2021 Nebelhorn Trophy Preview - Singles
Please note that I am not mentioning skaters who are competing, but not competing for Olympics spots. There are skaters factoring into the competition but not the remaining Olympic spots!
As a reminder, there are 7 spots in Men and 6 in Womens.
Men
The most certain qualifiers in Men’s are the US (Vincent Zhou, seeking redemption for being the reason the US has to be here in the first place), Canada (Roman Sadovsky), and Russia (Mark Kondratiuk, in only his third senior international competition ever, and first in two years). All three are confirming spots earned at last season’s Worlds.
Very likely qualifiers are France (three-time National Silver Medalist Adam Siao Him Fa) and Azerbaijan (Vladimir Litvinsev).
That leaves two more spots for... several countries. Countries to watch out for are Germany (Paul Fentz - there’s entries, but Paul is the one who is competing for Olympic qualification), Great Britain (Peter James Hallam), Australia (Brendan Kerry), Austria (Maurizio Zandron), Armenia (Slavik Hayrapetyan), South Korea (Siheyong Lee, also confirming a spot earned at last season’s Worlds).
Outliers who might also factor in are Monoco (David Lewton Brain), Turkey (Basar Oktar - both Turkish skaters are competing, but he’s the one competing for the qualification), and the Philippines (Edrien Pual Celestino). It may personal best performances, but it is not out of the question.
Ladies
The most certain qualifiers here are the US (Alysa Liu, confirming third spot earned at Worlds), Poland (Ekaterina Kurakova), and Switzerland (Alexia Paganini). That leaves three spots for several countries.
Those likely countries are Austria (Sohpia Schaller, confirming second spot earned at Worlds), Italy (Lara Naki Gutmann), France (Lea Serna), and Cyprus (Emilia Zingas), and Belarus (Viktoriia Safanova).
Countries that could factor in (but have skaters competing that are less consistent or haven’t been seen in a while), but shouldn’t be completely counted out are: Australia (Kailani Craine), Slovakia (Nicole Rajicova, who hasn’t competed since the 2019 Worlds), Hungary (Julia Lang, who was injured this summer).
Countries that are outliers, but shouldn’t be completely counted out are: Romania (Julia Sauter) and Slovenia (Dasa Grm).
Pairs, Ice Dance, and Team discussion coming!

IN CLAUSURA – IL SEGRETARIO RINCHIUDE IL PARTITO NELL’ABBAZIA DI CONTIGLIANO, NEL REATINO, E AL “FATTO”: “SE SALVINI PERDE IL 26 GENNAIO E INIZIA LA FRANA…”
