Improved Compatibility and Quality in Video to DVD Conversion
Many of us find ourselves clinging to outdated media, such as video to DVD conversion, camcorder recordings, or other analogue video formats, in a world where technology is developing at a breakneck pace. These cassettes include priceless memories of important life events, weddings, holidays, and family get-togethers, but they are frequently prone to deterioration with time. Converting videos to DVDs provides a chance to save these memories in a more contemporary, long-lasting manner.
Tumblr media
What Is Involved in DVD to USB Conversion?
The process to convert DVD to USB entails transferring the digital files from the DVD—such as a home video, documentary, or movie—to a USB device. In the era of digitalisation, portable digital storage devices like USB drives have become more popular than physical media like DVDs.
Converting DVDs to USB is a wise decision whether you want to simplify access to your favourite films, organise your media library, or save room on your DVD shelf. The accessibility of DVDs is restricted since they must be plugged into a computer or DVD player each time they are wanted to be seen. Furthermore, whether fast-forwarding or scrolling between chapters, it might be difficult to locate particular scenes or moments, and DVD loading times can occasionally be delayed.
Make Backup Copies to Distribute to Loved Ones
Making backup copies for storage is an additional advantage of converting your films to DVD. To guard against damage, loss, or theft, you can create many copies of your DVDs and keep them in several places. This guarantees that, even if the original DVD is damaged, your memories will be securely maintained.
Sharing your films with others is also made simpler by video-to-DVD conversion. DVDs are the ideal sharing media, whether you're making a compilation of your children's early experiences or giving a copy of your family's wedding movie to family members.
Because DVD players are so common, anyone can use this format. This straightforward yet efficient conversion method can improve your watching experience whether you're trying to clear out your house, boost the quality of your material, or access your DVDs from contemporary devices.

KIP'S BIG POST OF THINGS TO MAKE THE INTERNET & TECHNOLOGY SUCK A LITTLE LESS
Tumblr media
Post last updated November 23, 2024. Will continue to update!
Here are my favorite things to use to navigate technology my own way:
A refurbished iPod loaded with Rockbox OS (Rockbox is free, iPods range in price. I linked the site I got mine from. Note that iPods get finicky about syncing and the kind of cord it has— it may still charge but might not recognize the device to sync. Getting an original Apple cord sometimes helps). Rockbox has ports for other MP3 players as well.
This Windows debloater program (there are viable alternatives out there, this one works for me). It has a powershell script that give you a little UI and buttons to press, which I appreciate, as I'm still a bit shy with tech.
Firefox with the following extensions: - Consent-O-Matic (set your responses to ALL privacy/cookie pop-ups in the extension, and it will answer all pop-ups for you. I can see reasons to not use it, but I appreciate it) - Facebook Container ("contains" Meta on Facebook and Instagram pages to keep it from tracking you or getting third party cookies, since Meta is fairly egregious about it) - Redirect Amp to HTML (AMP is designed for mobile phones, this forces pages to go to their HTML version) - A WebP/AVIF image converter - uBlock Origin and uBlacklist, with the AI blacklist loaded in to kill any generative AI results from appearing in search engines or anywhere.
Handbrake for ripping DVDs— I haven’t used this in awhile as I haven’t been making video edits. I used this back when I had a Mac OS
VLC Media Player (ol’ reliable)
Unsplash & Pexels for free-to-use images
A password manager (these often are paid. I use Dashlane. There are many options, feel free to search around and ask for recs!). There is a lot that goes into cybersecurity— find the option you feel is best for you.
Things I suggest:
Understanding Royalty Free and the Creative Commons licenses
Familiarity with boolean operators for searching
Investing in a backup drive and external drive
A few good USBs, including one that has a backup of your OS on it
Adapter cables
Avoiding Fandom “wikias” (as in the brand “Fandom”) and supporting other, fan-run or supported wikis. Consider contributing if its something you find yourself passionate or joyful about.
Finding Forums for the things you like, or creating your own*
Create an email specifically for ads/shopping— use it to receive all promotional emails to keep your inbox clean. Upkeep it.
Stop putting so much of your personal information online— be willing to separate your personal online identity from your “online identity”. You don’t owe people your name, location, pronouns, diagnoses, or any of that. It’s your choice, but be discerning in what you give and why. I recommend avoiding providing your phone number to sites as much as possible.
