Time for a scavenger hunt!

I'll start with a prompt; you reply to this with a link to a pattern from the FOYAL database that matches it, and a new prompt for the next person to reply to.

Links should be to either the database or the designer's website. Try to not repeat patterns, & to let at least 2 other people reply before you play again.

We'll draw winners December 11 at noon Pacific time.

Find me a pattern with an example photo that uses your favorite color of yarn.

Welcome to November, with freezing nights and. . . . 22 C days? Yep. Weather is drunk. Usually, I'd be switching over to my winter coat and knitted woolies right now, but instead, I'm here in a tank top, deprived of the chance to wear my knitwear! It's a travesty!

So, while I may have planned the Celtic Hood pattern for the November KAL, now I'm sitting here, hoping it gets cold enough later I can actually -wear- said hood.

. . . . Anyway, yes, the Celtic Hood is the November Featured Pattern and Knit-Along.  Don't worry, if you don't have the pattern, it's 50% off through the month of November during the Knit-Along! (and yes, you can absolutely double dip with the @fastenoffyal, provided you can knit your hood quickly enough, as they start on November 22nd!)

Other cool stuff to know:

The cable stitch pattern is both charted and written.

The pattern has a large-print version for folks who need it (this version also works with screen-reading tech)

It comes in two sizes, adult small and large, with a depth of 9.75 (10.75) inches, 25(27.5) cm and a height of 12(14) inches, 30.5 (35.5) cm, not counting the ribbing.

It uses 11100 to 1500 yards (1006 to 1372 meters) of worsted or aran yarn (the cables eat a lot of yarn!)

The pattern description is non-gendered (because hoods do not have a gender, no clothing is gendered in English - and remember, linguistic gender is not the same thing as the social constructs of gender!)

Sample was knit in Cascade 220 Superwash Wool, in "Rose" but, any worsted-weight wool or wool blend should substitute quite well. Worsted/Aran weight acrylic yarn would also substitute nicely, if desired. Top is the not yet photogenic CamdenCap a design by Woolly Wormhead which is an adventure to create, especially the brim. I love how it's turning out so far

Bottom is Mosaic Staircase Scarf by Aklori Designs. It's TunisianCrochet and due to my yarn choice slow going but turning out lovely

Final Stories: SE Light is a rare foray into stranded knitting using AlterKnits. Tangiers resulted from me noodling around to create an arabesque shape (with cool embellishments). Taos is a project I love to knit. We are officially back from Hawaii! Although our internet is out so I'm trying not to freak out about that as a small business owner on the cusp of the busiest season of the year! Not only surprisingly easy and fast to knit up, no carrying the yarn on the WS, but they use up left-overs from other sock projects. I can't throw away left-over sock yarn and this is a great way to use up these small balls I collect in a plastic bin. "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future"

December 3 is the International Day for Persons with Disabilities. This day promotes an understanding of disability issues, and mobilizes support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of people with disabilities. We're big into this kind of support - it's one of the principles (perhaps the most crucial principle!) upon which our event was founded. Accessibility - true accessibility - is so much more than wheelchair ramps and alt text on webpage images. We encourage everybody to learn more. To that end, we're highlighting some terrific relevant resources, including resources related to the fibre arts, and some links to help you search for makers with disabilities.
