CLOUD COMPUTING: A CONCEPT OF NEW ERA FOR DATA SCIENCE

Cloud Computing is the most interesting and evolving topic in computing in the recent decade. The concept of storing data or accessing software from another computer that you are not aware of seems to be confusing to many users. Most the people/organizations that use cloud computing on their daily basis claim that they do not understand the subject of cloud computing. But the concept of cloud computing is not as confusing as it sounds. Cloud Computing is a type of service where the computer resources are sent over a network. In simple words, the concept of cloud computing can be compared to the electricity supply that we daily use. We do not have to bother how the electricity is made and transported to our houses or we do not have to worry from where the electricity is coming from, all we do is just use it. The ideology behind the cloud computing is also the same: People/organizations can simply use it. This concept is a huge and major development of the decade in computing.
Cloud computing is a service that is provided to the user who can sit in one location and remotely access the data or software or program applications from another location. Usually, this process is done with the use of a web browser over a network i.e., in most cases over the internet. Nowadays browsers and the internet are easily usable on almost all the devices that people are using these days. If the user wants to access a file in his device and does not have the necessary software to access that file, then the user would take the help of cloud computing to access that file with the help of the internet.
Cloud computing provide over hundreds and thousands of services and one of the most used services of cloud computing is the cloud storage. All these services are accessible to the public throughout the globe and they do not require to have the software on their devices. The general public can access and utilize these services from the cloud with the help of the internet. These services will be free to an extent and then later the users will be billed for further usage. Few of the well-known cloud services that are drop box, Sugar Sync, Amazon Cloud Drive, Google Docs etc.
Finally, that the use of cloud services is not guaranteed let it be because of the technical problems or because the services go out of business. The example they have used is about the Mega upload, a service that was banned and closed by the government of U.S and the FBI for their illegal file sharing allegations. And due to this, they had to delete all the files in their storage and due to which the customers cannot get their files back from the storage.
Service Models Cloud Software as a Service Use the provider's applications running on a cloud infrastructure Accessible from various client devices through thin client interface such as a web browser Consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud infrastructure including network, servers, operating systems, storage
Google Apps, Microsoft Office 365, Petrosoft, Onlive, GT Nexus, Marketo, Casengo, TradeCard, Rally Software, Salesforce, ExactTarget and CallidusCloud
Cloud Platform as a Service Cloud providers deliver a computing platform, typically including operating system, programming language execution environment, database, and web server Application developers can develop and run their software solutions on a cloud platform without the cost and complexity of buying and managing the underlying hardware and software layers
AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Force.com, Engine Yard, Mendix, OpenShift, Google App Engine, AppScale, Windows Azure Cloud Services, OrangeScape and Jelastic.
Cloud Infrastructure as a Service Cloud provider offers processing, storage, networks, and other fundamental computing resources Consumer is able to deploy and run arbitrary software, which can include operating systems and applications Amazon EC2, Google Compute Engine, HP Cloud, Joyent, Linode, NaviSite, Rackspace, Windows Azure, ReadySpace Cloud Services, and Internap Agile
Deployment Models Private Cloud: Cloud infrastructure is operated solely for an organization Community Cloud : Shared by several organizations and supports a specific community that has shared concerns Public Cloud: Cloud infrastructure is made available to the general public Hybrid Cloud: Cloud infrastructure is a composition of two or more clouds
Advantages of Cloud Computing • Improved performance • Better performance for large programs • Unlimited storage capacity and computing power • Reduced software costs • Universal document access • Just computer with internet connection is required • Instant software updates • No need to pay for or download an upgrade
Disadvantages of Cloud Computing • Requires a constant Internet connection • Does not work well with low-speed connections • Even with a fast connection, web-based applications can sometimes be slower than accessing a similar software program on your desktop PC • Everything about the program, from the interface to the current document, has to be sent back and forth from your computer to the computers in the cloud

