I'm going to just quickly say this, since I know quite a few of you follow me for the anti-Dh*r M*nn posts. It's very unlikely that it's anyone here who's doing this, but I've said this before.

Don't harass any of the kids in Dh*r M*nn's videos, including the ones who acted in videos I've talked about. Leave them alone.

Harassing the kids who are in that man's videos is something that doesn't fly with me. A lot of those kids probably didn't ask to be in Dh*r M*nn's videos. They're probably there because of their parents. I'm sure if they had the choice, they wouldn't be in Dh*r M*nn's videos at all. I'm also positive that some of them probably get bullied at school for being in those videos.

Why am I bringing this up now? Well, it's been brought to my attention that one of the kids who's in a lot of Dh*r M*nn's videos is being allegedly harassed and it's not looking good for him. I'm talking about Ayden. Ayden has been in A LOT of videos...especially the most offensive of Dh*r M*nn's videos. (That's not Ayden's fault, obviously.)

Yes, Dh*r M*nn's videos are cringe, uncreative, repetitive, and mediocre at best. Yes, his videos are insensitive, offensive, harmful, and in some cases, even dangerous at worst. We can all agree there. I think we've established this.

Does ANYTHING that I've mentioned above justify harassing the kids in those videos all because they're in them? ABSOLUTELY NOT. They're kids who read shitty scripts that a grown ass man who's pushing forty "writes".

I'm not gonna sit here, coddle the kids, and say that they can do no wrong. They're not little angels. They absolutely can do wrong. Do they need some redirection and education about the subject matter in the videos they're in? Yeah. In fact, A LOT of them do. There are ways that can be done, and none of them involve harassment.

TL;DR: Leave the kids in the cringe ass nae-nae baby's videos alone. They actually deserve better.

I think @kendallroy's answer to this anon yesterday hit the nail on the head.

One of the most useful things I learned in therapy is that people who zealously go out of their way trying to prove that you are a Terrible Person are not acting in good faith, even if it dovetails with your self-loathing. They are casting you as the bad guy in some kind of cathartic psychodrama and expecting you to play along, which you are not obliged to do. Think about it. Most interpersonal conflict can be ameliorated by being accountable for your actions, making amends when they're due, and/or keeping your distance. Hell, sometimes folks just rub you the wrong way for no discernable reason (or unexpectedly hit a nerve) and you can have good, clean, passive-aggressive, petty fun venting to your friends about the Bitch Eating Crackers. That shit's normal.

What isn't normal? People who have convinced themselves that they're avenging angels obsessively trying to humiliate you because you are a card-carrying [checks notes] cringe ass nae nae neoliberal double supersecret probation crypto-TERF tomgreg fandom mom swiftie bimbophobic r*ylo anti-anti hentai exclusionary radfem. Like, even apart from the fact that none of it makes sense outside of an anaerobic Extremely Online environment, you gotta ask yourself what they're really trying to accomplish by telling you about yourself.

Same with anons, tbh. It really is about perspective. Like, the one from this morning clearly noticed that I like to Read so they opted for the “not as smart as you think”/“everyone hates you” powercombo and thought that would get me where it hurts—which it absolutely would, if it were coming from my editor, partner, or shrink. As such, they sounded like an anime villain who just read the Wikipedia page for “imposter syndrome” and rushed over to own me online.
