I'm a bit confused about the Far Cry series and the trend of villains not actually dying or hinted to be alive. In Far Cry 5 Casey Fixman mentions the Jackal, In Far Cry 6 there's a magazine of Pagan Min, A note from the SEEDS (plural?!) sent flowers and seeds to Yara, and proof that Vaas lived. I'm confused whether the events of each previous game occurred in this timeline.
I know… Far Cry 6 is confusing because it “killed” the timeline.
I think that, after the world canonically ended in Far Cry 5, the devs realized it would now technically be impossible to make more Far Cry games set in the present day in the same universe, so they decided that there were only “loose connections between the games” because “each Far Cry has its own stories and world”, to quote what the narrative director said on Reddit.
There were clearly more than “loose connections” before, though, because we know Hurk and Willis went to the Rook Islands and Kyrat, for example, and met Jason and Ajay... But, anyway, that’s the explanation they came up with to circumvent the Collapse: there isn’t just one Far Cry world and timeline, there are many, and the apocalypse never happened in the world of Far Cry 6.
But I think that would have worked better if they hadn’t included so many Easter eggs and references to previous games in Far Cry 6… In doing so, because they didn’t care about having one consistent timeline anymore, they ended up “retconning” things, and fans are understandably confused.
So, yes, Vaas is alive and talks to Juan in Far Cry 6’s post-credits scene, but he still canonically died in Far Cry 3 (it’s been confirmed several times). As for the Seeds, they seem fine in Far Cry 6, and the world hasn’t ended in that game, but the Collapse and the deaths of the Heralds still canonically happened in Far Cry 5.
Basically, Far Cry 6 has its own timeline, so you can ignore what it says about the previous games’ events and characters; the devs just referenced whatever they liked and nothing really means anything. I assume they did that for the sake of fan service and thought it would be fun, but while I appreciate the sentiment (Easter eggs are fun and not that serious), as a fan of lore and continuity, that sometimes feels a bit more like “fan disservice” to me 🥲

Look, I’m not saying Clara would have for sure lived had Juan not tried to shoot Diego but by being so fucking trigger happy he definitely sealed her fate.
And then trying to deflect by accusing Dani of being addicted to the chaos.
I really don’t like him, but good pos character writing by ubi I guess.

This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever experienced in a video game. Excellent comic timing though.

I can't stop thinking about Collapse and the memory of when Joseph found Jacob agter the war. The pain in Jacob's voice when Joseph finds him in the homeless shelter. His absolute sheer panic --
"Who are you? Get the fuck away from me!"
And then realizing it's Joseph, who is just so relieved to find his brother after all these years. And Jacob just breaks.
"I can't. I've done two tours and come back and no one wants me. The whole world wants to pretend the world isn't happening and I..."
And Joseph, empathetic Joseph, batshit insane Joseph, just wants to help Jacob. End his suffering, work through his pain. And what does he do?
He gives Jacob a new war to wage, just so his brother has something to keep living for.

i rewatched the episodes again, and izzy's whole “redemption arc” should have been left out honestly. i know the writing is suffering because we have fewer episodes this season, but the writers chose to spend a lot of that very limited time focusing on izzy for some reason, and yet his character is completely inconsistent.
it doesn't matter that the crew accepts and supports him, it still doesn't make sense for him to suddenly be singing songs and wearing makeup, when he was threatening to kill ed for acting soft and not wanting to be a pirate in 1x10. this 180 turn was not set up in any way and they have not justified it. season one izzy was not secretly dreaming of love, acceptance and community lmao, like WHERE are these motivations coming from??
i really thought this episode batch was where we were gonna see him own up to his part in the whole kraken ordeal, cause his whole arc DOESN'T WORK without that. but all we got was ed apologizing AGAIN, making izzy out to be the victim, when we all know he was creaming his pants from eating toes in season one.
THIS is what feels like fan service to me. in the worst way. this feels like fanon actually.
it feels like since izzy was such a popular character in season one, they thought they had to redeem him so that they could keep him around and make his stans happy, cause it would not make sense to keep season one izzy around for this long.
there are some other issues with the writing this season, that i blame more just on the cut down to 8 episodes, but this whole izzy thing is on the writers cause they chose to put so much focus on him. if they didn't have the time to write a proper redemption arc for him, the whole show would've been better served by spending that time on the other characters; like jim and olu, who've been completely sidelined this season.

woke up to thoughts at 100% speed today sorry FC5 ending SPOILERS [incase that's important to someone]
cannot stop thought cycling about how you wake in dutch's bunker at the very start and he says "you know what that means?" after you hear the radio call
-you're tied to the exact same post/spot as you are in the final scene when joseph says "-you know what that means?" after you come to and dutch is dead.
the full circle FLOORED me the first time I actually put it together.
I'm sure I could've worded this significantly better but I just had to get it out.
the exact same spot, and the same line. one worded in warning as the reaping began, and the other worded in threat and promise.

If there is 1 thing I will never Forgive the Far Cry series for, it’s how Bad they treat Most of their Kid Characters, Namely Bhadra and Diego they got done very Dirty
Bhadra and Diego, innocent victims of the revolution(s) :’(
I understand why Antón did what he did, but I’m still not over what happened… That ending was so brutal.
As for Bhadra, I still secretly hope that, if Amita ended up leading the Golden Path, she’s fine and was just put on a plane to another country so no one can find her and force her to become Tarun Matara (as well as Sabal’s wife) anymore... It’s probably not what happened but it’s a comforting thought.
By the way, in my opinion, Amita’s post-credits scene felt weird. I don’t know, I think Sabal was in character, that what he did was predictable and made sense, but Amita? She certainly wasn’t perfect, either, but she turned tyrannical so quickly. Something in her attitude in that last scene makes me wonder if it could just be a facade, though, if she’s forcing herself to be mean, acting tough to make sure people fear her and respect her authority (partly because she’s a woman). Maybe I’m just imagining things because I thought she was out of character, but it’s hard for me to believe she killed the girl she seemed to genuinely care about and want to protect.

Cannot believe I have four separate documents on Dani/Clara yet the one I’m leaning hardest into is the one where she saves Clara and then has to kill her anyways.
