This happened in late February. As far as I know this area has a decent number of Jews including Israeli Americans.
So a boy called a Jewish girl a "dirty Jew," threatened to beat her up, and then did proceed to push and punch her. He faced no consequences, was just told he had to change seats.
The head of the school made some mealymouthed statement about how the bullies just need to be educated because they don't understand the impact of their behavior. Cause it's really ambiguous to call someone a dirty Jew and then hit her. How could you possibly know how that would impact her and other Jews?
The short video of the Jewish students' walkout in protest showed a sweet camraderie between them. But it's born of necessity. You can't let these "small" things fester and I'm proud of these kids--and their parents--that they are not having it.

"I was really shocked because he said he would beat me up, but I didn't think that he was telling the truth until he got up and started to punch me," she said. "I was just sitting there in silence because I was shocked at what was happening because that never really happened to me. I was like in shock at what was going on. I couldn't process."
Eshed’s father joined the protest, claiming that the school had dismissed their claims and would not elaborate on how the student was punished.
"The school thinks that he has more rights than my daughter for protection," Eshed said. "He has rights to be educated, but my daughter [doesn’t] have the rights for her safety."

El Camino Real Charter High School students protested growing antisemitism on their campus in a walkout on Tuesday.
The walkout at the Woodland Hills school followed an alleged incident against 15-year-old Jewish student Danielle Eshed. According to Eshed, a student screamed antisemitic comments before attacking her a little over a week ago.
"He called me a dirty Jew, and then I said something out of defense," Danielle told KTLA-TV Channel 5. "He said he was going to beat me up, and I didn’t believe him until he got up, pushed me and started punching me repeatedly in the neck and the back."
He added, "I want from the school to protect my daughter, to keep her safe, and to give her a good education."
In a comment to the station, the school’s executive director David Hussey stated that the student had been disciplined, but suggested that some students simply "don’t know what they’re saying."
"One is addressing the issues. Maybe some students don’t know what they’re saying and what the impacts are, so it’s educating those students and then reassuring the other students that they are safe at this school," Hussey said.
Students also claimed that notes have been passed about Hitler and suggesting that the curriculum around World War II is offensive. Parents said that antisemitic incidents and bullying have increased since the surprise attack on Israel by Hamas forces on Oct. 7.
Fox News Digital reached out to El Camino Real Charter High School for a comment.

Things I notice in US mainstream media that shock me because they are weird culturally speaking
People don't touch each other. They may be suffering a lot and very rarely does someone offer a hug or even touch their shoulder. Even when there is physical contact, it's not as frequent as in my real Mediterranean life. Btw, this has changed somewhere in the 90s-2000s, while still never being as frequent as in Spain, there was more physical contact before that time.
The whole high school experience, I could really just make a post on this to get into detail. There is absolutely nothing similar to how high schools are in Spain, and probably in Europe in general or in anywhere not the US. And learning that the social hierarchies of high school are actually like that in real life doesn't make it better. I'd just rather think they are a plot device.
Teenagers with cars.
To be fair, I'm intrigued by the portrayal of teenagers in movies because even when it is well done, they're still alien. The fact that they're played by 30 year-olds doesn't help. And there are SO MANY MOVIES AND SERIES about teenagers. Why? What is it so important about that age? When I was a teenager it felt like a formality until you become an adult.
In work related things, people don't stop for lunch. It's always nothing or something on the go. Very rarely you see people cooking or stopping for lunch. I think I only saw someone bringing a tupperware to work in My Big Fat Greek Wedding (I think that's the name), but people, generally speaking, don't eat much in US media.
In hospital shows, often doctors are doing the nurses' jobs. It's probably because they are the protagonists but still weird. Also, interesting that any hospital show looks normal to anyone not in the US and then you learn about how healthcare works in the US and why do those shows even exist? Most of the people there couldn't afford it.
How easy it is to sue someone. The "I will sue you" threat and the "I will contact my lawyers" line are frequent and for all kinds of things.
They live in massive houses with a garden, the mother rarely works... Again, fantasy land. For years I really thought this was a "movie thing", like all the other things I mention that are so weird.
The university life and the dorm thing. As alien as the high school experience.
"Do the right thing". The sentence itself and the message that comes with it. Completely alien. Again, I take it as a plot device, I'm not sure I fully grasp the cultural implications of this in real life. What is "the right thing", though? And they rarely translate it well into Spanish so it is even more difficult to picture. "Haz lo correcto" doesn't mean anything if you think about it. "Haz lo que tengas que hacer", "Haz lo que debas" like the movie title, "Elige el camino bueno". I really don't know, but definitely not "Lo correcto".
Fathers never making it to spend time with the family. We even had an ad for Spanish cinema mocking this because it is so pervasive as a trope. Those fathers are usually married to the mothers I mentioned earlier.
The fortune cookies. Maybe some Chinese restaurants are starting to serve them now but I will always remember a Hong-Kong girl invited me to dinner to a local Chinese restaurant where she was friends with the Chinese lady owner. And she was all like "shall we get the fortune cookies, like in the movies?" and I said "sure!" and then the old lady said "I don't have that, it only happens in the movies".
How Christian everyone and everything is, while not being Catholic. It is a weird Christianity, that sometimes is warm and welcoming but it is still very weird because it permeates so many things all the time. And since I started watching movies in English, how often people uses euphemisms for so many things. In Spanish we shit on God on a daily basis, and in the US you get the shy "oh my gosh" all the time.
Related to the one before: How prudish everything is. Edulcorated too.
There is a type of comedy in the US that I can't understand and I can't describe. It's like slapstick if it were made by people who are afraid of doing comedy but still want to be the center of attention. I don't like it. I'd say Jim Carrey would be an example of this. The SNL show too.
DATING. Again, I could make a post just about this. So alien. So nothing like what I know. And, just like the high school experience, when people actually explain to you the cultural things that you are missing in the movies it is actually worse somehow. To give you an idea of the shock I have: in Spain we don't go on dates. We don't have "first dates" as such, generally speaking. Some people do, I don't know, if you met on tinder or something like that, but with people you know?? I go on dates *with my boyfriend of several years*, not with a random guy.

