Other common ingredients in the food are fermented red chili paste, sesame oil, fermented bean paste, a variety of nuts (candlenut, chestnuts, hazelnut, almonds, cashew nuts, gabon nuts, pistachio nuts, walnuts, pine nuts), coconuts, and dragon fruit. Grains are one of the most important staples of their food, with grains such as barley and millet were the main staples and were supplemented by wheat, sorghum, and buckwheat aside from rice.
They also have medicinal food, which is a wide variety of specialty foods prepared and eaten for medicinal purposes, especially during the hottest 30-day period in the lunar calendar. There are also special side dishes usually consumed with alcohol.
Usual drinks to food is tea, fruit punch, a sort of non-alcoholic sweet rice drink called sikhye, persimmon punch, honeyed water, and dew liquor, an alcohol made from rice or barley and consumed straight.
