Bidenomics vs MAGAnomics
President Biden is growing the economy by growing the middle class, while MAGA Republicans are threatening a devastating government shutdown (again) in order to gut vital programs like Medicare, raise costs for middle-class families, and gut K-12 education funding in nearly every school district in the country—impacting over 26 million students. The difference between Bidenomics and MAGAnomics could not be more clear.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
After holding our economy hostage and deliberately risking catastrophic default earlier this year, MAGA Republicans are at it again—marching us towards a government shutdown that would damage our middle class, our economy, and our future.
The MAGA Republican demands are extreme, reckless, and make indiscriminate cuts to programs that millions of hard-working Americans count on. They’re playing partisan games with peoples’ lives.
Gutting education funding.
Gutting vital programs, like Medicare & Medicaid.
Gutting housing assistance programs.
MAGA Republicans are giving handouts to the ultrarich while raising costs for the middle class.
A government shutdown would hurt the middle class and hurt our economy:
Active service members won’t get their paychecks.
Travelers could face delays at airports.
Food safety inspections could be delayed.
Nearly 7 million women and children could lose access to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Stall critical research on diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s.
Direct reduction in GDP growth every week and the potential to cost our economy billions.
The Senate is advancing bipartisan bills in line with the budget deal President Biden negotiated earlier this year, but MAGA House Republicans are deliberately breaking the deal to gut programs and raise costs for middle class families—and offer a massive tax cut package for greedy corporations.
KEY POINT: MAGA Republicans keep demanding that regular American families pay the price for their massive tax cuts for the uber-wealthy.
These MAGA Republican actions need to be called out for what it is- Political terrorism.
RESEARCH INSIGHTS: MAGANOMICS
MAGAnomics is overwhelmingly unpopular with the American people.
Six in ten voters believe that MAGA Republican policies focus too much on helping the wealthy and corporations.
Over 76% of Americans—including 90% of Democrats, 78% of independents, and 63% of Republicans—support raising federal taxes on corporations and the ultrawealthy, while ensuring middle-class Americans don’t pay more.
Americans also overwhelmingly OPPOSE efforts to gut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Nothing Trump, the GOP or Fox News says or does will make me forget the horrors I watched on Jan 6, 2020. It should have been the end of this traitor.
I will never forgive any of them & won’t let them rewrite history. Truth will prevail.

Calling all artists and writers!
So, a lot of progressive organizations (e.g. Demcast) do electoral work through "social storms," where a group of volunteers post messages on social media about voting. The most time-consuming parts for the volunteers is making images to go with their posts.
A lot of creatives can make the art but aren't good at getting it out there.
This event is for those creatives, who want to contribute to that Harris campaign without having to do a lot of social media. We're going to put our art into the social kits that other people (who are good at this stuff and need art) to post.
It feels good to get your art seen and to use it for good.

Get out the vote for Democrats
I've been part of this Democrat social media effort for a while. The app they use, Reach, is brilliant and ensures that you have direct access to high quality, accurate, and vetted social media content to share on all your platforms ahead of the November election. Highly recommend. Incredibly easy to use.
This is a great way to participate in getting out the vote for Democrats by utilizing your own social media platforms.
"Reach is the best all-around digital organizing tool currently out there. Available both via web browser and mobile app, campaigns and organizations can use Reach to communicate directly with digital activists, house a vast library of shareable content, and drive people to action.
DemCast’s 2024 Digital Field Team is the most active, formidable and effective community on Reach."

ACLU Asks UN Human Rights Council to Investigate U.S. Police
ACLU Asks UN Human Rights Council to Investigate U.S. Police
The ACLU, in conjunction with the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile, and Michael Brown, sent a letter to the UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council). The letter claimed that not only are black people being murdered at the hands of police, but that protesting is being “repressed,” so an investigation is requested.
(Venezuela is on the UNHRC by the way- they do know…

Coalition of National Civil Rights & Advocacy Organizations Issue Joint Statement on Senator Manchin’s Compromise Memo
On June 16, 2021, Senator Manchin released a compromise memo to H.R. 1, For The People Act. The following is a response to this memo signed by a coalition of national civil rights and advocacy organizations.
As we commemorate the courageous work and sacrifices of the Freedom Riders of 1961, we know our responsibility is to build upon this strong foundation and legacy.
Today, the fight for justice and progress continues as we work to protect equal and fair access to the ballot box for all voters. We are clear and consistent in our demand that Congress pass the For The People Act (H.R.1; S. 1) and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
More than 150 million voters turned out to vote in the 2020 elections. Since the House passed H.R. 1, it has received strong bipartisan support from voters across the country. People are demanding swift passage of this legislation without compromise. Instead, our demands have been met with weak legislative proposals, compromises and barriers. But freedom is non-negotiable. And we will not rest until justice is served.
Senator Manchin’s compromise fails to adequately address the more than 400 voter suppression measures that are being introduced across the country. This proposal also negates the years of work that thousands of voting rights advocates and policymakers have given to the creation of legislation accepted by voters across this country. Most damaging is its neglect of protections for formerly incarcerated and justice impacted voters; voters with disabilities; Black and all multi-marginalized voters. There has been no indication from Senator Manchin’s reported conversations with conservatives that he has been able to secure Republican support for any of the core elements of S1 which is disappointing to the many activists who are pushing for passage of the bill.
In 1963, at the March on Washington, Bayard Rustin demanded that Congress pass the Civil Rights law with no compromises, and in 2021 his tenacious spirit to move Black people into liberty remains.
Congress must meet this moment with the same courage and commitment exhibited by the Freedom Riders of 1961 and today. Our coalition is united in our pursuit of collective liberation. We demand that Congress listen to the majority of voters across this country and pass the For The People Act immediately.
