Easy Way to Make 45-Degree Cuts on Porcelain Tiles
Tumblr media
Cutting porcelain tiles at a 45-degree angle (also known as a mitre cut) requires precision and the right tools. Here’s how you can do it:
Tools You'll Need:
Wet Tile Saw with a tilting table or adjustable blade
Diamond Blade (specifically for porcelain tiles)
Clamps (if needed)
Safety Gear (goggles, gloves, and a mask)
Steps to Cut at a 45-Degree Angle:
Set Up Your Wet Tile Saw
Make sure the saw is on a stable surface.
Ensure the water supply is functioning properly to cool the blade and reduce dust.
Adjust the Blade or Table
If your wet saw has a tilting table, set it to 45 degrees.
If the saw has an adjustable blade, tilt the blade instead.
Mark Your Tile
Use a pencil or marker to indicate the cut line on the back of the tile.
Make the Cut
Place the tile face down on the saw table.
Slowly push the tile through the blade to prevent chipping.
Use even pressure and don’t force the cut.
Smooth the Edge (Optional)
Use a diamond polishing pad or a rubber sanding block with fine-grit sandpaper to refine the mitred edge.
Tips to Avoid Chipping:
Use a high-quality diamond blade designed for porcelain.
Cut slowly and steadily without forcing the tile.
Keep the tile firmly in place while cutting.
