Happy WBW!! Let's talk powers this week: does your world feature magic in any capacity? Is your world's magic innate to the people/world, or learned? What does a basic rundown of these powers look like? Do you prefer making hard rules or whimsical guidelines for your magic? - magic-is-something-we-create

Okay, so the world that is most magic-centric would be the TOMS/TMJ world (they’re both about Chip, but at different points of his life).

And in this world, it is DEFINITELY learned. He didn’t even start learning how to use magic until tragedy struck. :)

I wouldn’t say magic in this world is... “powers.” I would call it more... okay, let me explain it.

Magic in this is more potions and enchanting things. It’s not like I cast a spell on you kind of thing (see what I did there with the Halloween reference?)... it’s like... okay, so the whole point of TMJ is that Chip will literally enchant all of the jewelry he designs for his shop... so the whole WIP follows his customers when they buy his jewelry. I looove that series and need to start writing more stories for it. <3 it was so fun to write!

Anyway, so that’s kind of how the magic works in that world. It’s not like he just prefers that kind of magic. Magic spells just... don’t exist/work in that world. Only enchanting items by dipping them into potions work. Curses don’t work unless you curse an item that someone takes from you.

I don’t feel like I can really accurately answer the last question simply because I’ve never tried doing hardfast rules for magic. I mean, yes there are hard rules for like hybrids vs vampires vs elves vs werewolves in DHaF/HD/roleplay world but that’s not the same as MAGIC rules. (:

Reasons I Love Chip

Chip... the other character whose name no one knows. The only people that knew it are dead. Even his best friend doesn’t know.

As per this post, I am doing a "reasons I love __" series in which I talk about why I love my WIPs and characters. I'm taking my OC page   and using that as my guide for what order to write about characters. I   skipped the rp/OHS characters for now, though, since I talk about them the most.

I've already talked about DHaF, Belinda, Ikuisuus, Juma, Chippy, DHaFN, Ruby, Soul Surgery, Jason Zephyr, The Forest, Amelia R., Cadence, Vampire Idol rewrite, Elizabeth, Nane, Humanity’s Demon, Demonic,  Samuel, Katherine A, Clarissa, Humanity’s Demon 2.0, Satan, Lucifer, Azrael, Fredrich, Lilith, Apollyon, Aamon, Master,  Raguel, Michaelveli, Catrina, Zadkiel, Kenneth, Franklin and The Magic  Jeweler.

Here is what I love about Chip:

he is literally the epitome of why I love the elderly

he is really bubbly and energetic for his age - you’d never guess he’s in his 60′s

while he is not above using magic, he absolutely has his limits for what he’s willing to do with it

no one really knows the limit of his power

he has a dark past no one knows about

he literally almost destroyed a city but hides his remorse with a smile and a magic shop that could literally kill more people (xD)

he isn’t just the shop owner. He does the designing, makes the jewelry AND puts the magic on them. He literally does everything even at his age

he’s tall too. I think I said 6′4

Um... well, I’ve personally only made a couple AUs of which only one is like a traditional AU trope (coffee shop au). The others are what I call the “mentally healthy” au and the other one is just... role-swapping for my DHaF characters (Belinda is the reaper, Juma is the human and Iku is the goddess).