Be intentional
Ask questions
Talk to people
Remember that you can lurk all you want
Things that are fun to check out:
BBSes-- here's a portal to access them.
Neocities
*Forums-- find some to join, or maybe host your own? The system I was most familiar with was vbulletin.
MMM.page
Things that have worked well for me but might work for you, YMMV:
Limit your app usage time on your smartphone if you’re prone to going back to them— this is a tangible way to “practice mindfulness”, a term I find frustratingly vague ansjdbdj
Things I’m looking into:
The “Pi Hole”— a raspberry pi set up to block all ads on a specific internet connection
VPNs-- this is one that was recommended to me.
How to use computers (I mean it): Resources on how to understand your machine and what you’re doing, even if your skill and knowledge level is currently 0:
This section I'll come back an add to. I know that messing with computers can be intimidating, especially if you feel out of your depth. HTML and regedits and especially things like dualbooting or linux feel impossible. So I want to put things here that explain exactly how the internet and your computer functions, and how you can learn and work with that. Yippee!

hello hello!! I don't know how common it is, but I've heard some libraries have maker spaces (sewing machines, 3d printers, etc) do yall have such a place?
We do! Ours is located at our Merrillville Branch and is called the Libratory: www.lcplin.org/libratory
Tumblr media
We don't have sewing machines but we do have 3D printers. When we created the Libratory we were mainly focused on the preservation of physical media, so most of our stuff is dedicated to that. We have special scanners for slides and photos as well as equipment to convert old film reels, VHS, cassettes, etc.
We expanded to add the 3D printers (we have a BambuLab X1-Carbon and a Dremel 3D45), then a WhisperRoom, which is a sound booth for recording music, podcasts, podfics, whatever. It's equipped with mics, software, audio interfaces and mixers and all that good stuff.
Tumblr media
It's hard to grab the whole Libratory in a photo, but here's a promo video that has close ups of lots of our equipment and breaks down what you can do in there (video has captions):
youtube
[ID: Video panning around the room pictured earlier in the post. It focuses in on someone scanning photos and old film strips, then shows someone using a VHS converter, a DVD converter, and a converter for Hi-8 and Super-8 film. Next is the 8mm film converter, which threads the actual film on to a device that looks like a projector. Then they show the cassette capture and turntable record converter. A woman comes in and hands over a box of old material to demonstrate a drop-off conversion service where the librarians convert your material for you. Finally, the video shows someone sitting down inside the WhisperRoom and using the laptop and sound board to record voice audio. For details on all of the equipment and services shown you can visit www.lcplin.org/libratory /ID]
That's the basics! Just let me know if you have any more questions!

silly silly question but do you think that rockstar eddie, once he found out np's plan to digitized their home movies, suggested to her to include their sextape that def they still have on a vhs tape somewhere in his safe lmao
i love silly silly fun questions. my fav kind of questions.
i like to think he’s kinda old and grumpy about technology in a way. very much so “this is the problem these days” and nagging on about it. it was a miracle when he got a cell phone (that he doesn’t use), and an even bigger one when he finally upgraded from a flip phone to an iphone… that he keeps until it breaks and then he wants the exact same one. like he’s not a big tech guy, thinks it’s too complicated and goes on a big rant about how he’s not becoming a phone zombie.
i think he’d digitalize the girls home movies- well, nb does it. he just enjoys it. he gets them made into dvds first and then actually digitalized. but in his basement office, he still has a vhs player and a tv that he keeps because he likes it.
i think he’d keep the numerous (they were bored and horny and someone gave them a video camera like what did you think?) sex tapes on the vhs, just because 1) he wouldn’t want it to somehow get lost in the shuffle and one of the girls find it or something and 2) it just adds to the sexy ambiance of it being on a vhs.
i do think, however, that he decides to record it while it’s playing and keep it on his phone. just pictures older!rockstar!eddie filming it on the tv screen, you 1000% can see his reflection holding the camera while younger him and nb are banging it out on the screen. actually so fucking funny of him and i love it.
nb has it on dvd tho lol. got it converted a few years ago and didn’t tell him.

Tumblr media
Pairing: Schlatt x gn!reader (no pronouns, no use of y/n)
Word Count: ~780
Summary: What do you get as a gift for someone who has it all?
