I have thoughts abt Beanix but they are NOT coherent ooooargh!!!! HIM!!!!!!!
#yea a lot of them r very nicely summarized in ‘he is trying to teach Apollo a lesson’ and ‘if the whole world thinks he forged evidence#then why not ACTUALLY do it. the fuck is it gonna cost him?’#but like. mmmgh. mmmrmph!!!#grabbing him and shaking him by the shoulders so hard#bc Miles was under the SAME scrutiny and yea he never got disbarred over it but there were rumors and then active accusations and the very#real and serious threat OF being disbarred. it never came to pass but it WAS there#and like. it was phoenix’s arguable naïveté and his ‘blind’ faith in Miles which halted that shit in its tracks#if Phoenix had this same sort of ‘being naive will cost you everything’ attitude. almost pessimistic. at that time? things would’ve been#FUCKED. and like ‘but Phoenix always believes in Miles!!!’ Because He Trusts People Wholeheartedly At That Current Stage of His Life#and like two sides same coin or whatever but how much of him not DIRECTLY (visibly) going to Miles for help is like#class trial. everyone thinks he stole the money so he might as well have. and he goes to apologize. except Miles declares that it’s not#fair. there’s no proof so Phoenix shouldn’t have to apologize if he didn’t do it#but now. he did it. maybe not in THAT trial. but he gave forged evidence to Apollo. this time there’s proof. this time he did it.#for real. no takebacks. and this is the Prosecutor Edgeworth in endless pursuit of the dirty bitter truth. and it has to be a pretty heavy#weight to think of what this truth would mean to Miles in particular. considering their history (in Phoenix’s mind anyways)#I think miles would understand. not agree with it but understand. a forgivable transgression (just not forgivable to the part of Phoenix#that is still himself. that isn’t playing a game of deception and recognizes that his own genuine faith saved multiple lives.)#ARGH. There’s more. microwaving him like a fucking burrito there’s SO MUCH MORE!!!!

under eye bags, scotch on the rocks, tried their best once and it put them off from ever trying again, gruff exterior, falling off the pedastal, quietly intimidating, heart of gold, a little bit sad, too much coffee, fuck decorum, always tired, unpopular but right, strategic planning, a bruised ego, always has a plan b and a plan z, sarcasm as a defense mechanism, calculated risks, losing faith, passionate outbursts
DEFINING MOMENTS
Eleven years old and he knows the hardest part about going to Hogwarts is leaving his mom and sister behind. Having a Squib for a sister was never a disappointment to him, but he knew it hurt her that he was going off to Hogwarts without her. She had spoken of going since they were children and finding out that she couldn’t broke her heart. Alastor wrote her letters every week and told her all about the new experiences he was gaining - per her request. All the new things he was experiencing, all the new friends he was making, Alastor couldn’t help but wish that his sister would get to experience it. However, he knew that his Mum was going to send her to a boarding school of her choice, and that the education she received would rival his own. It made it easier to enjoy himself and the new parts of his life he was experiencing.
Sixteen and Alastor has learned that the world is crueler than he ever thought it could be. There’s a faction of people that genuinely believe that blood purity matters, and that they should have more privileges than others. It’s a hard pill to swallow, especially when he realizes that his sister is at the top of the list of people they’d love to see eradicated. Alastor knows that people are opposed to this, but so far there is no official force fighting back. He can’t fathom sitting back and allowing this to continue. However, he knows the Shacklebolt siblings, at least two of them, are ready to fight back and he is positive that they aren’t the only ones. As he finishes out his schooling, he plans to be an Auror, and eventually run the department.
After graduation, Alastor really understands what it means to be an adult. He works hard on building up his career, but he has more things to do than just that. At twenty years old, Alastor starts a new organization, with Kingsley at his side. The Order is run to function in two separate settings that come together; the political arena and the battlefield. While he trusts Kingsley to handle the political decorum that he lacks, he takes over the battle strategy aspects. He can see a proper war brewing a mile off, and wants to make sure the Death Eater’s don’t have a clear shot at taking over. As the organization grows, The Order of the Phoenix starts gaining more and more attention. Some believe they will be the saving grace, while others believe they will be the Wizarding World’s downfall. Alastor wholeheartedly believes it’s the first.
Twenty six and his world is left in shambles. As the leader he expected there to be a target on his back, but he didn’t anticipate them going after his family; a grave oversight on his part. When he gets the distress patronus from his mother, he goes to her home immediately. What he doesn’t expect to see is the massacre left behind. Finding the body of the woman that gave everything to raise himself and his sister on the floor was enough to send him into a spiral. However, seeing Avery, the sister he had fought so hard to protect, fought so hard to give a better life, dead, ruined him. He steps down from the Order because he can’t lead a rebellion with a despondent attitude. The person he was fighting for is gone, and Alastor doesn’t know how to move on. When Lily Evans steps up, he knows The Order of the Phoenix is in good hands. Six months later and he’s still on sabbatical from work, but he thinks he’s been sulking long enough. He misses Avery and his mother every day, but he knows they would never want him to stop living his life the way he has. Still, he’s stuck between wanting to move forward, and not knowing how.

THE ONES THAT MATTER
ALEXANDER: At one point in his life, he and Alexander had been good friends. They were both driven, hard working, and wanted nothing more than to succeed in life. However, Alexander didn’t want any part in the war, and while Alastor understood it, distance grew between them. When his family was murdered, Alexander wasn’t there. He hadn’t so much as acknowledged him or his loss, and for that, Alastor could never forgive him.
SURI: All of the Shacklebolt children were like family to him, especially after Kingsley had become their sole guardian. However, Suri had always been the one to push him a little harder. She was fierce, fiery, and full of passion that never seemed to dampen. It was Suri that recently called him out and gave him a harsh reality check. His family wouldn’t want him to live this way, and while his pity party had been justified, it was growing tiresome. Suri was the one that told him he could sit and sulk, or he could ball up and do something about it.
KINGSLEY: They had planned to lead the Order into victory together; side by side. However, when Kingsley graduated Hogwarts, his priorities had changed. The primary caretaker of three school aged kids, he couldn’t be out recklessly saving the world. He helped plan missions, helped create the ideals and goals of the Order, but stayed out of the light. Alastor had understood - they were best friends after all. However, when Alastor lost his family, Kingsley knew he was going to step down before he even told him. Just as Alastor had been there for him, Kingsley returned the favor, and in the process, he stepped up further to help stop the Order from failing in his absence.
BELLATRIX: At one point, his whole world had revolved around bringing down Bellatrix. She was the person behind the Death Eaters and he wanted to see everything she’d worked for crash and burn around her. However, she had gotten to him first. Having his family killed, or killing them herself, had caused him to lose the fight he had been so passionate about. She had won, and he had let her. Time gives perspective though, and Alastor isn’t entirely sure he’s willing to let her have the last say.
