A Summoning
The lights in the room flickered violently before going out completely. An unnaturally thick darkness seemed to emanate from the center of the circle of runic symbols on the floor.
All was silent until a small but cold voice pierced the quiet and blinding darkness both. “Who are you to summon me here?”
“I’m but a humble man, of course.” Jeavicus Stormborn leaned smugly against the wall of his apartment, confident that his summoning magic had indeed worked as intended.
“I would know what you want. Why have you called me?” The lights flickered back on but the center of the room still seemed oddly shrouded in shadow. In the midst of the strange fog stood a dark-skinned woman with hair as black as the night sky and a stern expression. “Speak quickly, or die.”
The man chuckled, “Slow down, beautiful. Try not to excite me too much at our first meeting…”
The woman walked forward slowly, pressing her palm against what seemed like thin air, it held fast like an invisible wall. “I’m not sure you heard me correctly,” came the woman.
With a powerful shockwave that shattered the windows of the apartment, Anthea forced her hand through the invisible barrier of the circle. In an instant, she had rushed forward, pinning the Miqo’te against the wall with her left forearm; she pressed a keen stone spike against his neck.
“...I said to speak quickly, and I do hate repeating myself. Why. Am. I. Here.” She spoke softly, menacingly as she pushed the spike forward just an ilm, beginning to draw blood.
Suddenly, Jeavicus’ eyes rolled back as horns began to emerge from his head, curling around themselves as they grew. When he looked back at her, his eyes were different, ancient… dark. They held her gaze, threatening to pull her into the void forever.
Anthea gasped in shock and in the blink of an eye she was… gone.
The apartment had been completely destroyed and was pitch black once again as the strange fog began to clear. However, those who witnessed the events of that night from outside of the building would swear they heard a deep, haunting howl that echoed throughout the Twelveswood for malms.
((Thank you to the writer of Jeavicus for his help with this short! I'm really excited to see where this arc goes ♥))
