Candy bar - Fuegoleon genuinely doesn’t know why the little fringe of his bangs is wavier than the rest of his hair. But it’s no real bother to him. In fact, he once used a hair iron and some gel to straighten that bit of hair for a day and a number of people commented that the straight bangs made him look weirdly gloomy. And so Fuegoleon decided to leave the hair as is. It frames his face quite nicely after all!

Lollipop - Call him old school or traditional but Fuegoleon believes leading one’s partner by the arm is a very romantic gesture. It means he and his lover get to walk close to each other, a simple intimacy, while still maintaining a sense of propriety. And with his partner already so close, he can then raise their hand for a kiss or press a kiss to their cheek when he pleases.

Candy apple - Fuegoleon cries quietly, he doesn’t sob or wail but once the tears start flowing, it’s hard for him to stop crying. He doesn’t hide it either. As sorrow is not a shameful thing. It’s proof that someone has a heart as they value something enough to be hurt by its damage or loss. Fuegoleon has attended funerals with tears running down his face and his head held high. His sorrow honors those who have been lost.

Hard candy - Fuegoleon doesn’t like it but anger can stew in him for a time and the best way for him to overcome it is with thought. He can’t vent through shouting or unleashing his magic disguised as training. Fuegoleon has to walk off, find a space where he won’t be bothered, and pace the room as he goes over everything in his head. He’s emotional but he must also find rationality in the scorching heat of anger. Feelings of displeasure and irritation get to him but Fue strives to never let them get the better of him.

Caramel - When in the act, Fuegoleon might pause to simply breathe and feel his partner’s presence. He’ll stop to look them in the eyes. Or rub a hand up and down their arm. He’ll smile at them knowing that they are with him, finding pleasure alongside him. He likes that he can be alone with them, enjoying a side of them that no one else will have. Intimate time lasts a while with Fuegoleon, simply because he likes to make it linger.

Marmalade - If Fue’s partner snuggles real close to him at night, they’d notice that Fuegoleon breathes a little heavier at night. It’s not to a degree where it’s cause concern but Fuegoleon’s sleepy exhales can be felt as a little puff of air.

Jelly bean - His sneezes are soooo quiet. Meanwhile Mereoleona and Leopold can be heard across the castle when they sneeze. His family has said that his sneezes are the quietest part about him. It’s something cute and a little funny about Fue.

I had to keep a hold of this for a while and savour this bag of candy~

I keep on figuring out things that make me mourn Morgen more…

So in Charlotte’s flashback of when her curse activated and Yami saved her, Yami is shown smoking a cigarette.

We know from chapter 286 that Yami only started to smoke after Morgen’s death.

Considering that Yami, Nacht, and Morgen were born the same year and Charlotte was born a year after, that means that the twins’ 19th birthday was the same year as Charlotte’s 18th birthday (the year her curse fully awoke).

Morgen was only 19 for a few months (4 tops) before he died.

And I’m just lying here like…

I can’t stop thinking about the Fausts and their tragedy…

Little next gen interactions I just thought of…

Leonidas and Dawn run off together and disappear for a bit. Fue and Nacht eventually find the two in a dark closet… arguing and competing over whose magic is stronger.

Dawn: Mine is Light Magic! Of course mine is brighter!

Leon: It maybe be brighter but your magic also lacks any heat which my attribute can supply!

Solara pokes her head into the library and sees Dusk and Cyra on a sofa together. Cyra has fallen asleep and her head is on Dusk’s lap. Dusk is completely still, not wanting to wake Cyra.

Solara: Ahhh. Looks like she must’ve been up late again. Here, I’ll help carry her to her room.

Dusk: Uh, no… She shouldn’t be disturbed if she’s so tired so… I’ll… I can wait…

…..

Josele hears a commotion. The cause? A maid has spotted Eleonora and Vivian climbing to the roof of the castle. Being a protective mama bear, Josele goes after them and gets them back on the ground.