To know where you’re heading in life you, never forget where you come from.
I started this blog back in high school, “My black Sneakers” I had notebooks and then transition myself to digital blogging on google had a blogspot. I tried to continued but life just got harder after high school.
My real adventure of “my black sneakers” started when I first got hired by an employment agency, I was 14 years old. I worked along side my mother, during the summer break. I wore multiple hats, was a picker, sorting out fruits and vegetables. I worked in the manufacture clothing industry, sorting out clothing that I will never wear, they seemed ugly for my taste but they were overpriced for my budget at the time. Also, worked at many other places that you can’t imagine, the most fun was working inside a freezer sorting out fish. You can’t imagine the smell afterwards, people in the bus thought we were homeless women whom didn’t showered. But, the best part was the pay, a job that no one wanted to do.
The whole summer, i spend my time working, overtime hours, and i liked it so much that, i decided to leave high school. My mom was happy that I decided to leave school to help her with the bills. She never discouraged me to stop.
I believed that education wasn’t for me at the time, and that I didn’t need it, so I left 9th grade, to work at the warehouse industry. In my 10th grade year, I had to go back to school because, a letter was send home, that my mom was going to go to jail if I didn’t return to school, so, she then said you have to go back. I did. I wasn’t really doing great, I couldn’t find myself sitting in a classroom while the teacher was on her phone texting someone, i felt it was a waste of my time.
I was approached by a counselor whom said, I wasn’t going to be able to finish High School because, I was out for almost a year. I decided to take his advice, and place myself on a continuation school where, I was going to be able to catch up. I didn’t tell my mother, she found out after, I took myself out of school. Back in my day, the schools weren’t that strict or had the time to verify for accurate information. Today, you can’t even take out your own kid from school with out asking for an ID.
I join a new school Cesar Chavez, I really didn’t want to go there but, I needed a high school diploma to go get a job, it was a new requirement. In my time at that school, I met a really nice Women, her name is/was Boadi, she was a Business Computer Science instructor at CSUDH.
At my new school, 3% of the student didn’t have children the rest had 1 or more. I started to see their struggles, and I heard their stories of how they ended up there. I took, Ms Boadi class because I was curious about Computers. Our project was to create a website for CSUDH. Many joined but only a about 5 girls remained in the class.
To our surprise in the end we all got a scholarship, and a book from Book from Maya Angelo that particular book which I still have in my possession today. Ms Boadi said she saw something in me she didn’t see in the other girls, besides the other girls where complaining about the scholarship, they thought it was going to be more. I was happy to get $1,000. I spend my money getting myself contact lenses, and few clothes, and I gave the rest my mom money.
Ms Boadi asked in what I spend my money, and I told her the above. I managed to Graduate in the Summer of 2002, and it was great because, I managed to get into El Camino College by the fall of 2002. During the Summer, I got another job, at CSUDH with computer programming, and a Scholarship with all expenses paid to New Mexico, and other Scholarships like a Computer etc, so, when I started College I’ll be ready. She was a really good friend, and mentor. I do miss her and always remember her.
I didn’t major in Computer Science but I went into Business Administration. I graduated in June 2009.

