Elhamdülillahi Rabbil alemin. Vesselatü vesselamü ala seyyidina Muhammedin ve ala alihi ve sahbihi ecmaîn. Haşim: Resûl-i Ekrem (sav), Haşimoğullarından gelmiştir. Haşim'e, Abdü'l-Ala da derler. Sebebi şöyle anlatılır; "Mekke-i Mükerreme'de bir zaman kıtlık oldu. Halk zor durumda kaldı. Haşim, Şam tarafına gidip fazlaca un satın alarak geldi. Ekmek pişirip çuvallara doldurarak; Mekke-i Mükerreme'ye gider; her sabah bir deve, her akşam bir deve keser ve ekmekleri doğrayıp tirit yapardı. Sonra tellal bağırtıp halkı ziyafete çağırırdı. Halk içinde bu özelliğiyle meşhur olup, O'na Haşim denildi." O, herkes tarafından sevilir ve sayılırdı. Habîbullah'ın (sav) nuru onun alnında parlıyordu. O, bu yüzden hiçbir puta secde etmemiştir. Ehl-i kitaptan ona kim rastlasa, elini öperdi. Herşey ona secde ederdi. Her kabile, kızlarını ona arzederdi. Hatta Rum Kayseri de bu nur sebebiyle, kızını Haşim'e arz etti. O ise kabul etmedi; 'Ben ancak en temiz, en afif, en kibar kadınla evlenirim, başkasıyla evlenemem' diye yemin etti. Rüyasında Selma binti Ömer'i nikah etmesi emr olundu. Mekke'den Medine'ye geldi. Benî Necar kabilesinden Selma binti Ömer'i nikah etti. Selma, güzellikte, fazilette, fesahatta ve belagatta Hatice (ra) gibiydi. Abdülmuttalib'e hamile oldu. Haşim ticaret için Şam'a gitti. Gazze'de vefat etti. Oraya defnedildi. Abdülmuttalib: Medine şehrinde doğdu. Asıl adı Şeybe'dir. Şeybe-tü'1-Hamd diye anılırdı. Zira O doğduğu zaman saçı beyaz idi. Bazıları der ki, O'nun güzel halleri çok olduğu için Şeybetü'1-Hamd denilmiştir. Abdülmuttalib denmesinin sebebi ise şu idi: Amcası O'nu Medine'den getirirken, elbiseleri eski olup ve yüzünün rengi güneşten değiştiği için Şeybe'yi kimse tanıyamadı. 'Bu çocuk kimdir?' diye soranlara Muttalib; 'kölemdir' diye cevap verirdi. Abdülmuttalib, ilerleyen zaman içinde asrının bir tanesi oldu. Her devlet reisi onu sever ve sayardı. Yalnız Acem Kisrası onu çekemez, düşmanlık ederdi. O'nun on oğlu ve altı kızı oldu. Oğullan: Haris, Ebû Leheb, Hacil, Mukavvim, Dirar, Zübeyr, Ebû Talib, Abdullah, Hamza ve Abbas'tır. Bazıları onüç oğlu oldu deyip Aydak, Kuşem ve Abdülkabe'yi de sayarlar. Kızları ise Safîye, Atike, Beyda, Berre, Vahime ve Erva idi. Abdullah: Efendimizin (sav) babası, büyüdükçe aklı aşan bir sürü olay yaşıyordu. Rüya aleminde mi yaşıyor, hakiketle mi yüz yüze, nedir bu gördükleri, başına gelenler, içinde bulunduğu hal? Sırrını babası Abdülmuttalib'e açıyor: 'Babacığım garip vak'alarla karşılaşıyorum.' 'Ne gibi?' 'Bir yere gidecek olsam yolda belimden bir nur çıktığını ve bunun başımın üstünde toplanarak bulut haline geldiğini görüyorum. Ne zaman, nereye otursam, toprak bana selam verdikten sonra ilave ediyor: 'Ey Abdullah, haberin var mı, Muhammed aleyhisselamın emanetini taşıyorsun!' Kurumuş, hayat izi kalmamış bir ağacın altında dinlenecek olsam, o kupkuru ağaç az sonra zümrüt gibi yemyeşil oluyor. Biraz uzaklaşınca geriye dönüp baktığımda yine eskisi gibi kurumuş olduğunu görüyorum. Babacığım nedir bu hal, ne oluyor; anlamıyorum?' 