Can't post on Reddit right now, bc mod strike solidarity. But this would normally go on R/MaliciousCompliance.
So, my family moved into our current house about four years ago now. When we first saw it, it immediately jumped out at us as perfect. It had a number of bedrooms where nobody would have to share, but not so much space that it would be impossible to clean. Nice view, garden space, seemingly all you could want.
We bought the house, but not a week after we had moved in there started to be some pretty glaring problems.
1: The water heater didn't work, and we had to have it repaired.
2: Water leakage which was damaging the structure of the house, and causing black slime mould in the walls.
3: Some weird shit going on with lights that only sometimes worked (we saw the house in person, but only in full daylight where this would not be obvious).
4: A septic tank they hadn't had serviced in five fucking years.
5(And this was perhaps the most immediately relevant to us at the time): The heat didn't work. And we moved in at the start of winter.
And of course, we had not been informed of any of these things when we bought it. We were told that everything was fine, and they'd literally JUST gotten some things fixed to sell it. Nevermind that those 'repairs' were as slap-dash as they could possibly be done.
Based on this, I expect you get the impression that we absolutely fucking despise the family that lived in our house before us.
And on top of everything, they didn't even fix their mailing address, so we still got their mail. And after calling them about it, and re-directing their mail for an entire bloody year, we were told to 'just stop bothering them about it'.
You want us to stop telling you when we get your mail? Well ok then.
Shortly after we were told that, we received one of their phone bills, and since we were told not to, we politely did not tell them about it.
We're still getting overdue notices on it, and we get to watch in smug, petty, spiteful joy as their credit score is slowly but surely destroyed by a piece of paper they told us not to tell them about.
Fuck you, lying jackasses. Here's the sweet, sweet consequences of your actions.

So I got something wrong about killdozer. I came to the conclusion the Heemeymer's improvised septic tank was a creation as a result of him being denied better means. This was just from giving him a minimal benefit of doubt.
Turn out Heemeymer never installed the fucked up cement mixer septic tank that mostly functioned. Cody Docheff installed it and left a minor EPA oil spill disaster on the property.
Heemeymer's property was previously owned my Docheff and he felt entitled to it, but he also left a lot of problems that Heemeymer was left to fix and Heemeymer was ended up stuck paying for it. Meanwhile everyone was leaning on him expecting him to give up and selling it back to Docheff.

A Perfect Disaster
Dean hadn't meant to end up with a cabin.
It had all started on a hunt. Because of course it did. It had been during those off-kilter days after Cas came home again, finally, to stay. Days when Dean had ping-ponged between needing to wrap Cas in cotton and wanting to shake him until his teeth rattled.
Dean was obnoxious. He knew he was being obnoxious. And he couldn't stop himself.
Because Cas was back, he was here, saved from an eternal, oily black nightmare, the final miracle from a short-term God. And Dean couldn't handle it. He was an entire mess when Cas was gone and he wasn't much better when Cas came back.
Frankly, he was an asshole. Such a huge asshole that Sam practically threw a hunt in his face, telling him to get the fuck out until he pulled his head out of his fucking ass.
Okay, maybe not in those exact words, but his meaning had been pretty fucking clear. Dean might have been a mess but he wasn't a moron.
Anyway, the cabin had been owned by some guy named Paul or Pwilliam or what the fuck ever. It'd definitely been a poltergeist problem, one that Dean cleared up with gusto and more than a little flare, if he did say so himself
He'd certainly impressed Partholomew, enough that the dude had flat-out given him the cabin before running out of town with his tail between his legs.
It's possible the cabin had electrical issues. And septic tank issues. And raccoons living in the attic. And a sketchy title history. But those weren't anything that a little sweat and discreet hacking of county databases couldn't fix.
On the drive back to the bunker, Dean started making plans. He spent enough time back in the bunker to pack up the essentials and sweet-talk Cas into coming with him. All in all, it wasn't long before he was back on the road, his best friend and not so secret love of his life riding shotgun.
Some people (Sam) thought that Dean was being impulsive and maybe a little self-destructive. But some people (Sam again) didn't know what the fuck they were talking about. Dean might not have planned on owning a cabin, but he'd had so many dreams over the years of getting out, living his own life and being free of the weight of his past. So many fantasies had fluttered past his eyes as he'd fallen asleep, or hazy visions met somewhere before the bottom of the bottle; soft illusions of sunshine and warm smiles, of happiness that he wasn't brave enough to believe in, let alone take for himself.
It wasn't impulse to grab a hold of a good thing when you saw it. It was bravery. For the first time in Dean's life he was brave enough to be selfish.
It wasn't easy, there were too many long days and longer nights. There was sweat and blood and one particularly vicious fight with Cas. But none of that mattered, not really. Dean was happy. Cas was happy. They were happy together.
They were home.

