Making a Difference Week 3

Truth be told, engaging myself in investing stocks haven't cross my mind yet, however, it is also not impossible for it to occur. Investing in stocks need a thorough evaluation of the risks, having a financial roadmap, an emergency fund and many more, and as a student, I still have a long way to learn before engaging myself in stocks or any form of investment, because rash decisions can lead to irreversible damage to me and my family. I consider myself as someone novice in this field as well, therefore, I don't really know what to tell them, I guess, to thoroughly analyze the risks their about to take in investing their money.

If I were given a chance, I want the people in my community to engage themselves in learning more about investments in stocks or bonds for them to have a better understanding on how they can manage their finances and how they can expand their assets. Honestly, the people in my community have little knowledge about finance and that includes me as well before enrolling myself in coursera. I hope they would also be able to gain the knowledge that I learned in this course.

Money flow: What markets are at play in your life? Stock index futures markets are at play in my work life. How might this compare to the markets that are at play in the lives of the individuals whose possession(s) were captured in the photos shown in the article? Some of those individuals do not have robust and fast internet connections, so doing what I do to trade stock index futures would be very hard for them to reliably accomplish for technological reasons of limited access.

Repercussions: Thinking ahead to content that will be expanded upon in Week 3, can you identify any repercussions of the financial decisions that allowed you to purchase your most valuable thing? Saving money and working at jobs that pay enough to afford expensive computers is a way to use money to earn more money.

Making a difference in week 2

Negative interest rate is a desperate measure to strengthen or boost the economy as well as to prevent the country from sliding into deflation where prices fall which can cause an economic contraction that is undoubtedly a bad thing for the country and its citizens. Which is why there are investors willing to invest even in negative bonds, because it can be their salvation in the long run. It is a safe haven investment. In times of economic uncertainty, investors choose the outcome where they'll lose less than the possibility of a double-digit percentage loss in equity markets.

I do feel the change in how I perceive finances now, it is also true that I gained knowledge in the course that I am currently taking in coursera, however, I feel like the understanding that I currently have still is not enough which is why I still think I have a long way to go before I can confidently engage in a conversation regarding financial markets. Though, if I were to be put in an unprecedented event where discussing financial market is unavoidable, I believe, I am able to catch up with the discussion. Currently, I have not yet begun to asses or think of the my future engagement in financial market, but I do anticipate for it in the near future.
