THE RULER HAD BEEN WORKING when Duke came in and sat himself on his lap, but he was hardly annoyed by his decision to give him some company. The questions were a different story- had anyone else dared to ask such personal things would’ve found themselves crushed before they’d even managed to complete the query.

But this was Duke- and it was clear he wasn’t of completely sound mind at the moment. Ozzie could forgive him for that at least. One hand continues typing away, while another lightly curls around the vampire’s waist so that he wouldn’t slip off his lap if his wiggling got too much. 

“I have a... INTERESTING lineage, dear.” He says lightly, eyes still on the screen but his smaller heads hover down to give Duke some affectionate nuzzles. “Far too complicated to go into now, I think.”

FINGERS DANCE ACROSS THE KEYS OF THE PIANO, his hands gracefully glide over the ivory as he played a slow, relaxing rendition of one of the songs he'd heard playing downstairs in the club earlier. LUX was closed for the night, and Lucifer knew he SHOULD be alone.

The sound of the elevator reaching the penthouse had the devil pausing his song, head turning to look towards the entrance. Well. This should certainly be an interesting night.

I had a resistance leader AU for Ferno that I’d love to get to explore more. One that’s basically about him covertly running an underground rebel movement planning to overthrow Asgore. I’ve only gotten to do a few threads with it, but I think it taps into something I really like about Ferno, that just hasn’t come up in a lot of his story threads. 

Ferno has consistently been one of the easier characters for me to write, because he’s... I don’t want to say “simple” because that sounds like “flat,” but it’s more--I always have a pretty good idea of how Ferno is going to act in a situation. His characterization is something that’s developed in a very clear and straightforward way in the time I’ve been writing him. And one thing about him that I really like, something that will always inform his relationship to figures in authority, is his unwillingness to tolerate injustice, or people who use their power to cause harm. As a result, Asgore’s tyranny within the universe of Underfell is something that wouldn’t have sat well with him. And while Ferno would be the type to keep to himself for a while, there would be a point, there would be a line, where he would inevitable say “Fuck it, that is enough.” 

I really liked the few threads I was able to do in that verse. Ferno gets to show his chops a bit as a leader, and as being more clever than folks tend to give him credit for. He’s a big himbo goofball, sure, but he deliberately plays up that side of himself to put the people around him at ease and make them comfortable. At his core, he’s observant and very emotionally savvy, and has a sharp understanding of tactics from his time in the war. 

I’d love to get to play around more in that AU. Either during an active rebellion or in the aftermath, where I feel like--a King Ferno verse would honestly be pretty rad??
