I'm re-writing Exalon's Inspections app from Xamarin to Flutter/Dart, which I have never touched before. I'm relying heavily on ChatGPT. This became necessary because Microsoft has effectively closed Xamarin down. Xamarin will no longer be supported and will not be compatible with new Android versions. What a letdown?! Thousands of programmers are scrambling to rewrite their code because Android 13 came out in 2022, and Xamarin doesn't support it. Android 14 came out in October 2023. What are we supposed to do? Shows that you can't rely on any programming language or platform. Not even from Microsoft. Last year, Google was pushing Kotlin. Now they are saying forget Kotlin, use flutter. I think for mobile app development, you need to use an open-source programming language that has a lot of community support. That also goes for operating systems, databases, etc. Otherwise, you are vulnerable to the whims of large corporations.