Nora: It was Vivian’s idea. She said the open space would be ideal for me to show off how big I can make my flames.

Josele: (looks at Vivian)

Vivian: Eleonora speaks truth. I deemed the roof the area to have the lowest chance of catching on fire.

Just the Vermillions and the Fausts having a grand ol’ time together. 🥺

The families are bonding! T^T Though Fue and Nacht might not be that thrilled about it, but... their wives and kids are having fun ^^ Or at least having adventures. And in the case of Vivi and Nora, enabling each other.

Okay, I’m here again to talk about an underappreciated lady: Tetia.

Most interesting thing about her in my opinion is more a question. What was it that inspired her (and Lumiere) to be so open to uniting the humans and elves? It seems that a good majority of the nobles of that time were anti-elf. What could’ve been such a strong and good influence of Tetia to make her disagree with her family/people?

Biggest strength as a character: I think her strength is kinda a meta thing. Her symbolism. When the elves were attacked, she managed to survive (thanks to Nero). She quietly managed to pick herself up from losing EVERYTHING (her brother, husband, all her friends among the elves, one of her kids, and honestly the rest of the royal family because she’s definitely cutting ties with them). She raised her remaining child and they survived for descendants to be present 500 years later. She symbolizes a quiet and hidden hope that can’t be acted upon immediately but are the seeds of change in the future.

🍁-What's most interesting about them

That's a good point about her tbh. I always thought that Licht saving her was The Influence when it came to her personal opinions about the elves, but it didn't seem like the two of them (Lumiere and Tetia) were that thrown off by receiving help from an elf to begin with, so they must've been quite open about them right from the start.

I also think that it's inetersting how Tetia was, I dare to claim, quite adventurous since she wasn't in the best of condition and yet she decided to venture out into the nature. And I don't think she was exactly right at the castle's backyard.

She really said "my body or family isn't the boss of me, I'm going to see the world" (or at least the surrounding areas).

🍂-What's their strength as a person?

Her determination and openness, I'd say, in connection to the previous point.

🌼-What's their strength as a character?

Agreed. I think in a way you could argue that Tetia herself symbolizes hope. It will persevere no matter what, because she survived through so so so much. The lady is a fighter

Marx's magic can affect from a distance though? Like it's been only shown to create a kind of "video call" so far, but my point is that Marx doesn't necessarily need to be physically close to a person while communicating with them/to them, which could, with a slight stretch, still allow for a level of mind control happen.

Like the fault in my argument, and one that I can't answer, is what Lucius is using to control Marx. Because there's a loop in the argument. "If Lucius needs Marx to alter memories in order to control, then what is allowing him to control the controlling agent". That being said, I don't think Marx is one of the bad guys.

Actually, it's much more likely that he's... let's say on the down low and for example with the WQ atm, because she knows a lot of what's up

🍄 - Do you have/want any piercings?

I have two sets of ear piercings on my ear lobes, and I used to have one on the cartilage of my right ear but it has since then closed up. I do think about getting it pierced again though. Another one I considered while younger was a belly button piercing, but the precaution time to make sure it doesn't get infected made it seem too much like a hassle. Plus it's not that appealing any more. So, maybe ear cartilage again, but that's about it in terms of new piercings ^^'

🛩️ - If travelling was free, where's the first place you'd go to?

I'd go to Kyoto quite probably with hubby. He's been there once, but I've pretty much only been around the Tokyo/Yokohama axis (If we don't count the very brief visit I did to the Yamagata.) and I'd love to see Kyoto as well!

🐷 - What's your favourite animal?

I do love cats. It seems like such a predictable answer, but at least my cat is such a sweetheart and a fluff ball, and I love her 🥺 I'm a cat person (but I've lived in a household with dogs too and they're cute as well, it's just a preference)

If you still want some soft feel headcanons I'll try to give some...

-Nacht brushes the fur/feathers of his devils as a bonding activity. They like it very much.

