It’s been almost a week now and I am still extremely emotional that Diath is canonically Evelyn’s best friend
#dice camera action#diath woodrow#evelyn avalona helvig marthain#listen literally the second tag that comes up when I type in Evelyn's name is#Diath & Evelyn are my brotp and I have a lot of emotions about them at any given time#AND THAT IS FOR A REASON#they've been my brotp since. like. season two.#I had SO MANY EMOTIONS about their friendship and how they related to each other#as the two members of the wafflecrew who have that overwhelming theme of DUTY#how they understood each other in that way#and then in episode 52 when Evelyn handed Diath the shards of Lightfall#and told him he was real good at making something beautiful out of a whole lot of broken pieces#I WAS IRREVOCABLY SOLD. THIS WAS THE FRIENDSHIP IN THIS SHOW MY HEART WAS SET ON.#and then episode 73 happened and AAAUGH#I STILL HAVE SO MANY EMOTIONS ABOUT THAT#AND /NOW/ EPISODE 131#'you're the best friend I've ever had' made me FREAK OUT SO MUCH#AND IT STILL GIVES ME SO MANY EMOTIONS#I AM IN A VERY EMOTIONAL STATE

I think probably one of my favourite things with Diath and Evelyn is how they each have the speech pattern that you would expect the other to have
That’s just. a really neat bit of mirroring between them.
#dice camera action#diath woodrow#evelyn marthain#Diath & Evelyn are my brotp and I have a lot of emotions about them at any given time#ESPECIALLY about all the mirrorings and parallels between them#and how they look to each other for things and believe in each other so much when they don't believe in themselves#and I just. THEIR FRIENDSHIP IS VERY IMPORTANT#AND THEIR SPEECH PATTERNS ARE ONE OF THE VERY FASCINATING ONES#because the noble-born temple-raised paladin is running around dropping 'y'all's and calling her parents 'Mama' and 'Papa'#and the street urchin who dragged himself out of the gutter is walking around with Incredibly Formal Speech Patterns#and all evidence points to him having called Ashton 'Father'#which is really the inverse of what you'd expect. and I LOVE IT#I have other thoughts about Diath's speech patterns but they're less related to his relationship with Evelyn#and more connected to headcanons that I have about his neurotype
