Newest release from UK’s MARKOSIA COMICS blends history, fantasy and horror to tell the untold story of the Black Death.
Once again leading the way in cutting-edge storytelling, Markosia brings the past of the British Isles to life in their edgy newest release. Reframing the story of the bubonic plague as a tale of good versus evil and magic versus faith, PLAGUE is Inspired by actual people and events of the 16th century and uses extensive research of long held folklore beliefs to tell the story of THE FEY; magical creatures of myth and legend being hunted by a corrupt Catholic Church.

By drawing on modern themes of immigration, refugees, despotism and religious zealotry, PLAGUE is a genre-bending historical fantasy. Drawing heavily from Bakshi’s animated interpretation of the “The Hobbit” and historical fiction a la Eco’s “In The Name of the Rose” and Follett’s “The Pillars of the Earth”, we hope that PLAGUE manages to feel 500 years old and fresh at the same time.