'Ey oğlum, sana müjdelerin en güzeli olsun!.. İnsanların ve cinlerin Efendisi; canlıların ve cansızların Peygamberi senin canından ve kanından dünyaya gelecektir. Anlattıkların buna delalet ediyor. Ben de benzeri birçok fevkalade hadiseyi yaşadım. Onlar da aynı haberin müjdesiydi. Hayırlı olsun! Seni bir değil, bin kere tebrik ederim evladım. Sana olan muhabbetim boşuna değilmiş...' Abdullah artık delikanlı... Ancak o, diğer gençlerden ne kadar üstün. Ahlakı daha güzel; güzelliği apayrı ve çok farklı. O'nun tavrında, onun halinde, onun güzelliğinde ikinci bir genç bulmak mümkün değil. Eskaza Abdullah putların yanından geçse, onlardan bir ses: 'Ey Abdullah, sakın bize yaklaşmayasın! Sen yüksek şan sahibi o emsalsiz insanın nurunu taşıyorsun. O son Peygamberdir. Bize tapan bedbahtlar, O'nun eliyle cezasını bulacaktır!..' diyordu. Aslı Nûr, Nesli Nûr Nurdan yaratılan; aslı nûr, nesli nûr, ismi nûr, misali-timsali nûr olan; alemi zulmet karanlığından hidayet nuruna çıkaran Canlar Canı, nûr olduğunu sevgili eşine beyan etmek üzere, 'Ya aişe, şu kuşağımı al; onunla beni çek' buyurdu. Aişe annemiz kuşağı mübarek zahrine sardı, çekti; kuşak boş geldi. Çok şaşırdı. Bunu defalarca denedi, her seferinde sonuç aynı idi. Hayretler içinde Sultanlar Sultanına sebebini sordu. Cihan Güneşi, tevazu ve vakar içinde, 'Ya aişe! Bilmiyor musun, ben nurum', buyurdu. Bu yüce Nûr, ezelden ebede, Hz. adem'den Hz. Abdullah'a kadar seçkin, mümtaz alınlardan akıp gelmişti. Kimin alnında zuhur ettiyse, o, asrın seçkini, muhteremi, bereket kaynağı olmuştu. Bu nuru, kutsal emaneti taşıyan bahtiyar insanlara; gökte melekler, yerde insanlar tarafından hürmet edilmişti. İyi tohumdan, iyi mahsûl çıktığı 'Verimli bölgenin nebatı Rabbi'nin izni ile bol çıkar, çorak bölgede ise çıkmaz../ (A'raf:58) ayetiyle sabit, yaygın bir gerçektir. 'alimden alim olmak adettir; cahilden alim olmak ne büyük saadettir' diyenler, isabet buyurmuşlar. En yüce soya mensup olmasına rağmen, soyuyla övünenleri ikaz etmek üzere, kendi soyuna hitabedip, 'Ey Haşimoğullan! Yarın herkes kendi ameliyle gelirken, siz nesebinizle gelmeyin' buyurmuş; ümmetini insan olarak, mü'min olarak değerlendirmiş, soyuna-silsilesine göre paye biçmemişti. Günlerden bir gün mübtedî sahabilerden bir kaçı, soylarından bahsedip Selman'a da soyundan sormuşlar; Selman, mahcup, boynu bükük, 'Ben İslam'ın oğluyum!' demişti. Olay Resûl-ü Zîşan'a (sav) nakl olunca, Selman'ı saadetten uçuracak, sevinçten başını semaya değdirecek şu kutlu inciler, pak lisanlarından dökülmüştü: 'Selman, benim ehl-i beytimdendir!' Bu güzel müjdeden ümmetini de mahrum bırakmayıp, 'Her müttakî (Allah korkusu taşıyan), benim ehl-i beytimdendir' buyurmuş, rahmetini inci gibi ümmetinin üzerine saçmıştı. Ey Gözümün Nuru! Demek ki topyekün ümmetin 'Allahümme salli ala seyyidina Muhammedin ve ala ali seyyidina MuhammedI Allah'ım! Efendimiz Muhammed'e ve onun aline, ehl-i beytine rahmet eyle' diye getirdikleri salavattan, coşkun kereminizle, takva sahibi ümmetinizi de 'Ehl-i beytim' diyerek nasibdar buyuruyorsunuz. Ey, her fırsatta ümmetini düşünen, ümmeti için gözyaşı döken, gece sabahlara kadar ümmeti için Rabbine yalvaran şefkat pınarı, has bahçenin solmaz gülü, aşk-ı İlahi bahçesinin bülbül-ü nalanı! Sana, aline, ashabına, ezelden ebede uzanan soy ve silsilene, kıyamete kadar geçmiş-gelecek soylar ve onların aldığı nefesler sayısınca, bitimsiz salat-ü selamlar olsun. Müttakîlere imam olma niteliğinde olan mümtaz ümmetinin sayısının çokluğuyla, pak gönlünü mesrur etsin. Asırların beklediği Evvel, en evvel, herşeyden evvel Malike'l-Mülk, Yüce Yaratıcı, Ahsenü'l-Halikîn (en güzel Yaratan) Habîb-i Kibriyasının nurunu yaratmış; o nurdan damla damla enbiyanın, evliyanın, asfîyanın ruhlarını yaratarak, O'na Ebû'l-Ervah (ruhların babası) unvanını vermiştir. Nebîlerin nurları, aralarında gördükleri ihtişamlı, şaşaalı nurun kim olduğunu merak edip sormuşlar, Hallak-ı alem, onun nûr-u Muhammedi olduğunu haber vermiş; hepsi ihtiram ve saygılarını sunmuşlar. Rabblerinin, 'Eğer o sizin asrınızda gelirse, ona îman edip tabi olursanız, sizi peygamber seçerim' buyruğunu kabul etmişler. O nur sayesinde var olmuş, o nura saygıları sayesinde insanlığın en yüksek rütbesi olan peygamberlik şerefine mazhar olmuşlar. Her peygamber kendi asrında Habîbullah'ı (sav) anlatmış, ümmetine tanıtmış, onun geleceğini müjdelemiş. Hatta Hz. îsa, Hz. Hızır gibi bazı peygamberler de o yüce Habîbe ümmet olma şerefini kazanmak için Rabblerine yalvarmışlar. Her asırda kainatın incisini hasretle beklemişler, Mi'rac gecesi Beyt-i Makdes'te rûh-u enbiya cem olup, Resûlûllah'ın (sav) imametiyle cemaatla namaz kılmışlar. Resûlûllah (sav), İmamü'l-Enbiya; peygamberler de Habîbullah'a (sav) cemaat olma makamına nail olmuşlar. Peygamberlere gelen her saife, her Kitap son peygamberden bahsetmiş; onun özelliklerinden, şemail-i şerifinden, yüce ahlakından, bitimsiz sevgi ve şefkatinden, ümmetine olan düşkünlüğünden söz etmişler. Yer gök, canlı cansız mahlûkat, o Gönüller Sultanı'nı bekler olmuş. Gökteki yıldızlar, onun gelmesine alamet (nişan) taşımışlar. Kimileri onun gelişini gökleri seyrederek 'İşte Ahmed'in yıldızı doğdu' diyerek haber vermiş. Bin yıldır mecûsilerin batıl inançları için hiç söndürülmemecesine yanan ateşi, bütün müdahalelere rağmen sönerek tezahürat göstermiş. Asırlar önce 'Soyumdan bir peygamber getir' (Bakara: 128) diye yalvaran İbrahim Halîlullah için sönen ateş, şimdi de o duanın icabeti olan Habîbullah şerefine sönüyor, o cihan nurunun karşısında yanmaya dayanamayacağım lisan-ı hal ile beyan ediyordu. Allah-u Teala bu sö-ndürüşle, yanlış itikat sahibi olan mecûsilere de ikaz tokatı indirerek; uyanıp, gerçeği görmelerini istiyordu. Kisra'nın sarayı, Yüce Sultan'ın gelişini, on dört şerefesini yıkarak kutlamıştı. Zalim hükümdarlar kabus görürken, mazlumun kırık gönlü çiçek çiçek açıyor, kurtuluş günlerini umutla bekliyordu. Yıllardır kurumuş Semave vadisi, o Güzeller Güzeli'ni, suyunu taşırarak karşılarken; Save gölü de, kuruyarak tezahürat gösteriyordu. O gece göğün nuru yere inmiş, sanki yıldızlar şükür secdesine kapanmış, Kabe'deki putlar sahte ilahlıktan kurtulmak istediklerini parçalanarak yüz üstü yere yıkılarak dile getirmişlerdi. Allah'ın evi, arınmanın sevincini şimdiden yaşıyordu. Medine müslümanlarının Resûlûllah'ı (sav) Veda tepelerinde Talaa'l-bedru' ile karşılamaları, sevinçleri, coşkuları, bekleyişleri, heyecanları gibi; Resûlûllah'ın (sav) gelişine bütün kainat seviniyor, coşuyor, tezahürat gösteriyor, her şey kendi dilince, 'Merhaba ey derde derman merhaba! Merhaba ey al-i Sultan merhaba!' diyordu. Mi'rac gecesi yedi kat semada, nebilerin 'Merhaba, hoş-geldin salih evlat, salih peygamber' demesi gibi, her şey kendi dilince Cihan Şahı'nı karşılıyor, yıllardır hasretini çektikleri Hidayet Güne-şi'nin doğmasından mest-ü hayran oluyordu. Yaratıcısı dahi ona Sirac-ı Münîr (nur saçan kandil) diye hitap ederek, iltifat ediyordu.

