will have Apple's latest A-chips at a higher GHz and an increase in processor cores, along with new memory capacities. On paper, these changes sound like worthy reasons to upgrade, but when you compare models in reality, side by side, the changes are small and relative. It may be ever so slightly faster and more responsive, but you'll soon get used to this and notice insignificant differences. The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are prime examples of Apple bringing new models with elegant designs to appeal to fans yet not actually upgrading much on the inside.

Whether you're a loyal Apple fan with a now old device, or a newcomer looking to dabble in sophisticated, smooth smartphones, it's always worth spending a bit of time trying every model available and consider the real differences between them. You'll find they run similarly, but come at totally different prices. Whatever model you choose, ensure you opt for a suitable internet data package, as all iPhone models tend to eat through data with automatic services constantly updating through 3G and 4G. Most package deals now include unlimited texts as more and more users simply message through internet services anyway, such as Apple's 'iMessage' and Facebook's messaging portal.

Another option to consumers in the UK is to buy the device SIM-free, and purchase a SIM-only contract separately. The advantage of this? Your overall cost, on average, will very likely be significantly lower than if you were to go for a full iPhone contract. SIM only offers tend to be lower priced as no device is provided by the retailer or network, thus passing on these savings to the customer. Use Dictation

Go to a document or other text field and place the insertion point where you want your dictated text to appear.

Press the keyboard shortcut for starting dictation, or choose Edit > Start Dictation. The default shortcut is Fn Fn (press the Fn key twice). When your Mac is listening, it displays a microphone to the left or right of the page, aligned with the insertion point. If you turn on advanced dictation commands, the microphone appears in the lower-right corner of your screen, and you can drag it to another position. When your Mac can hear you, the input meter inside the microphone rises and falls as you speak.

Speak the words that you want your Mac to type. Dictation learns the characteristics of your voice and adapts to your accent, so the more you use it, the better it understands you. If it doesn't understand you, learn what to do.

To stop dictating, click Done below the microphone icon, press Fn once, or switch to another window.

About Enhanced Dictation

Enhanced Dictation is available in OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later. With Enhanced Dictation:

You can dictate continuously.

You can dictate without being connected to the Internet.

Your words might convert to text more quickly.

You can use dictation commands to tell your Mac what to do.

Without Enhanced Dictation, your spoken words and certain other data are sent to Apple to be converted into text and help your Mac understand what you mean. As a result, your Mac must be connected to the Internet, your words might not convert to text as quickly, and you can speak for no more than 40 seconds at a time (30 seconds in OS X Yosemite or earlier).

If you're on a business or school network that uses a proxy server, Dictation might not be able to connect to the Internet. Have your network administrator refer to the list of network ports used by Apple software products.

Did you write your entire screenplay using your sweetheart’s name, Hamlet, as the hero? And now Hamlet has abandoned you and you want to replace the hero’s name with Romeo? No problem:

From the Edit menu, choose “Find..,” or press Command F. A search field appears below the ruler bar.

Click the “Replace” checkbox to open a Replace text field below the search field.

In the Find field, type the word you want to find, such as Hamlet.

In the Replace field, type the word or phrase that will replace the found word, such as Romeo.

Find and replace:

Replace: Replaces the currently selected occurrence of the word or phrase, then automatically finds the next occurrence.

All: Replace all occurrence of the found text. Press (don’t click) on the “All” button to see more options.

To manually find other occurrence of the text, click the Previous and Next buttons.

For more search options, click the small double-arrows next to the magnifying glass icon on the left side of the window.

Click “Done” to put the Find and Replace fields away.