Content: Fluff, pet names (angel). Schlatt and reader are childhood best friends who recently reconnected :)
A/N: Hi! This is my first attempt at writing for Schlatt. Let me know how I did! :)
Tumblr media
You’ve been stressing ever since you flipped the calendar page over this morning. Your first anniversary with Schlatt is this month, the date marked with a heart, and you have no idea what you’re going to get him.
What do you get as a gift for someone who has it all?
You’re in your parents’ attic, helping them to clean it up a bit, when you find the answer to your dilemma.
You come across an unmarked cardboard box, which by itself isn’t unusual; you’ve already sorted through a dozen just like it. What makes it special is what you find inside—it’s filled with VHS-C tapes from your family’s old camcorder. You’ve just stumbled upon a treasure trove of memories.
You know for a fact that there is footage of Schlatt within these tapes, from birthday celebrations to stupid “movies” the two of you made together. As you pick up a tape, labeled with both of your names and the date it was captured, you start to form a plan.
Tumblr media
Your childhood bedroom is exactly as you left it when you moved out, down to the old CRT TV and combination VHS and DVD player. After some quick Googling, you’re turning on the TV and popping the first tape, along with a blank DVD, into the player.
Static. Then, a picture comes into view: a grainy scene of a much younger version of you in front of a birthday cake, Schlatt right at your side as he and the rest of the party-goers sing “Happy Birthday” and you blow out the candles. You can’t help but smile at the display.
The video continues, showing you tearing into your birthday presents (with Schlatt right there to help you, of course). You’re transported back to that day, long forgotten until now, where you almost had more fun playing with the wrapping paper and tissue paper than the actual presents you received.
Soon, the first tape ends. If all went well, it should be copied onto the DVD now. You stay up well into the night converting tapes, too excited revisiting old memories to want to continue later.
The next day, phase two of your plan begins, with you uploading the new DVDs to your computer and putting your video editing skills to the test. You’re grinning like an idiot when it’s finally done.
You just hope Schlatt will like it.
You’re pretty sure he will.
Tumblr media
It’s a few weeks later when the big day finally arrives. You can’t even count how many times you’ve had to hold yourself back from giving him his gift early, so excited to see his reaction.
You’re practically vibrating when you lead him to the living room and turn the TV on.
“What’s all this about?” he asks, plopping down on the couch.
“You’ll see,” you say, smiling as you connect your laptop to the TV.
You watch with him as little you and Schlatt are projected onto the big screen. You join him on the couch, listening to your younger self introduce your imagined audience to what the two of you creatively titled “The Dumb Idiots Show.”
You glance over at Schlatt, who is completely glued to the TV. You think you see that his eyes are glistening a little, reflecting the light of the screen, but you don’t say anything, just let the video continue.
The video came out pretty damn good, if you do say so yourself. It had been so much fun reliving these memories, and it’s even better now that you get to share them with your best friend, the one who was with you for all of it.
Eventually, the screen fades to black, and the room falls silent.
“Wow,” is the first thing Schlatt says. He leans back into the couch, running a hand through his hair.
“Did you like it?” you ask, not quite able to keep the nervousness out of your voice.
“Are you kidding?” he asks, voice tinged with disbelief. “I loved it.”
“Really?”
“Really, angel,” he says, pulling you in for a hug.
You sink into the embrace, relief flooding through you.
“I’m impressed,” he says when you part.
“Hmm?”
“Looks like I’m not the only one with video-making skills around here.”
You grin at him. “I mean, did you see my camera work on episode two of ‘The Dumb Idiots Show?’ I’ve always had a knack for it.”
He laughs. “You oughta start your own channel.”
“Maybe I will,” you say with a little smirk. After a moment, your face softens. “Happy anniversary, J.”
“Happy anniversary,” he echoes, a lovesick smile on his own face as he leans in to kiss you.

Any particular Edo!Les Misérables scene you want to see?
I've had a whopping number of 2 (two!) people ask me about Kyojinndenn (1938) and how to watch the movie. :DD
Last time I heard, it's considered lost media. I do have a vhs of it, but I cannot convert it into DVD since I'm outside of Japan. One day when I get to go to Japan for more than a month (since that's how long it usually takes to convert it, I think), I may convert it into DVD.