A social responsibility project “a toy is a smile”, which was organised by Çatalköy Municipality, started on 20th November 2019 and ended on 20th December 2019.

Toys collected within the scope of the project were started to be distributed by Çatalköy Mayor Mehmet Hulusioğlu, Culture and Art Coordinator Derman Atik and Campaign Officer Erbil Akün and  were first delivered to Karakum Kindergarten, Girne Special Education Center and then to Girne Akçiçek Hospital Children’s Clinic. In the following days, toys were also delivered to Dr. Nicosia. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Develet Hospital Oncology Children’s Clinic, Lefkosa Special Education Center and to the kindergartens and primary schools in the Karpaz Region.

During the delivery of toys, Çatalköy Mayor Mehmet Hulusioğlu celebrated the new year with the authorities, students and patients in the hospitals and he presented the toys himself.

The newly established Girne Municipality Chamber Orchestra gave its first concert at Girne Ramadan Cemil Square on 25th July, which was highly appreciated by the audience.

 The orchestra was conducted by Cemre Seziner and music of the composers Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Purcell, Caccini, Jenkins, Bizet, Di Sarli and Faure was performed. Before the concert, a press conference was held on the establishment of Kyrenia Municipality Chamber Orchestra.

Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü pointed out that they had made firsts and innovations in many different fields such as the International Olive Cartoons Competition, Vounos Stone Sculpture Symposium, and the City Museum and Art Gallery. He stated that the work on culture and art continues to develop.  Conservatory graduated artists applied to them with the idea of the establishment of a Chamber Orchestra and the orchestra was created by the decision of the Council, it has been rehearsing for the last 3 months.

