DAY 2: Giza sightseeing Tours

DAY 3: Cairo - Alexandria Tour

Egyptians New Year Day

Egyptians New Year Day the Egyptian New Year was celebrated on the first day of the month of Thoth, the first month of the Egyptian calendar. Thoth was the god of wisdom and knowledge, and the Egyptians believed that this month was a time of renewal and rebirth. The celebration was called “Wep Renpet” which means “opening of the year” or “year-beginning”. The date of the Egyptian New Year varied throughout history and depended on the occurrence of the annual flooding of the Nile. The New Year’s celebration was a time for offering gratitude to the gods for the blessings of the past year and for asking for their help and protection in the coming year. People would visit the temples of the gods and exchange gifts with their loved ones. They would often wear new clothes and decorate their homes to mark the occasion. The priests of the temples would perform rituals to mark the beginning of the New Year, including purifying the temple with natron and lighting fires to honor the god Ra. The pharaoh would also perform a ritual in which he would strike the ground with a hoe to symbolize the renewal of life and fertility.

(Wepet-Renpet Festival): also known as the “Opening of the Year,” was a significant event in the Ancient Egyptian calendar and marked the beginning of the agricultural year. The date varied depending on the heliacal rising of the star Sirius, which usually occurred in mid-July. The festival was celebrated for several days, with the main focus being on the renewal of life, fertility, and rebirth. People would clean their homes, wear new clothes, and adorn their houses with greenery such as branches of palm, willow, and myrtle. They also exchanged gifts and feasted with their families and friends. Religious rituals were an essential part of the Wepet-Renpet festival, with offerings to the gods made at the temples. The priests would perform purification ceremonies, and the Pharaoh or high priest would symbolically plow the fields to ensure a successful harvest.

كوبري ايفل المعلق هو كوبري معلق في حديقة الحيوان بالجيزة. قد أمر الخديو إسماعيل بإنشائه و صممه المهندس گوستاڤ إيفل ونفذته شركته ايفل اي سيو Eiffel et Cie بين عامي (١٨٧٥ – ١٨٧٩) أي قبل إنشاء برج إيفل بأكثر من عشر سنوات وذلك عندما كانت الحديقة جزءاً من قصر الجيزة، وبالطبع قبل افتتاحها الرسمي عام ١٨٩١ فيما بعد. وقد اشتهر المهندس المعماري الفرنسي "ألكساندر گوستاڤ إيفل" بتصميم المنشآت المعدنية مثل الكباري و السكك الحديدية و أشهرها علي الإطلاق كان تمثال الحرية في نيويورك و برج إيفل بالعاصمة الفرنسية باريس الذي حمل عنه اسمه. و قد كان الكوبري جزءًا من حديقة إسماعيل باشا، و الذي قام ببناء الكوبري بها قبل أن يخصص جزءًا من قصره لتصبح حديقة حيوان، والتي خصص لها قرابة 50 فدانا من منطقة حدائق الأهرام، و قد أستجلب لها مجموعة من أندر النباتات والأشجار و الزهور من دول حول العالم. لم يعد الكوبري الذي وقف لأكثر من مائة عام و شاهدًا على جزء هام من تاريخ المحروسة، مفتوحًا للجمهور و ذلك حفاظًا على أثريته ليعيش قرنا آخر و ربما قرونا أخرى من الزمان… [1] يظهر عليه شعار الخديو إسماعيل المكون من حرفي IP و تزينه ثلاث نجوم و أسفله هلال و نجمة و يعلوه التاج الملكي . لم تستخدم شركة إيفل اللحام في ربط أجزاء الكوبري ببعضها، ولكن ربط الأجزاء ببعضها كان عن طريق تثبيت الحديد داخل أجزاء أخرى من مكونات الكوبري أي بطريقة التعشيق . يتميز الكوبري بأنه يكشف حديقة الحيوان من أعلى في منظر بانورامي قبل افتتاحها عام 1891 لتصبح أكبر حديقة للحيوانات في مصر والشرق الأوسط وأول وأقدم حدائق الحيوانات في أفريقيا والتي تمتد على أكثر من 80 فدانًا، وتواجه بوابتها الرئيسية شارع شارل ديجول في القاهرة، بوابتان ضخمتان في بداية ونهاية الكوبري تتعلق خلالها أسلاك قوية تحمل الكوبري، و تتخطى البوابات لتُثبت في الأرض. يرتكز الكوبري على جبلين كبيرين صمما خصيصاً له، ليكون الكوبري فى أعلى نقطة فى الحديقة. ويسمي أيضا بالكوبري الهزاز. بني الكوبري المعلق بواسطة المهندس الفرنسي الشهير "ايفل"، حيث كان الغرض منه ربط قصر الخديوي بقصر الحريم في منطقة القصور الخديوية بالجيزة. يتكون الكوبري من أرضية خشبية ومحمل من كل جانب بأسلاك من الصلب والكوبري يهتز عند السير عليه. أمر الخديوي إسماعيل بإنشاء كوبري معلق في حديقة الحيوان بالجيزة ليربط بين قصر الخديوي وقصر الحريم في منطقة القصور الخديوية بالجيزة. عهد الخديوي إلى المهندس جوستاف إيفل ببناء ذلك الكوبري وقد قامت بتنفيذه شركته ايفل اي سيو Eiffel et Cie بين عامي (١٨٧٥م – ١٨٧٩م)؛ أي قبل إنشاء برج إيفل بأكثر من عشر سنوات وذلك عندما كانت الحديقة جزءًا من سراي الجيزة، وبالطبع قبل افتتاحها الرسمي عام ١٨٩١م فيما بعد. يعد الكوبري المعلق هو أول منصة عرض مرتفعة لحديقة حيوان في العالم. ويظهر عليه شعار الخديوي إسماعيل المكون من حرفي آي بي IP (التي تمثل الحروف الأولى من إسماعيل باشا باللغة الإنجليزية). الكوبري المعلق الذي حمل نفس اسم أشهر معالم باريس "برج إيفل" شيد خلال الفترة من 1875 وحتى 1879، ما يعني أنه سبق تشييد برج إيفل بنحو 10 سنوات. وتم البدء في بناء الكوبري المعلق قبل الافتتاح الرسمي لحديقة الحيوان بالجيزة عام 1891، وأصبح وقتها أيقونة الحديقة ومنصة لمشاهدة جميع أركان الحديقة من أعلى ارتفاع بها. وعلى جوانب كوبري إيفل دُون شعار الخديوي إسماعيل الذي كان يحكم مصر وقتها، إضافة إلى نقش شكل التاج الملكي و3 نجوم وهلال. وأطلق على الكوبري اسم إيفل، نسبة إلى المهندس الفرنسي الذي شيده "ألكساندر جوستاف إيفل"، والذي أبدع في تصميم الكوبري بأسلاك حديدية مميزة بدون استخدام أي نوع من مواد اللحام. وحرص على ربط أجزاء الكوبري بطرق أخرى تمنحه تصميما جديد الشكل.
