Innovative Cosmetic Development
Developing an innovative cosmetic/make-up product is not an easy task.
Many times entrepreneurs have a brilliant idea but do not know how to make the idea real.
That is why SourcingLab exists we help your idea of cosmetic or makeup to become real. See below 6 steps for cosmetics new product development:
1º: Marketing brief - here you will idealize your product, what is its category, desired function, color, odor, texture, size, etc.
2º: Product formulation - based on your requirements our team of scientists will work on the formulation. Each claim will be analyzed and several prototypes are created for comparison.
3º: Raw materials and packaging sourcing - here is the stage to decide about suppliers for each ingredient needed and material for the packaging. Our team will analyze quality, costs, function, etc for final validation.
4º: Packaging artwork design - it's time to work on the artwork design. The packaging should be appealing yet simple to be used and comfortable.
5º: Quality and compliance - before being launched we need to make sure that the product is safe and complying with due regulations of its location. Several quality tests will be taken such as microbiological, toxicology, stability tests in order to prove product safety.
6º: Product final validation - here we will finally verify if all the terms of the marketing brief were attended to in order to start commercializing the product.
This is how SourcingLab will help you create your best sellers for the new 2020!

#Repost @kjbennettbeauty ・・・ Let's talk more about Ingredient Lists (IL) and how they can alert you to misleading marketing information.⠀ ⠀ Today's example - Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. ⠀ A "dermatologist recommended" cleanser marketed as "a mild, non-irritating formulation that SOOTHES skin as it cleans. In fact, it's gentle enough for a baby's delicate skin."⠀ ⠀ The IL:⠀ Water, Cetyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearyl Alcohol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben.⠀ ⠀ Please explain how a "Mild, soap-free formula cleanses without irritation", yet contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) as the 4th ingredient?⠀ ⠀ "What is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate?"⠀ SLS is a synthetic surfactant (cleanser) used to remove oil, grease and other residue. It is found in high concentrations in industrial products, including industrial degreasers (car engines, etc.), and industrial cleaners. SLS is also used in lower concentrations in household cleansers and personal care products like toothpaste, shampoos, and face/body cleansers.⠀ ⠀ "What's the problem?" ⠀ Numerous scientific journals have linked SLS to skin irritation and dermatitis. So why is SLS a main ingredient in a product boasting cleansing without irritation...safe enough for baby's delicate skin?⠀ Because SLS's are cheap? BINGO!⠀ ⠀ The next bit of doubletalk is their claim of "pH balanced for effective and gentle cleansing."⠀ PH is the acid to alkaline balance on skin's surface that keeps it protected and functioning correctly. The scale goes from 0.0 (acidic) up to 14.0 (alkaline). When skin ph is off balance (too alkaline or too acidic), it is susceptible to irritation, and environmental stress. ⠀ You'd expect 'perfect' balance to be the middle of the scale at 7.0, but human skin functions best on the acidic side, with an optimal pH balance between 5.0-5.5.⠀ Cetaphil GENTLE Cleanser has a ph of 6.6-6.8. So, it hovers at 7.0 (the middle of the scale), allowing them to market it as "balanced." BUT - if optimal skin ph is 5.5, a cleanser hovering at 7.0 will disturb its balance, cause dryness and expose it to irritation - not very "gentle".⠀ ⠀ #makeup #makeupartist #skincare #cosmeticdeveloper #beau — view on Instagram http://bit.ly/2Ijg2kC
