I have so much to say about ajax and rayko after the stuff today—
but first off: [spoiler warning for eod lore bits on 9/7]
i fucking love the idea that Icarixis is just sitting in the world port watching all of it happen, and when rayko goes through the rift Icarixis just like- *pauses the sitcom they’ve been watching*
and just pulls rayko into the worldport like “BRO WHAT WAS ALL THAT ABOUT?? YOU LEAVING YOUR BROTHER?? DA FUCK??” 🤨
and then by the end of it is like “fine okay yeah go back to your partners, that does still fix the problem of you being here…” 🙄
and i love that for them

during the mutiny when jack is insulting all of them like the sassy bitch he is he points out all of their flaws and mistakes, points out tosh’s social isolation and loneliness, owen’s suicidality, gwen’s hipocrisy,
but when he gets to ianto, he does bring up the lisa thing, but his subsequent point isn’t that it makes ianto sad or pathetic or morally depraved, but that “your three comrades here pumped bullets into her, remember?”
i have two ways of looking at this
the more pleasant interpretation is that he’s telling ianto he’s too good to make such a stupid decision, that he’s better than his colleagues
the less pleasant is that he’s hitting ianto exactly where he knows it’ll hurt. he knows ianto hates owen, the one leading this crusade. he knows he feels ignored and under appreciated by his teammates. he knows that if ianto has one insecurity, it’s his relationship with the team, and the last beacon (BF audio) proves that he’s right.
but it’s also really insulting to ianto, because it insinuates jack believes that ianto has become so infatuated with him that he forgot jack was the one that gave them the order to fire on lisa. that he forgot that jack was standing with them while they did it. that he forgot jack tried to force ianto to kill her himself.

Thinking about how “useless” seems to be Ajax’s version of “failure”
How Rondael keeps on calling them and their machines useless as a way to get under Ajax’s skin,
How Centross would call Icarus a failure in corruption to get under their skin
How Ajax can’t be useless, he can’t because if they’re useless what’s the point in keeping them on the team, what the point in keeping them alive
How Icarus can’t be a failure, they can’t because if they’re a failure then what is the point in loving or caring about them if everything they do is wrong
