Welcome to the big soaker experiment. I'm doing some stashbusting and trying out different diaper soaker patterns. I made a mistake in this one (count the ridges) and it still needs to be lanolised, but it feels good to ACTUALLY FINISH A PROJECT.

Wool used:

The first wool I ever handspun, which was very thick-thin and chunky, but knit up rather well.

Combined with some Katia sock wool that I felt very betrayed by (the packaging made it look like bi pride colours but it had a big stretch of muddy orange), held triple.

The Great Soaker Experiment, part 2! Ft pink wool I'm really not fond of. These soaker have no short row shaping so they don't fit as pleasingly as the previous pair.

Look, I'm talking about diaper changes here. Specifically about factors that make them unpleasant. (Yes, we all know that the answer is "using disposables", but I'm being more specific.) You may well want to scroll past.

I will preface this by saying that yes, I know that commenting on public stuff on Facebook is a horrible idea, but sometimes the stupid is just too strong. The number of parents who think that changing cloth diapers is grosser than changing disposable ones was impossible to ignore. (If you are washing your own I will entertain the argument that you find having to deal with the disposable diaper garbage less gross than the diaper laundry, yes.)

But what gets me is that there are apparently large numbers of parents who not only don't dump diapers into the toilet (confession time: I've pretty much never done that, because when the change table in the airport washroom is located poorly, that's just not happening), they are unaware that that's what you're supposed to do. Not just "wait, you're supposed to do what?" but "that's stupid, why would anyone do that?". And yes, the follow-up wasn't "why would someone go to that much bother" but "why would they tell you to do it"

Can we maybe, as a society, agree that keeping biohazards out of the dump is a good thing?

Insane watching these videos of all these people and babies getting pulled out of rubble, missing limbs, dead, and world leaders aren’t doing anything!!!!!!! Bombing hospitals and mosques!! It’s fucking sickening!!!! All because of money and power. Over 10 thousand people are dead in one month!! Over one million displaced with no drinkable water, no food!! Where is the humanity, where is the sympathy ???? What the fuck man it’s so infuriating and these people in power don’t care. Calling and emailing reps, posting on social, and protests only help so much!! Please end this now!!!! Call for a ceasefire now, please!!!!