-Sometimes, Morgen might take a nap outside and wake up to an animal napping on his lap. They're just drawn to him.

-When Noelle was still living at House Silva, Nozel would sometimes wake in the middle of the night to check on her and make sure she was safe.

-Noelle definitely seems like to type to kick her feet when she's enjoying something REALLY yummy.

-Charlotte named the first rose bush she successfully grew on her own. She was so proud of herself and was so attached to the bush she just had to name it. Its name was Margaret.

I think everyone can always use a little bit of soft!! So, I don't mind at all. ^^

Oh, I love the idea of the Devil Quartet going to pets and scratches to Nacht. And sometimes there just might be a pile of devils on him as he's laying in bed or an arm chair. God forbid anyone (except Josele) seeing this though.

Awww nothing quite like animals feeling drawn to the Light mages in general! ^^

Yes! Especially when she was still a toddler, big brother Nozel was there to make sure she was okay (because we all know Papa Silva never was).

I shall prepare a similar shrine for Nacht and Morgen in my own home for similar purposes.

Sadly most of my merch is in Finland... But I just happen to be flying there in a week or so... So... I could set up a shrine during the break that the manga is on 👀👀 that's a good idea 🤔 in the mean I'm hugging the Vermillions close while squinting and shaking my fist at Tabs 😤❤️🔥 /lh

Hiya, Laura~! Can I get your thoughts on Mereo and maybe Leo if you have the time? I do love it when you talk about the lion siblings~!

Hiya Erika~!! ^^ Yay, more lion siblingssss!!!!

Hmm... Well, Mereo I already established, in the Fue post, to be a kind of a genius. Because she was allowed to pursue her own path as a mage (and suppose to an extent, as a knight) by herself, because she could do it. I have a feeling that if she was told to explain how she does some things when it comes to magic, she couldn't. Like... in the same way why a gymnastic (apologies if the gymnastics around there don't agree), might not be able to explain in terms of physics why some move is best done in a certain way, but instead they just train and hone that skill through practice. So Mereo, isn't trained in magic theory, but it doesn't mean that she couldn't use the techniques.

She's the kind of a genius that is found from the wild, instead of some dusty college building. And she doesn't care about not being called as a genius. In fact, I don't think it'd be a word that she'd use for herself. Though, I don't think that she really even thinks about whether to use, or not use, the word to describe herself. She just is. And she's always trying to improve, because "the strong survive and the weak perish".

I also think that, that is why she wants to push her brothers to be the very best versions of themselves that they can be. She doesn't go easy on them, because the world certainly won't, and she wants her brothers to survive. It's the "if you do anything, you need to do it like you mean it!" And, to an extent, it makes me think that Mereo knows something, or has seen something, of which she doesn't tell to anyone. Which... she could very well have seen/become aware of, even accidentally, during her travels. Maybe she saw something she only understood later on, which pushed her even harder to be the person that she is today, to be out in the wilds, and to be the Uncrowned Undefeated Lioness. But then again, I also don't think that her character necessarily needs to have some big profound secret, in order for her to be just like that. It could also just be a product of her witnessing nature as it is.

And because she pushes her brothers, shows them tough love, and I do think that it is tough love, I think that she is an incredibly caring sister. She was also on a warpath when Fue was put in a coma. She went on a "I have will have your leader's head!!" (and she is yet to collect it, technically...) for Fue. Plus, she stayed around a bit more after that, as far as I can tell. But generally speaking she comes and she goes.

Additonally, I think that it's interesting how she's the only one out of the Fire Vermillions to not have made an oath, and thus gain the symbol on one's forehead. So, she really is living by her own rules, and for herself. She's not interested in the title of becoming the next Wizard Queen. But also, I find it interesting that the oldest Vermillion brother's have similar earrings as Vanessa, but that's again connecting to the Witch Queen Vermillion theory, and besides the topic...

