Produksi Essential Phone Dihentikan, Perusahaan Bapak Android Siapkan Produk Baru

Liputanviral - Essential Products (Essential) menghentikan produksi smartphonepertamanya, Essential Phone atau PH-1 yang dirilis pada 2017. Langkah ini dilakukan karena perusahaan yang didirikan oleh pencipta Android, Andy Rubin, tersebut tengah fokus pada produk baru. Dilansir GSM Arena, Rabu (2/1/2019), penghentian produksi ini disampaikan oleh juru bicara Essential. Juru bicara itu juga mengatakan, Essential masih akan memberikan update softwaredan layanan lain yang dibutuhkan pengguan Essential Phone. "Kami telah menjual semua Essential Phone di essential.com dan tidak akan menambah inventaris baru. Kami sedang bekerja keras mengerjakan produk mobile selanjutnya, serta akan terus menjual berbagai aksesoris dan memberikan update software dan dukungan konsumen untuk komunitas yang ada sekarang," jelas juru bicara tersebut. Sejauh ini, pihak Essentialbelum memberikan bocoran tentang produk baru itu. Penggunaan kata "produk mobile selanjutnya" dinilai mengindikasikan yang sedang disiapkan bukan sebuah ponsel. Kendati demikian, belum bisa dipastikan jenis produk yang disiapkan. Namun, jika bukan ponsel, maka kemungkinan konsumen tidak akan melihat PH-2 hadir di pasar pada tahun ini. Terlepas dari Essential, perusahaan riset Counterpoint Research pada awal Desember 2018 merilis data industri smartphone global periode kuartal III (Q3). Berdasarkan data tersebut, Samsung, Huawei, dan Apple, menguasai posisi tiga besar pasar smartphone. Counterpoint pun juga merilis rincian pangsa pasar para vendor smartphone di berbagai wilayah, termasuk Asia, Amerika Utara, dan Eropa. Untuk wilayah Asia, Oppo menguasai pangsa pasar sebesar 16 persen. Posisi lima besar lainnya ditempati oleh Huawei, Vivo, Xiaomi, dan Samsung. Huawei memiliki 15 persen, Vivo 15 persen, Xiaomi 14 persen, dan Samsung 10 persen pangsa pasar. Di wilayah Amerika Utara, Apple memimpin dengan 39 persen pangsa pasar.