How to Maintain Your Septic System for Optimal Performance
Tumblr media
Septic tanks are a necessary part of many homes, and proper care and maintenance are essential for keeping them running smoothly. Unfortunately, many people do not know how to properly take care of their septic system, which can lead to various problems. This article will discuss septic tank care and maintenance basics to keep your system running optimally. Browse through https://plumbingtechie.com website if you need specifics information concerning septic system.
What Is a Septic System, and What Does It Do?
A septic system is a privately owned, on-site wastewater treatment system. It typically consists of a tank and a drain field. Wastewater from your home flows into the tank, where bacteria treat it. The treated effluent then flows into the drain field, where soil filters purify it.
What Are the Most Common Problems with Septic Systems?
It is important to note that improper care and maintenance of septic systems are the most common cause of problems. These include:
Clogged Filters
When the filters in your septic system become clogged, it can cause the system to back up and overflow. This can lead to unsanitary conditions and flooding. It can also be expensive to fix a clogged septic system.
Mechanical Problems
If the pump or other mechanical components of your septic system fail, your system may malfunction. This can lead to untreated wastewater being discharged into the environment. Make sure your septic system is in good working condition by having a professional inspect it.
Maintaining Your Septic Tank
Proper care and maintenance is the best way to maintain your septic system. This includes:
Pumping your septic Tank Regularly
Pumping your septic tank regularly is one of the most important things you can do. Depending on the size of your tank and the number of people in your household, you may need to pump it every one to three years.
While this may seem like a hassle, it's a small price to prevent your septic system from failing. Solid waste can build up in the tank without regular pumping and eventually clog the drain field. This can cause sewage to back into your home, leading to costly repairs.
Using Water Efficiently
If you use more water than your septic system can handle, it will not be able to treat all the wastewater before it is appropriately discharged. As a result, you may see sewage backing up into your home or yard or notice that your drains are slow or clogged.
To avoid overloading your septic system, use water efficiently. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth, fix leaks as soon as possible, and spread laundry throughout the week. You should also avoid using features like sprinklers and hoses that use lots of water simultaneously. Using water wisely can help keep your septic system running smoothly for years to come.
Avoiding Harmful Chemicals
youtube
You can keep your septic system in top shape by avoiding harmful chemicals. Many household cleaners, bleach, and even some toilet paper contain chemicals that can damage the bacteria in your septic tank that break down waste. As a result, these chemicals can build waste, clogs, and even sewage backups.
To protect your septic system, only use cleaning products that are safe for septic systems and be sure to dispose of any harmful chemicals properly. You can also help maintain your septic system by regularly inspecting and pumping it.
Inspecting Your System Regularly
It is the best way to keep your septic system in top condition. Inspections should be done at least once a year and more often if you have many people using your system or if there are any signs of problems.
Conclusion
Septic systems are often out of sight and mind until there is a problem. Routine maintenance is essential to avoid costly repairs and ensure the system works correctly. Pump out your septic tank every 3-5 years and have your septic system inspected by a professional. Homeowners should also know what they can and cannot put down their drains.