Other than that, unless someone else posts about it, I think my account may be the closest source you can find for videos.
If you have any suggestions, since I have the full recording of the movie (albeit with very, very quiet sounds), I would be more than happy to upload some scenes here in the meantime.

[Introduction]
The global mega-hit fantasy novel "The Master of Diabolism" has finally been adapted for the stage!
The original work is the BL fantasy novel "The Master of Diabolism" by author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, which was serialized on a Chinese online novel site from October 2015 to March 2016.
The story is set in a fictional ancient China where magicians exterminate demons and evil spirits. It has been developed

It has caused a social phenomenon in Asian countries, and its popularity has not stopped, and it is now explosively popular all over the world.
In Japan, the live-action drama version of "The Untamed" (subtitled version) was broadcast in March 2020, the anime "The Master of Diabolism" (subtitled and dubbed versions) was broadcast, the radio drama was distributed, the original novel was translated and published, and the Japanese version of the manga will be serialized in 2024, and it has been a hot topic of conversation.
Now, it has finally been decided that the story will be adapted into a stage play, a world first.
The subtitle of this first stage production of "The Master of Diabolism" is "Encounter Edition," and it depicts a profound world view and complex human drama.
In addition, a talented cast and staff have come together to mark a new chapter in the media mix development of "The Founder of Diabolism." The character designs will be produced in collaboration with the production committee for the stage production of "The Founder of Diabolism."
The lead character, Wei Wu-Xian, will be played by Shunya Kaneko, who made his debut as a child actor in "Big! Tensai Terebi-kun" and has since appeared in such films as "Ultraman Trigger: New Generation Tiga" and "Perfect Proposal", making this his stage debut. The role of Lan Wangji will be played by Hirose Tomoki (Touken Ranbu the Movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Kimetsu no Yaiba Part 2 Kizuna, etc.), who is active in a variety of fields including stage and film. A3! Outing Event Translation - Hortensia Dedicated to You (5/11)
Tumblr media
*Please read disclaimer on blog; default name set as Izumi
---
Masumi: …? What was in this bag again?
Tumblr media
*opens bag*
Masumi: (Ah… the frog plushie kit I bought at the handicrafts store. I wanted to give it to Yuki but I forgot.) …It’s 9PM, huh? (I’m pretty sure it’s Summer troupe’s bath time. They might pass by if I go to the courtyard.) (? There’s something else in here…) —. …It’s the wedding video tape… (…I forgot what I wanted to do with this.) (I took it with me without thinking, but it could be of grandma and grandpa’s wedding…) (Now that I think about it, it’s possible she was looking forward to getting this tape.) (…I guess I should have this one converted into DVD too.)
-pause-
Masumi: (The rain stopped, but it’s still really groggy out… Maybe I should wait in the living room instead.)
Tumblr media
Tsumugi: —Oh, Masumi-kun?
Banri: What’re you doin’ standing out here?
Muku: Are you waiting for someone?
Tumblr media
Masumi: Muku? Isn’t it Summer troupe’s bath time?
Muku: Yes, everyone else should be there right now. I have something I need to ask Director-san, so…
*door opens*
Itaru: Woah, a rare encounter. What is this ultra rare lineup… Ah, wait, are these the members who want to join the event?
Tumblr media
Tsumugi: That’s correct. We were just on our way to speak to Director about that.
Banri: I also got a lotta help from them durin’ the France Fair.
Muku: After watching the drama, I’ve been dreaming of visiting this lovely hotel. …Except, I’m the type that brings the rain, so what if I summon a record-breaking typhoon on the day of the special event and the whole hotel gets blown away—.
Tsumugi: There’s no need to worry. We will know in advance if a typhoon is coming, and we can make lots of teru teru bozu together before the event.
Muku: Tsumugi-san… I really appreciate it!
Masumi: What about you, Itaru?
Itaru: I was considering volunteering too. It looks like I can adjust my work schedule and I’m technically the one who brought this proposal back. And you, Masumi?
Masumi: …I’m still thinking about it. I’m just here because I have something I want to give to Yuki. I’m waiting for Summer troupe to finish their bath.
Muku: Ah, I see. In that case, they mentioned eating ice cream after their bath, so I bet they’ll stop by the lounge.
