Steady rain all day so no gardening activities. But I took pics of my anti-digging protections in my rear garden space, so now's a good time to share.

The first section of bed has the tinker-toy like pvc structure covered in insulation cloth held down with boards. The grills on top are to prevent an animal trying to walk across the top from immediately falling through and tearing the cloth.

The second bed has concrete mixing tubs inverted over the pepper plants, removed every morning.

The third bed has wire shelving over the tiny Chinese cabbages, some interior divider panels from wire dog crates and a random gold zigzag panel leaning up against the hardware cloth back to protect the tomatoes.

Fourth and final bed in that section has a thin strip of leftover hardware cloth over the green onions at the rear plus a wire display panel leaned over the kale elevated a bit by a landscaping timber. The inverted pot is over one of the kale plants because the panel isn't long enough, plus there's spiraled hardware cloth scrap in the side to keep an animal from just walking behind the panel.

The green wire fence panel in the right bed is a permanently installed trellis. The wire shelving and box fan grill are protecting the tomatoes and basil. There's a similar setup on the other side for tomatoes using baking cooling racks and a bicycle tire.

The strawberry bed dead ahead is mostly protected with burlap held down by brick papers and timbers. There are a few small grills over the sections in which I have sown nasturtium.

To the rear of the strawberry bed is a rack of earthboxes enclosed in wire dog crates. This area is partial shade so has the lettuce and chard and green onions and stuff.

The other rack of earthboxes. The ones on the ends are full of peppermint and don't really need protection. The other exposed box has green onions and chard and marigolds and is filled out enough that it seems to be okay. There's an inverted long pot over more tiny Chinese cabbage and celeriac seedlings. Wire shelving protects two pepper plants and more celeriac. Then I have wire hoops holding up insulation cloth over two earthboxes containing bok choy and Chinese broccoli (to exclude cabbage moths) with the foldable wire top from a small mammal cage to again prevent critters walking over the top from falling through.

The large teal pot on the ground to the left has a tomato cage that I wrap in folded over insulation cloth secured with binder clips at night. Once the African marigolds around the margin grow up a little, I should be able to stop using it.

Not pictured is the plastic tote I invert over the bulbs I planted in front of the shed, the wire wastebaskets and pots inverted and held down by bricks over the sunflower and celeriac seedlings in the front yard, and the baking cooling racks I have over all the window boxes and large pots that have seed sown in them.