Comprehensive Plumbing Services in Toledo: Roto-Rooter
If clogged drains, sewer line leaks, septic pumping failures, and worn-out water heaters have you stressed out, stop worrying and call Toledo Roto Rooter plumbers for prompt, professional plumbing repairs and installation services. Need a plumber ASAP at 3 a.m. or on the weekends? Emergency plumbers are standing by at Roto Rooter, ready to fix annoying leaks, broken pipes, backed-up drains, and other bathroom and kitchen plumbing issues.
Tumblr media
The Best Drain Cleaning Toledo Has to Offer
Grease build-up, food debris, and foreign objects are the most common causes of kitchen drain clogs. Hair, soap scum, and mineral deposits prevent water from draining normally in bathtubs and bathroom sinks. Toilet clogs often involve blocked toilet traps, leaking sewer lines, non-flushable objects being flushed, or mechanical problems.
After determining the cause of a clogged drain, our Toledo plumbers may use drain augers or snakes, biodegradable enzyme cleaners that won't harm pipes, or hydro jetting to remove the clog. Hydro jetting pushes a stream of highly pressurized water through obstructed pipes forceful enough to break up dense clogs, hard mineral scale, and even tree roots stuck inside pipes.
Sewer Line Repair in Toledo
Slow-moving drains, a persistent sewage odor around your home or business, unusual mold growth, and saturated areas of your lawn are signs that you need sewer line repair. You may hear gurgling or bubbling sounds coming from drains and toilets if pockets of air get trapped in a blocked or broken sewage line. Fortunately, repairing a damaged sewer line does not mean digging up large portions of your lawn. Instead, Roto Rooter can provide trenchless sewer line repair that requires our plumbers to dig a small hole, insert an inflatable liner into the existing, damaged pipe, and perform a curing process to ensure the lining lasts as long as the pipe.
Water Heater Installation
Standard tank water heaters generally last around ten years, depending on water quality, the number of people in the household, and the type/brand of water heater. If your water heater is ten years or older, you might consider installing a new one to avoid the unexpected loss of hot water during cold weather.
Our Roto Rooter Toledo plumbers may be able to repair a failing water heater by replacing the thermostat or heating elements. When sediment buildup at the bottom of the tank causes hot water to smell or appear cloudy, flushing the tank may help temporarily. However, persistent sediment accumulation indicates tank corrosion and the possibility of bacterial growth inside the tank.
When they need the skills of an experienced plumber Toledo residents can count on Roto Rooter for regular and emergency plumbing repair and installation services. From routine maintenance and drain cleaning to sewer line repair and septic tank pumping, our Toledo plumbing solutions will keep water flowing uninterrupted in your home or business. Call today to learn more about our residential and commercial plumbing services.

Why Is Regular Sump Pit and Septic Tank Cleaning Essential for Your Home?
Maintaining a clean and functional sump pit and septic tank is vital for the health of your home and the surrounding environment. While these systems often go unnoticed in our day-to-day lives, neglecting their upkeep can lead to significant problems. So, why is it crucial to schedule regular sump pit and septic tanks cleaning? Let’s explore the importance of this maintenance in detail.
The Role of Sump Pits and Septic Tanks in Your Home’s System
Both sump pits and septic tanks serve essential roles in ensuring your home operates smoothly. A sump pit is designed to collect and manage excess water, especially during heavy rains or flooding, preventing water damage to your home. A septic tank, on the other hand, treats and processes household wastewater, breaking down solids and allowing liquid waste to flow into the drain field.
Without proper sump pit and septic tanks cleaning, these systems can become clogged, inefficient, and ultimately fail, leading to costly repairs and hazardous conditions. Here’s why timely maintenance is non-negotiable.
Tumblr media
What Happens When You Neglect Sump Pit and Septic Tank Maintenance?
Backups and Blockages: Over time, debris, sludge, and solid waste can accumulate in both the sump pit and septic tank. If these are not cleared regularly, the buildup can block the systems, leading to backups in your home. This can result in flooded basements or contaminated water backing up into your household drains.
Environmental Hazards: A malfunctioning septic tank can cause untreated wastewater to leak into the surrounding soil and groundwater, contaminating the environment and posing a serious health risk. Failing to clean the septic tank regularly could result in environmental penalties in some jurisdictions.
Damage to Property: Water damage from an overflowing sump pit can ruin your home’s foundation, causing cracks, mold growth, and other structural issues. Likewise, a failed septic system can result in foul odors, unsightly wastewater pools in your yard, and damage to your property’s landscape.
Costly Repairs: It’s often said that prevention is better than cure, and this couldn’t be more true when it comes to sump pits and septic tanks. Regular sump pit and septic tanks cleaning can save you from expensive emergency repairs down the line. Replacing a damaged septic system or fixing a flooded basement can cost thousands of dollars, far exceeding the price of routine maintenance.
Signs It’s Time to Clean Your Sump Pit or Septic Tank
Slow Drains: If your sinks, bathtubs, or toilets are draining slowly, it could be a sign that your septic tank is reaching capacity or there’s a blockage in the system. Similarly, a sump pump that seems to run continuously without removing water effectively may indicate that the pit needs cleaning.
Foul Smells: Unpleasant odors around your home, particularly near the sump pit or septic system, are a red flag. These smells usually result from a build-up of waste materials that need to be cleared out.
Pooling Water: If you notice puddles of water forming around your septic tank or wet patches in your yard, it’s likely that your septic system is overflowing. In the case of a sump pit, water pooling near the pit could indicate the pump is failing to handle the load due to debris buildup.
Unusual Noises: Gurgling sounds in your pipes or water backing up through drains may suggest there’s a blockage in your septic system, signaling the need for immediate cleaning.
How Often Should You Clean Your Sump Pit and Septic Tank?
The frequency of sump pit and septic tanks cleaning depends on various factors, including the size of your household, the amount of water usage, and the size of the systems themselves. Generally, it is recommended to clean:
Sump pits: At least once a year, especially before the rainy season. If your home is prone to flooding, more frequent checks may be necessary.
Septic tanks: Every 3 to 5 years. However, if your household produces a lot of wastewater or if you notice any of the warning signs mentioned above, you may need more frequent cleanings.
The Process of Cleaning a Sump Pit and Septic Tank
Inspection: A professional will begin by inspecting your sump pit and septic tank, checking for signs of damage or blockages. They’ll ensure that the systems are functioning correctly before beginning the cleaning process.
Pumping: For a septic tank, a vacuum truck is typically used to pump out the solid waste, sludge, and scum. The process ensures the system is cleared of any build-up, restoring it to optimal function.
Debris Removal: For a sump pit, debris such as mud, leaves, and other materials are removed from the pit. The sump pump is also checked and cleaned to ensure it is working properly.
Inspection Post-Cleaning: After the cleaning process, the systems are inspected again to ensure there are no lingering issues, and everything is functioning as it should.
Conclusion:
Ignoring the maintenance of your sump pit and septic tank can lead to a range of problems, from costly repairs to environmental hazards. Regular sump pit and septic tanks cleaning is essential to avoid these issues and ensure your systems work efficiently.
If you’ve noticed any of the warning signs or it’s been a while since your last cleaning, it’s time to act. Professional cleaning services can help you prevent future problems and save you money in the long run.
To schedule a professional cleaning for your sump pit or septic tank, reach out to our team today. We offer expert services to ensure your systems stay in top condition, protecting your home and the environment. Contact us now for a consultation!