Tsumugi: We’re headed that way as well, so why don’t we wait there together? It’s quite hot and humid out here.
Masumi: …Let’s do that.
-pause-
Tsumugi: —Oh, Tasuku?
Banri: Are you also lookin' to volunteer for the event?
Tasuku: No, I just came since I’m looking for Usui. Good timing. If he wasn’t here, then I was going to head to his room.
Tumblr media
Masumi: Me?
Tasuku: Yeah. Here. I’ve copied the tapes you asked for onto DVD.
Tsumugi: Wow, it’s done already. It’s great they take up much less space now.
Itaru: I’m sure the shipping cost got a lot cheaper too.
Masumi: …Thanks.
Tasuku: Are there any more you would like copied?
Masumi: Huh?
Tumblr media
Tasuku: I heard from Tsumugi there might’ve been a tape you forgot to give him.
Tsumugi: …My apologies for overstepping.
Masumi: …It’s okay. I was actually just thinking of handing this over too. …Here.
Muku: “Wedding”. …Is this your parents’ video?
Masumi: I’m not sure. But when I imagined it might be… for some reason I felt reluctant and left it out. But it might also be my grandparents’ video. That’s why I thought I should turn this into a DVD after all.
Tasuku: …Got it. The equipment is still set up, so I’m sure I’ll be able to flip it to you tomorrow.
Masumi: Thanks.
*door opens*
Izumi: Phew. The humidity is off the charts today.
Banri: Oh, Director-chan. Perfect timin’.
Tumblr media
Izumi: ?
Itaru: These 6 members here are the ones who would like to participate in the Juin commemorative event.
Masumi: What?
Tasuku: 6 members—hold on, don’t just rope me in without asking.
Itaru: Oh, no! Anyways…
Tasuku: Hey.
Tumblr media
Itaru: What’s the hesitation, Masumi? It looked like you were interested, weren’t you?
Masumi: …
Izumi: Masumi-kun?
Masumi: Hey… do you think eternal love exists?

how to watch videos on the 3ds
i couldn't find an answer as to what setting to use to convert videos to be readable on my o2ds, so after a bit of experimenting i decided to make this little tutorial. please let me know if you need any aditional help!
your 3ds will need to be hacked. if it isn't already, follow 3ds.hacks.guide.
you will need a computer with handbrake installed on it. you may also need makemkv (if you need to rip the video from a dvd/bluray) and mkvtoolnix (if you wish to add subtitles to your video). you will need video player for 3ds on your console.
step 1: ripping the video from the dvd/bluray
insert your disc into your computer's disc drive. open makemkv. it will look something like this. click the image of a dvd and wait for it to load.
Tumblr media
the contents of it will be listed like this. you may uncheck the boxes of anything you don't want to extract: i am unchecking the french audio and subtitles. once you've selected what to extract, click the button i circled in red and let it do its thing.
Tumblr media
step 2: converting it with handbrake
these settings are optimized for the old 2ds/3ds. the new 2ds/3ds is more powerful and can play higher quality videos but i do not own one to test settings on.
open handbrake. click "file" to select your video file.
in the summary tab, set the format to mkv.
Tumblr media
in the dimensions tab, set the resolution limit to custom and the maximum size to 426x240.
Tumblr media
in the video tab, set the encoder to MPEG-2, set the framerate (fps) to 25 and make sure "peak framerate" is checked, and set constant quality to 5.
constant quality 0 also works, though it has occasional lags when playing the video.
Tumblr media
in the audio tab, change "bitrate" to "quality" and set it to 2. make sure mixdown is set to stereo.
Tumblr media
in the subtitles tab, remove subtitles by clicking the X next to it, unless you want subtitles burned into the video (permanently drawn on it).
save these settings as a new preset for future use, then click "start encode".
step 3: adding subtitles
you may download .srt subtitles from opensubtitles.
open mkvtoolnix-gui.exe. right-click the "source files" window to add your video and your subtitles. click "start multiplexing" on the bottom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
step 4: playing the video on your 3ds
place the file anywhere on your 3ds' sd card. i created a folder named "video" on mine.
place the sd card back inside your 3ds and turn it on. open video player for 3ds.
click the film icon on the touch screen, then press x to choose a file. navigate through your folders until you find your video, then press a to select it. if you have mutiple subtitles tracks, you may be prompted to choose one. your video should play without issues.
did you find this tutorial helpful? you can buy me a ko-fi as thanks!

