This weekend I attended my first wedding! My cousin had a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony. She kept to a black and red color scheme which I LOVED. I booked a hotel room months in advance (which is definitely a must) and was able to get a room in the hotel directly next door to the venue. Very convenient getting to the wedding and home from the reception! With that taken care of, it then came down to the real important issue, what to wear!

I got this dress from Dillard’s. I’m in love with it. It’s got a vintage look to it with a modern twist. I’m a sucker for body con. I’ve noticed off the shoulder sleeves like these being really popular right now. I don’t know where they’ve been all my life!

I was going to go with my black Steve Madden sandal heels, but I made a last minute decision and opted for an old pair of black lace heels. They added to the modern, vintage look I was trying to channel.

Another last minute decision; the fish tail braid. I have never worn a fish tail braid before and still don’t know how to actually do it myself. Luckily my friend and plus one to the wedding knew how! It was both pretty and practical and lasted all night. It’s a really great option for people with crazy long hair like me. I wanted to avoid the later consequences of wearing my hair down. So many tangles, so little time.