Girne Municipality General Art Director Derman Atik stated that important works have been achieved in the fields of culture and art in the last 5 years and pointed out that if the steps taken today had been taken years ago, Girne would be at a better point.  Derman Atik stated that they had felt the great lack of a Chamber Orchestra in the Municipality for many years and thanked Cemre Seziner who had provided the formation of the Chamber Orchestra and the members of the orchestra.

Cemre Seziner, the conductor of Girne Municipality Chamber Orchestra, stated that municipalities and artists exist to serve the public and that he believes that important work will be accomplished with this cooperation. Cemre Seziner thanked the Mayor of Girne Nidai Güngördü, General Art Director Derman Atik and members of the city council who supported them on their way to the establishment of the orchestra.

The play was staged by the Children’s Team of Girne Municipality Theatre Studio on Saturday 1st June, under the direction of Ismihan Yorgancı. At the end of the play the children who participated were presented with certificates by Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü and Girne Municipality Art Director Derman Atik.

Nidai Güngördü, Mayor of Girne, pointed out that a society that grows with culture and art helps the younger generation to become responsible people and behave more respectfully to nature and the environment. Nidai Güngördü expressed his appreciation for the play performed by the children who had worked during the year and thanked Girne Municipality Children’s Theatre Director Ismihan Yorganci and everyone who contributed to the play.

Çatalköy Municipal Theatre team organised a play as part of the Girne Municipality Autumn and Winter term of Culture and Art activities.

The play, directed by Nermin Uğur, is based on a Tennessee Williams play and tells the story of two adolescents enslaved in the system – “There is a danger of collapse”, performed by young actors Ilik Atik and Coşkun Kıraloğlu.

The performance is also to be staged at the Girne Municipality Theatre on 3rd and 5th December, starting at 8pm.

Girne Mayor Nidai Gungordi, said the performance showed great attention to the morale and motivation of young players on the stage, so they will work more to improve themselves. Nidai Güngördü pointed out the importance of the cooperation of Girne and Çatalköy Municipalities and thanked everyone who contributed to the play on stage, Çatalköy Mayor Mehmet Hulusioğlu and General Art Director Derman Atik.

Exactly one year ago I wrote enthusiastically about the opening of the 2nd Symposium, how much was talked about the event, but this year’s event was even more in everybody’s voice and mind.

Having just come back from Johannesburg South Africa, I’ve practiced, I’ve experienced the same spirit.

The many artists who have come from all parts of the world. Rauf Ersenal has been working in the first place in the world. It goes slowly and steadily.

I’ve been back on the island in time for the grand opening which took place on 8th September. It was beautiful and serene with the youth and the young archers shooting light signals into the dark sky. The guests of honour, HE Mustafa Akinci and his wife Meral, the Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, the Mayors of Kyrenia and Catalkoy, Nidai Güngördü and Mehmet Hulusioğlu were shown around by the organizers Rauf Ersenal, Derman Atik and others to the various huts where the artists had been working daily since 1st September until late hours producing replicas of the artefacts of the past. I was particularly curious to meet the German delegation from Manufactum Historicum (click here), Chris Eger and Kevin Frank who had come to produce them. Read their website.  They were clad in costumes.  They had great fun and were totally involved in the business. They plan to come also next year for the Symposium 2020. Rauf Ersenal said that they were most welcome.

The VOUNOUS event will continue until 16th September. I am sure, we will be able to admire the whole range of artefacts in an exhibition Rauf Ersenal will organize. In the meantime I trust that the spirit and the weather will continue to be good and inspiring.

The Vounos International Terracotta Exhibition was opened at the Girne Municipality Art Gallery.

Girne Municipality Art Gallery hosted the works prepared by Rauf Ersenal and coordinated by Çatalköy Municipality at the Vounos International Terracotta Symposium. It was open to the public until 12th March.