How Do You Know If You Have a Traditional Septic or Aerobic System?
Unsure what type of wastewater treatment system is on your rural property? Traditional septic tanks and alternative systems like aerobic units or media filters all look similar underground.
Some clues to identify your system type include:
Age of Your Home – Newer systems are more likely advanced treatment designs
Manufacturer Stickers – Small metal plates or stickers may be visible with brand info
Control Panels – Aerobic systems have electrical control panels, standard septic tanks do not
System Documents – Install permits or home records may have system details
If still uncertain what you have, our Mullin Septic technicians can inspect and identify your property’s wastewater system.
What is a Septic System?
Septic systems are underground wastewater treatment solutions commonly used in properties not connected to municipal sewer lines. A typical septic setup includes a septic tank and drain field built from perforated pipes leading away from the tank.
Inside the septic tank, heavy solids settle out, lighter solids float to the top as scum, and a clarified middle layer of effluent forms between. Natural bacteria breaks down some contaminants. The clarified effluent then drains from the tank to the perforated pipes of the drain field where it percolates down through layers of soil and gravel that filter out remaining impurities.
4 Signs You May Need Septic System Repair:
Slow Draining Sinks or Toilets: If your fixtures are sluggish, your system could be backed up. Slow drainage indicates sewage isn’t exiting your septic tank properly.
Gurgling Noises from Plumbing: Loud gurgles from your drains or toilets may mean sewage is attempting to back up due to a clogged septic tank. Gas bubbles can also cause odd plumbing noises.
Sewage Backups into the Home: Water pooling around drains or outright sewage backups into sinks, toilets or tubs mean your septic system is severely clogged. Immediate repair attention is needed.
Strong Sewage Odors: If you smell unpleasant odors around your yard or home, gases may be leaking from your system. That can indicate a failing drain field or broken pipes releasing sewage under the ground.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Google Review
Had a very good experience with mullin plumbing. Dealing with a huge water leak with tons of company at my house was a bit stressful but Israel got right on the problem. He knew what to look for and found our problem in no time, he explained everything where it was easy to understand and had a calming presence over it all. He was very stilled and fixed what he could and called someone else to clean out our septic tank . They came within a few hours of calling and got it done same day. We have used them in the past and being a business owner myself know the value of customer service. Definitely call them again for any plumbing needs. Jason and Rachel

