Been reading some Lancer 3rd party material that I kickstarted, and I must say that MS & O (Marley, Oz & Silver Lending & Consultation) are by far the funniest mech manufacterer in the setting.
-They're poor as fuck and all their mechs and gear are full of hodgepodge solutions held together with metaphorical duct tape. Their R&D Department is described as "three guys and a truck" something they desperately try to hide as they pursue a contract with IPS-N, one of the corporate giants of the setting.
-They have a mech, the Frankenstein that is widely as the ugliest mech in existence that is not a memetic hazard. As in, anything uglier than it will actively cause brain damage in people.
-They have a mech named the Donner. Obviously, it is a cannibal.
-The Rasputin is absolutely humongous, very round, is based on russian matrioschka dolls and is the only mech to date that has absolutely no arms or other manipulators, leaving it the only mech that actually incapable of engaging in melee combat in way other than trying to bump people with its sheer mass.
As in, its the only mech that cannot equip melee weapons. Ever.
-Their flahship heavy weapon, which is also the only heavy weapon they manufacture is just a enormous laser pointer.
No, really. Its a targeting laser so incredibly large that when you use it to tag a target is actually lights it on fire.
It was created as a drunken contest between a bunch of programmers and a engineer,
-They didn't have the money to make a proper hacking mech, so their's instead load its hacks into a gun and fires them at enemy mechs. It works.
-One of their mechs is a robot cowboy. Complete with a lasso.
-Another mech lowers its reactor heat by simply generating so much of it that it cracks its own armour plating, thus generating new "vents". Not a very safe practice.
Not suprisingly, the very same mech is known to self-immolate with some frequency, leading to a accurate stereotype of its pilots as being suicidal.
I love them. Also one of very few mech manufacturers that actually are quite morally upstanding and can be considered Good.
