If anyone's curious, I did some research to see if I can find what kind of teachings there might be translated into English, and though I couldn't find any specifically from the whole body in Korea, the Taisho library was copied from them, and there's a project translating them here!

In the remote Buddhist monastery of Haeinsa is preserved the Tripitaka Koreana, the most complete corpus of Buddhist doctrinal texts in the world, dating from 1251.
#Oh the way my eyes WIDENED......#places#world#buddhism#history#I looked it up and THEY'RE CARVED WOODEN BLOCKS?!#also ''Koreana'' here means ''Korean'' apparently. I had no idea Korea had ANYTHING to do with Buddhism!#(Considering its geography it makes sense; I just had never seen Korea mentioned in anything I've ever researched about Buddhism.)#I would love to visit that someday but alas! I cannot read Hanja.#''being created more than 750 years ago''... Gods those writings are OLD!#!!!! Apparently it used to be closed to the public but it was opened in 2021 if you preregister!!!!!#Debating if I want to make one of my linguistic dreams to learn Hanja (which would involve learning to decipher Chinese characters#AND their Korean correlations)#or look into a translation...?#Too late I started looking into a translation#and though there doesn't seem to be any project or word on projects translating the entire Korean body into English#there ARE projects doing so for the collections in China and Japan!#I found a page for the Taisho ones translated into English PDFs and though I've never heard of the organization and thus#I can't vouch for their translation prowess or accuracy#it's an intriguing find!#Actually gonna share a link on the post...#Buddhism deeply fascinates me and it's one of the religions I cite when people ask what my religious beliefs are.#(I don't call myself a Buddhist because I don't believe I am but I do take a lot of wisdom from Buddhist teachings and incorporate them.)#(My meditation and mindfulness practices were largely from Buddhism and I've been practicing those since I was 12 years old!)#(So this interest is both scholastic and personal.)