**Beul No High - Capítulo 5: Naui Tto Daleun Jaa (Mi Otro Yo)**

Tiffany Haddish Reunites with Teacher Who Taught Her to Read
Tumblr media
Tiffany Haddish is reuniting with a teacher who had a huge influence on her.  On the Tuesday, May 7 episode of The View — for Teacher Appreciation Day — the Girls Trip star, 44, thanked the person who taught her how to read in high school: drama teacher Mrs. Grieb. In 9th grade at Los Angeles’ El Camino Real High School, Haddish recalled, Grieb “figured out that I couldn’t read. I was very good at hiding and masking and pretending and she figured out that I couldn’t do it very well.” The teacher “would have me come to her class at lunch, in that 15 minute break, and she would give me magazines and newspapers and she would sit with me to read. Basically by the end of the semester I was reading!” “It sounds like a reunion’s a little overdue,” quipped host Sara Haines, before surprising an emotional Haddish by announcing that Grieb was joining them on the show.  (Left-right:) Mrs. Grieb and Tiffany Haddish on 'The View' May 7. ABC Haddish, who said that she’d kept in touch with her teacher via social media and telephone, had not seen her in person in 25 years. “Thank you so much for being patient with me,” the Afterparty star tearfully said when asked what she wanted to tell Grieb. “Thank you so much for always encouraging me, and taking time with me and listening to me.”  Referencing her difficult childhood, Haddish added while wiping away tears, “During that time I was really struggling a lot and you were the most consistent, constant thing in my world next to my grandma. I’m so grateful for you, I’m so glad I met you. Thank you so much for being kind.” Alyssa Farah Griffin then presented Grieb a limited-edition copy of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a play that won Haddish a high school drama competition. “Thank you,” responded Grieb. “It’s a great play, and she was great in it.”  “I still remember it. Want me to do it 1715114712?” joked Haddish.  Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. (Left-right:) Mrs. Grieb and Tiffany Haddish on 'The View' May 7. ABC “Great teachers,” said Whoopi Goldberg, “you never know your effect on a student. If you’re a teacher sitting out there, thank you for everything you do.”  In Haddish’s new memoir, I Curse You with Joy (out May 7 from Diversion Books), the actress details the ups and downs of her career and personal life, including her mother’s struggles with mental illness, which led Haddish to become her family’s caretaker before ending up in the foster care system. “I wanted this book to be about something,” Haddish told PEOPLE of the follow-up to her 2017 New York Times bestseller The Last Black Unicorn. “I felt like I needed to live a little more life and get a better understanding of where I am now.” Among Haddish’s upcoming screen projects is Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die. WF UPDATE: DAY #9 (7/9/23).
Here’s what GC1 said when we arrived at our new hotel today: “That was way too easy.”
I agree with him. It was an easy day. It should only count as half a day.
We hit the trail at 7:20 a.m. We were done by Noon.
Once again, at the request of GC1, we walked at a quicker pace. We covered 11.5 miles.
The first 2.5 miles were mostly uphill on a dirt path through woodlands. When it flattened out, for the next 7 miles or so, we were back in farmlands. We saw cows and corn. GC1 had another close encounter with some cows that needed to cross the trail to get from their barn to the pasture.
For the last 2 miles we were on city streets. Sarria, our home for the night, is a bigger city. The entry to Sarria has a very urban feel.
All in all, we passed through six very small towns. There really wasn’t anyplace to stop. We stopped once at a makeshift cafe that some folks had set up on their front lawn. (Nick and Sally from the UK were there.) We stopped a second time to sit on a rock and have a snack from our “emergency food” bag. Except for those quick stops, we didn’t waste any time getting to Sarria.
This afternoon, while GC1 had his “chill time” to read, I took a quick walk through the historic section of Sarria. It’s nicer than I remember. It has a real “Pilgrim” vibe.
Sarria is the starting point for approximately 50% of the Pilgrims who make it to Santiago. Why? Remember that El Camino is associated with the Catholic Church, and the Catholic Church is famous for its rules. One of the rules requires that a Pilgrim walk at least 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) on El Camino to receive an official certificate of completion. Sarria is 117.4 km from Santiago. If a Pilgrim starts in Sarria, they qualify for an official certificate of completion. If a Pilgrim starts in Portomarin, the next biggish city down the line (94.7 km from Santiago), they don’t qualify for an official completion certificate. The officials in Santiago strictly adhere to the 100 km rule. Pilgrims are required to carry a “Pilgrim Passport” and have it stamped at churches, hotels, or cafes during their journey. If a Pilgrim can’t prove that they’ve walked at least 100 km, they’re out of luck. That’s why Sarria is such a key location along El Camino.
Today on the trail, I was telling GC1 about the 100 km rule and the importance of Sarria. His immediate reaction was: “That’s cheating! Everybody should be required to start in Leon.” I told him to write a letter to the Pope. Personally, I think the 100 km rule is OK. There’s an old saying on The Way: “Everyone walks their own Camino.” I’m not going to judge anybody.
It’s Sunday. I went to 7:00 p.m. Mass. There are two churches in town. This Mass was in the small church. There are ten rows on each side of the center aisle. It feels like a solemn little chapel. At 6:55 p.m., there were only eight people in the seats. I was looking forward to an intimate Mass. Then, at the last minute, about 75 high school kids from Spain came running in with two teachers. Their school is hosting a walk from Sarria to Santiago. They start tomorrow. I guess I’ll see them out there. It was good to see a big group of kids at Mass. I didn’t mind the noise.
It’s time for me to put GC1 to bed. We’re going to move out early tomorrow. We’ll see you out there.