Speaking at the opening, Girne and Çatalköy Municipality Artistic Director Derman Atik expressed his interest in the exhibition which opened at the Girne Art Gallery following the exhibition at the Bedesten in Lefkosa and thanked those who contributed to the project.

Project coordinator Rauf Ersenal, who began the project in cooperation with Çatalköy Municipality said excavations were carried out in the 1930s in the Vounous region, 5,000 years after the emergence of the region.  He also stated that the people of the region sent messages to the future with their works of art to live on and by producing replicas we are promoting the continuation of this culture.

Çatalköy Mayor Mehmet Hulusioğlu stated that Northern Cyprus has an advantage in terms of the old works and that this situation should contribute to the promotion of  tourism and country’s economy. Hulusioğlu pointed out that there are works waiting to be discovered under the ground, and they can be brought up and exhibited together with the existing works.  Hulusioglu, also stated that steps should be taken to bring back the works which have gone overseas.

Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü said that by producing replicas of the works which are now overseas the past can be revived and the life and culture of the period can be seen.   Girne and Çatalköy Municipalities cooperate especially in the areas of art and culture.  There are not only casinos and hotels in Girne and Çatalköy, which are tourist areas but also there are people who add value to art. There are those who come to attend these exhibitions. We create awareness and make a difference by making culture and art available, he said.

The Kyrenia Amateur Dramatic Society (KADS) are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and continue to entertain the public with their superb productions at the Girne Cultural Centre theatre.  All of the profits from their performances are donated to 2 charities – Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR) and SOS Children’s Village.

KADS are so grateful for the support of the Girne Belediyesi and so they wished to thank the Mayor, Nidai Güngördü for his ongoing support in allowing KADS to use the lovely theatre at the Cultural Centre which is opposite the Police Station in Girne and a presentation was arranged in the Mayor’s Office in Girne.

Margaret Ray, Chairman of KAR attended for her charity and also present on behalf of SOS Children’s Village were Ahmet Akarsu – Programme Manager and Şirin Damdelen who is responsible for fund raising.   The KADS members were Stephen Everett – Chairman, Beverley Westbrook – Secretary and Don Attwood – Treasurer.

KADS Chairman, Stephen Everett, thanked the Mayor for his support and said KADS were happy to support the two charities and donations will continue.

Margaret Ray also gave her thanks to the Mayor and said how important it is for funds to keep coming especially to meet veterinary bills which are in the region of 10,000/15,000TL per month so she was very grateful to KADS for their support.

In his speech, Ahmet Akarsu of SOS Children’s Village also thanked the Mayor and Girne Municipality for sponsoring KADS and enabling funds to be raised for the charity.  He said: “Each year KADS donates proceeds from its productions to SOS Children’s Village, which goes towards meeting the needs of children receiving family based care under our programmes”.  “I congratulate KADS on their 40th anniversary and thank them once again for their support.” Ahmet also presented a plaque to Stephen Everett in appreciation for the support of KADS.

Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü said: “The collaboration of the Municipality and civil society organisations in the cosmopolitan town of Girne is important to us.”   Thanking the two organisations for their work in the community, he added the municipality would continue its work in supporting civil society groups.

KAR and SOS Children’s Village were each presented with 2,435TL from the proceeds of the last KADS production “Absolute Kads and Bounders III”  and KADS presented the Mayor with a lovely bonsai tree.   The Mayor is obviously a lover of plants judging by the large array of plants in his office.

Speaking with Stephen and Beverley after the presentation, we were told that they are working on a production of 2 sketches, one will be a follow on from the previous Last Tango in Girne and the other is called Thermal Underwear, the provisional dates are 29th/30th/31st October.   As the Cultural Centre theatre will be undergoing refurbishment, Derman Atik has kindly offered the Çatalköy theatre for these performances.  There will be more information to follow about the new KADS production in the near future.