EDIT: If you see this post first, this is update of 2025, because Zaiko no longer works, here you can see probably more info about adding subs etc, but Morimu is no on Theater Complex and here is info: https://www.tumblr.com/karereiko/774930891629789184/theater-complex-town-platform-specifically-for
Hello, everyone from Yuumori fandom.
Guess what, because of Concert that will be held in July all parts of Moriarty the Patriot Musical (op1-op5) are available to rent and watch online. With my Morimu fanarts or other talks about it I often get asked where you can watch it, often my answer is that you have to buy DVD or Bluray to watch this wonderful adaptation of Moriarty the Patriot manga. I know it's a big cost and hard to get for some so Streaming like this is a great opportunity to watch Morimu.
Official twitter posted few days ago about this possibility and here is the post with all information about it:
Tumblr media
1600 yen is great amount to check if you will like it and wach it because I think it's worth any money, director who made morimu clearly loves manga, he treats source material with care and even makes it batter at some times, there is also a lot less cuts than in anime, like a lot. May be little spoiler or not, but Baskerville arc is there and Durham date too, as well as many Sherlock and John stuff that was cut in anime, some things from Moran arc etc. this is already big selling factor, right?
Actors are amazing and they love and care for characters they play. I wasn't into any actor adaptations before Morimu, I was ok with musicals but not caring too much about them and Morimu sold me since first part and it only got better and better each part even if you think that's not possible. Songs are there to make emotions and moments deeper or to have real fun with plot they show, they are not there just for song to be there. So yes high recommendation for you all to check Morimu if you didn't saw it yet. The most amazing thing is that you don't need VPN to buy those streams.
I was going to write about this few days ago and was busy, good I didn't because I talked with friends in Yuumori fandom who knows morimu and we were troubled to recommend this stream to people who doesn't understand Japanese. Morimu is faithful adaptation so almost like 70% lines comes from manga and you should understand what's going on if you read manga. Still, with subs it's a lot easier.
Kana did amazing job in creating English translation for Morimu Op1-Op4 at this point, all who bought DVD/Bluray versions of Morimu are using those subs and if you decide to buy own copy after seeing stream then those subs works great with DVD/Bluray versions.
So we talked over the stream matter and from what we checked with this plugin to Chrome it's possible to play subs with Morimu stream after you rent it (It works only with Chrome but if you know other program like this you can try it on different browsers, we only checked Chrome and this plugin) :
The only matter is that Kana saved subtitles in .ass file format, but you can easily format them to .srt file format that this plugin plays with this site:
You just open subtitle file and save it as srt, and open it with plugin to your Morimu stream. If you will have any more problems with subs them write me a message and I will try to help as soon as work let's me.
Tumblr media
I think this is the easiest option that creators gave us now to watch Morimu, it was never so easy to buy or rent it until now, you had to use crazy VPN programs and other stuff to just check on it. So this is best option since for sure it won't last forever. Such promotional streamings are only around when new part is coming up, currently Concert I mentioned.
So for other things I wanna to say. If you get your copy of Morimu then please don't share it, don't post it to any social sites. Company that makes Morimu is quite strict with that matter and they do search who uploads those musicals and strikes them down/ deletes files even on places like google drive. Even without it, it's a matter of love for Moriarty the patriot. As much as fandom wants more people to watch those musicals, any piracy might destroy our chances to get Op6, possibilities for future streams and other stuff. Currently with Op5 we reached end of Final Problem arc and there is hope that maybe one day New York arc will be done in op6. Any piracy, sharing and messy stuff might destroy such chance, so please if you hold dear MTP then respect those rules. Watching streams with your friends in closed groups after you buy it isn't bad but please hold from any public sharing (they would be taken down anyway, but it would still put us fans in very bad light).
I know end of this post was not nice but it had to be told. I hope this possibility will help you see Morimu and fall in love with it like I did. I would recommend at least seeing OP1 and OP2, it should hook you and OP3 is where everything hits even more than op1-2, more hits from songs, more hits from sherliam stuff.
Hope to see you in Morimu cult :D... ehem... fandom. May you have "wind" (for some Great Detective) in your heart like William....