The neighborhood is home to world-class athletes in the areas of baseball, football, track and bowling. Several products of the community have even been on the Olympic team in the past. This year will be no different with two members of the community competing for Team USA in Rio de Janeiro.
One of the most popular things to do in Woodland Hills is visit the Shoup Park Summit. The facility is located near the community center and features a swimming pool, playgrounds, basketball courts and soccer fields. It is a great place for families and kids of all ages to spend the day.
Residents of the area are very active in their community and take pride in maintaining the city. The local government has a good working relationship with the neighbors and is committed to keeping the city safe and beautiful. Residents are also involved in the neighborhood councils that work with the city on a variety of issues.
At a recent meeting, the West Hills Neighborhood Council, along with the Canoga Park and Woodland Hills-Warner Center Neighborhood Councils, presented a Measure S Town Hall at El Camino Real Charter High School. Matt Szabo, Mayor Eric Garcetti's chief of staff, joined the discussion and answered questions from the community.
There are a lot of things to do in the area of Woodland Hills, but you may need some help getting there. Luckily, there are a few good moving companies in the area that can help. One of these is ABC Moving Systems, which has been in business for over 30 years and can provide you with the service you need. The company has moved thousands of families and individuals over the years, so you can trust them to get the job done right.

Who I am
As an artist I seek to speak to the similarities of those around me, especially those of my generation. Those of us who graduated from high school in 2017 and less than 2 years later were faced with a global pandemic look at the world just a bit differently.  My family always teases me that I was singing in the crib and my musical timing was a real thing even as a toddler. I got my nick name Stoney from my great grandmother because I would bang on her pots and pans. I attended a small high school in an even smaller city where I was fortunate enough to discover that music would be what I wanted to get involved in. I will never forget the day that Casey Veggies visited my high school and shared his music with my fellow classmates. I will also never forget the day that I saw Tyler the Creator at my middle school, it is because of him and seeing someone who looks like me that I decided that I wanted to express myself using my voice through music. I will also never forget the choir courses afterschool. The college level classes that I was able to take in high school through El Camino Community College including piano and photography solidified my path. I then attended the 1500 Sound Academy and was able to learn firsthand production and engineering techniques from Grammy Award winning songwriters, musician and artists Larrance “Rance” Dopson (“Boo’d Up”) and James Fauntleroy, (“On the Run” derived from “Take Me”).  Every week we had a celebrity guest artist who delved into why and how they created a certain piece of music and what inspires them to keep moving forward, growing, changing and evolving as an artist. I have collaborated on songs with many of my fellow 1500 alumni family. But my ultimate goal is to complete my own EP and have it available for listeners on all streaming platforms. As of now I have released 3 of my 6 songs that will form my EP. My goal is to perform at local community colleges and universities to establish a fan base of listeners who will grow with me as I transform into the artist that I hope to become.  I am currently at Cerritos College pursuing a degree in Commercial Music Production and I hope to transfer to Cal State University Dominguez Hills University and earn a Music degree. I am influenced by so many artists that have a unique sound, tone and style like Ant Clemmons, the Dream, Teddy Walton, Bryson Tiller, Vory and classic artists like Stevie Wonder, Charlie Wilson, Babyface and Teddy Riley. I hope that my music will continue to grow, evolve and become something that everyone can find a commonality to relate to and connect with. I hope that my education, training and growth are emphasized in each chord, each note and each progression and that like me they constantly grow on you and hopefully, you can’t get the sound off of your mind.