I think Mereo I've seen Mereo being described as "sadistic", but I don't think that's accurate. She's tough, yes. She enjoys a brawl, yes. She's not afraid of bloodshed, yes. But "sadistic"? ...No, that doesn't... quite feel right. Because there is a difference between being a hunter, and enjoying the thrill of a hunt opposed to enjoying the suffering of the prey. But that's just my opinion.

Moving on to Leo.

I think that Leo is only now beginning to grow, or ... bloom (?), to go for the more Flower Vermillion kind of a thematic. And I think it's because he has admired his siblings so much, and taken what they, especially Fuegoleon, has said, to the heart. Leo has been trying to use those methods in order to grow stronger, but hasn't, or didn't, realize that it wasn't perhaps the right way for him to learn. Because there are as many learning styles as there are learners. And Fue's methods quite simply don't necessarily fit Leo the best.

But I'm really glad to see him striving in Heart! And there really is something so... warrior -like, in him saying to Sivoir "if you don't want to get hurt, stay out of the battlefield!". Like, he really went with 'if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen'. Which shows me that Leo means business, and he knows what being a knight means. It means sacrifice, it means (potential) loss, it means (potential) injury, it means protecting what's right, it means standing up for those who can't. I think that Leo is a very notable candidate for the next Wizard King, though he is a late bloomer, but he goes unnoticed. And I think that Leo would be a very level headed king.

Sometimes I feel that Leo is reduced in fanon into this dumb 'all smiles' guy, when he is talented, grounded, and witty in his own way. It's just that he hasn't had the chance to shine. And just like the rest of his siblings, he doesn't judge people based on where they come from, he judges them based on what they do and how they treat others. Mereo is more of a "real strength is real strength", and Fue is more "how you treat those who are lesser than you, defines you", and I think that Leo is a combination of the two views. He is boisterous and good natured, but he is a lion too, and can be ferocious when angered. He just needs to have his moment in the sun.

The Vermillion siblings are just the best, in my humble opinion

You know I JUST realized... What would Lucius think of Thea and all their teyus? What would they teyus think of Lucius' whole "no magic = defective" thought that was directed to Asta?????

That is a very good question, and the way I decided to approach it, was back when I was talking (or the characters were discussing) about Asta's "no mana" and how it's "strange".

The thing is, that since it has been established that Asta is "an anomaly" of a kind, I specifically added a conversation that referred to something said earlier (and I'm prepared to dig the specific chapters in Embers and BWHI) which made it possible to teyus not have magic, while still keeping it true that Asta is the "anomaly" of the universe.

The way I explained it is that though teyus can't use magic, it's due to mana depletion in their blood lines. So, they do have cantamnar, or remnants of them, but they have shrivelled to a point where they can't be used anymore. This was also why the whole Divine Evaluation and trying to imbed one's own grimoire with as much more "potent" mana as possible. To boost mana and fight the depletion back. Because it's reducing from the bloodlines little by little.

Asta, on the other hand, doesn't have these structures in him, and is completely un-touched by anything having to do with mana. A Thean researcher might go into lengths, maybe even write a thesis on, how Asta can utilize anti-magic because of the lack of cantamnar, because even to a teyu, antimagic might be harmful due to the present, though ineffective, cantamnar.

So, in short, he'd probably go "you guys are weird but not a worry of mine... at the time that is"

It's not too much! But sorry that I kept you waiting for a while. She ended up being more difficult than expected, because I felt, in a weird way, that I was... glorifying (?) her? It's silly, I know. But here they are!

The Five Senses

Sound

The room you’re in, is tranquil, quiet, but not without a sound.

Scratching of a pen, ruffling of clothes, and a passing, quite hum or a sigh break through the silence once in a while. But as you approach, and ask a question; your heals click against the floor, the scratching of the pen ceases.

A question flows through the air, light, gentle, warm. It sounds warm. Patient, but not slow.

It is a request for you to elaborate, to speak. There is no rush.

But there is certainty in it. Security.

It doesn’t try to be gentle. The sound. It doesn’t try anything.

