This is along the Fay Canyon Trail in Coconino National Forest.

End of Trail by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: An exhibit or sign posted in this forested setting along the Fay Canyon Trail. While my thought and composing this image was to initially just capture an image of the sign, I decided to pull back on the focal length and include more of the surrounding setting. Metering the image was a little more difficult as I knew the areas caught in sunlight would be quite bright compared to the more shadowed areas amongst the trees. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

Taking in Views Seen at the End of the Fay Canyon Trail by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: At the trail posted sign for the end of the Fay Canyon Trail with a view looking to the north-northwest with an opening through some nearby tall trees. My thinking in composing this image was to angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly upward with a wider angle view and use the heights all around to create a sense of grandeur.

It Isn't Hard to Imagine a Beautiful Place in Coconino National Forest by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While waking the Fay Canyon Trail in Coconino National Forest with a view looking to the northwest to the cliffs and high ground around the Bear Mountain area. My thinking in composing this image was to use a more leveled-on view and let eyes first be drawn to the nearby trees before coming up to the peaks as they seemingly rose all around.

I'd rather be in the mountains thinking about God... by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: The start of a favorite quote of mine from John Muir that I’ve come to really appreciate while exploring and hiking in the national parks and forests in the western US and Canada. There is a peace and wonder that seems to satisfy my soul, so to speak, whenever I put my kit on and head out to walk amongst the beauty present. It just so happened to be a Sunday morning as I headed out to walk the Fay Canyon Trail and another trail. Not many people out but many sounds with a quiet breeze and birds singing!

The view is looking to the north-northwest across the forested landscape to my front with Bear Mountain and peaks as the distant view and backdrop. Shortly after capturing this image, I would be hiking into and taking in views of this part of the national forest.