What is an Aerobic Treatment System?
Aerobic systems are a modern alternative to traditional septic tank setups. In aerobic units, effluent from the clarifying chamber passes through an aerator before reaching the drain field.
The aerator injects oxygen and mixes in aerobic bacteria. It facilitates further breakdown of viruses, waste, and pathogens. An advanced treatment process lets effluent safely percolate through a significantly smaller drain field.
Monitoring panels and alarms alert homeowners if repair attention is needed. Aerobic systems also require more routine maintenance than standard septic designs. But provide effective, eco-friendly rural wastewater management.
4 Signs You May Need Aerobic System Repair:
Aerator or Pump Not Working: If the aerator or effluent pump shuts down, sewage won’t receive proper treatment. The monitoring panel should indicate failures.
Treatment System Alarms: Any activated alarm light indicates something isn’t working right internally. Only a technician should reset alarms.
Backups and Clogs: Slow drains or sewage backups usually mean a clog before or after treatment. Clogs block wastewater flow.
Unpleasant Odors: If you notice sewage-like smells around the system, hydrogen sulfide gas may be releasing. This points to potential issues.
Our Aerobic System Repair & Maintenance:
Aerator Cleaning & Repair: We clear debris, test functionality, and replace worn parts like air diffusers or chlorinators if not working.
Pump Maintenance: Pumps experience wear and tear over years of use. We inspect pumps, clear obstructions and replace failing effluent pumps.
Pipe Inspections & Clearing: We use meticulous pipe camera checks and professional hydro jet clearing to remove stuck-on grease, waste and obstructions in pipes.
Filter Replacements: Internal microfilters trap suspended solids but require replacement every 2-3 years typically as pores clog up.
Panel Repairs: Faulty electrical panels mean vital system components aren’t receiving power. We troubleshoot and source solutions for panel issues.
Professional Servicing for Optimal Performance: Annual tune-ups optimize aerobic units. We follow manufacturer specifications for replacement parts and maintenance needs.

Aerobic System Awareness
Do you find yourself unfamiliar with aerobic system warning lights? We hope this allows you a better understanding of your aerobic systems’ needs!
Red light:
Orange light:
Alarm:
The alarm will sound with either the red light or the orange light. The alarm may be muted at the control panel until a highly experienced technician can examine the system. You can mute the alarm by going to the control panel or aerator pump and either clicking the silence button or pushing the alarm switch. The light will remain on until the issue is resolved.

FAQs
How often should you pump out a septic tank?
We recommend pumping every 3-5 years. More frequent pumping may be needed if you have a smaller tank, newer home, or use a garbage disposal often. Inspections help determine when tanks need to be emptied.
What are disadvantages of using a septic system?
Septic systems require ongoing maintenance like pumping. They have a limited lifespan and will eventually need full replacements. Aerobic systems reduce, but don’t eliminate, those downsides.
What impacts does a septic system have on the environment?
Untreated sewage overflowing from failing septic systems can impact groundwater and aquatic ecosystems. Well maintained systems filter effluent properly to avoid negative effects.
How do septic systems work to treat waste?
Solids settle and separate in baffled tanks as waste breaks down partially. Clarified effluent disperses through drain field pipes and gravel where more filtration occurs before soil absorption.
How much daily laundry is safe for a septic system?
We advise limiting loads to 6-8 per week. Compact HE washers use less water. Excessive water flows strain systems. Stagger laundry instead of doing multiple loads at once.
What signs indicate your septic tank needs to be pumped?
Slow drains, gurgling sounds, the presence of sewage odors, overly damp ground or lush grass around the tank or drain field point to a potentially full tank needing service.
Does homeowners insurance cover septic system failure?
Unfortunately homeowners insurance typically does not cover repair or replacement costs related to failed septic systems or drain fields. Some insurers may assist marginally if sewage backup damages the interior home structures and possessions. But the septic system itself and related issues like pipe repairs, pumping, drain field replacement etc. falls under normal maintenance excluded in policies. We advise discussing add-on septic coverage with providers to offset some potential expensive repair bills.
Why is my aerobic system alarm going off?
Alarms on aerobic units indicate issues with components like the aerator, pump, or treatment levels. Only qualified technicians should interpret alert codes and troubleshoot causes. Call us right away when aerobic alarms activate.
How long does an aerobic septic system last?
Properly maintained aerobic systems can last 20-30 years. Key components like air pumps, chlorinators, and control panels do wear out over time. Quality repairs and parts replacements extend system lifespans when needed.
How do you reset an aerobic septic system?
Resetting alarms requires pinpointing the trigger reason first, then addressing it. Alarms won’t deactivate until underlying problems get resolved. Technicians verify normal operation before conducting resets. Don’t bypass alarms without repairs.
How often should aerobic septic sprinklers go off?
Rotating sprinkler heads in aerobic drain fields should spray effluent across all sections evenly. Excessive spraying in one area overloads soils. Contact us if sprinklers run too frequently, not enough, or seem out of balance.