It isn’t forced.

The sounds of clothes ruffling. A chair scraping against the floor. They are determined, with a direction. Not hasted, but careful. Not timid, but evaluating.

There are changes in the flow, the tone, the weight. But they come and they go with what comes. It is not grey and monotone, but alive instead.

Sight

Warm golden tones that flicker in the light of the sun. The strands of hair, as if auburn underneath the surface that contrast the green in her eyes. Two opposites, red and green, pulled together by gold. The gold over red, and the gold hidden within green.

But the tones in her hair, her eyes and her lips, and framed by the cold undertones of the clothes. Blue, black, and burgundy. Cold over warm, and warm over cold.

Balance.

Balance that exists between the skin and the hair and the eyes, too. Porcelain with warm gold and green. Porcelain that is fragile, and dull; uninteresting. But it is what it is. And so is her frame. Fragile; slender.

So much fragile. Everywhere but the eyes. The eyes that are forest green, amidst of which gold flickers, as if a foliage of a forest in summer. Something commonly. But sometimes there is beauty in dull, common things.

Smell

The room you’re in has a lingering scent of ink, and something sweet; smooth and herbal, which combines with the underlying scent of paper. Varnished wood and a leather chair. Rich, earthy and heavy.

But the woman next to you carries something lighter; floral. It is rich, too, but also sensual. It is sweet, and wild.

Secure and free. Both, at the same time, which, perhaps, makes it as tantalizing as it is. Even if only as a faint, subtle touch in the air. As if a secret. Something to stumble upon.

But at the same time, it is as if it belongs, in that room, too, with that sweet, herbal scent of tea. It is not out of place. Not in that room, nor outdoors with all the wildflowers.

One has to wonder, if the scent if more of ink and tea, or more meadows and sunlight.

Or perhaps it is simply both.

Touch

The fabric underneath your fingertips is rough. Rigid. Sturdy and thick. Not uncomfortable in itself, but still as if a shell of fabric. And it covers. To the point where the patches of skin on show are scarce; only hands and face.

Perhaps more during the humid summer months, but not now.

Now, the fabric seems to go on. Until… you reach a threshold. A point between skin and clothe. Beyond it, there is softness. Nearly dry; as if matte. The surface of a pillow.

And as your touch continues further, there is a streak of something silken. Light. Strands of hair amidst of which your fingers sink; into an embrace.

Rough, soft, and silken. Layers upon layers. But underneath there is something soft.

Taste

Soon.

A moment to cherish the act, the kiss to come. Perhaps time passes by, but it is past you. It exists, somewhere else.

But here, just before your lips would touch hers, time doesn’t exist. Not until, the wait comes to an end, and your mouths meet.

Roses. Her lip balm bears the taste of roses. Even if only a little. And it combines with something else.

Tea. Coffee. Maybe caramel. Or then the tea was simply sweet. You can’t tell. But it is rich, and soft, and melts in your mouth.

She tastes like a late evening, just before sunset. She tastes like something good and comforting.

Something familiar, and yet something new, with a little bit of thrill.

1. How long ago did you start reading fanfiction? Writing fanfiction?

I started reading fanfic at the beginning of 2020, and by August I was writing fanfic (because I was devoid of content, okay)

18. Do you have a WIP that you keep telling yourself you’ll eventually get back to, but deep down you know that’s probably a lie?

Y'know, this is probably WNF (When Night Fell) the second book of Embers that has events from Lara's childhood from the pov of her peers. I got to the Caedis family and I didn't really know what to do with it, and I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to write about what makes the Caedis what they are. I do have one chapter like... half written tho.

32. Copy and paste your top three favorite lines/jokes/sentences you’ve ever written. What fics do they come from?

There are many lines that I like, I think, but it's usually when asked, that I can't think them. But these I do like.

39. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

Making it about emotions. I am proud to depict the emotions that the characters are going through with metaphors and the way I'm able to bend the words.