Paas
Platform as a service (PaaS) : a cloud computing model which allows user to deliver applications over the Internet. In a this model, a cloud provider provides hardware ( like IaaS ) as well as software tools which are usually needed for development of required Application to its users. The hardware and software tools are provided as a Service.
PaaS provides us : OS , Runtime as well as middleware alongside benefits of IaaS. Thus PaaS frees users from maintaining these aspects of application and focus on development of the core app only.
Why choose PaaS :
Increase deployment speed & agility
Reduce length & complexity of app lifecycle
Prevent loss in revenue
Automate provisioning, management, and auto-scaling of applications and services on IaaS platform
Support continuous delivery
Reduce infrastructure operation costs
Automation of admin tasks
The Key Benefits of PaaS for Developers.
There’s no need to focus on provisioning, managing, or monitoring the compute, storage, network and software
Developers can create working prototypes in a matter of minutes.
Developers can create new versions or deploy new code more rapidly
Developers can self-assemble services to create integrated applications.
Developers can scale applications more elastically by starting more instances.
Developers don’t have to worry about underlying operating system and middleware security patches.
Developers can mitigate backup and recovery strategies, assuming the PaaS takes care of this.
conclusion
Common PaaS opensource distributions include CloudFoundry and Redhat OpenShift. Common PaaS vendors include Salesforce’s Force.com , IBM Bluemix , HP Helion , Pivotal Cloudfoundry . Selecting the perfect productivity apps relies on which tool sets your business would profit the most. Some services excel in time management, while others focus solely on collaboration or on specific tasks such as invoices. For most organizations, time management, collaborative effort, reminder tools, schedule changes, and staying connected to team members are valuable.

Custom mobile app development services benefit companies by meeting the demands of the current workforce. We've rounded up some great business apps and productivity apps, which can be a significant aspect of your team's software solution.

What can a Salesforce Developer offer to a Salesforce customer?
First, integrations with their existing on or off premise systems. Getting these integrations right the first time will save tons of time and hassle down the road. Second, the ability to extend the platform beyond what is possible through “declarative” or point-and-click development. This includes custom reporting, automating complicated aggregations and/or business processes. Salesforce vs ERP. What suits better for your business and development teams' needs?
With this article I start a series of publications with the purpose to explain some of the biggest system integration confusions that caused businesses to waste thousands of dollars on solutions that didn't match their initial expectations.
Confusion #1: Salesforce vs ERP. What is the main difference from the business implementation perspective?
Root cause:
On its website, Salesforce describes itself as "a customer relationship management solution that brings companies and customers together". ERP's (Enterprise Resource Planning) definition is "software that's is comprised of powerful and strategic business process management tools that can be used to manage information within an organization".
At first glance, it may seem that Salesforce is a bit "narrowed" solution. In reality, this is one of the most popular myths. Let me explain why in a simple way.
Salesforce is not a just a CRM as they describe themselves. Generally, Salesforce is an automated company's front end and ERP represents back end automation.
Many companies tend to integrate Salesforce with their own ERP systems. I find this complimentary approach to be the most effective. Indeed, SF offers multiple solutions for business tasks: Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Community Cloud, eCommerce Cloud, etc.
We also should remember that SF is also a platform "force.com" where by using a programming language (Apex) you can implement a wide range of functionalities. Many companies do this by including those solutions that were previously associated with ERP systems. There are multiple reasons and I will gladly elaborate a bit more going forward.
The key point here is to overcome a widely known stereotype that Salesforce is sort of a "narrowed" solution with no development space for a skillful developer.
Integration aspect:
SF is naturally more linked to the business than demonstrated by other competitors. For example, it is open for such technologies as IoT, AI. Nevertheless, in order to see it, you should be able to dig deeper into its subject related field. This could be one of the biggest potential challenges for your team.
The reason for this is some may think that SF provides a relatively low entrance level.
Confusion #2: Low entrance level. Apex is easy. Got familiar with Apex syntax? It may seem simple at first glance only. The thing is that while Java has acquired a large amount of frameworks already, Salesforce is just moving towards this direction. The complexity of SF development in Apex can be roughly compared to programming in JavaScript. However, if you still believe that JavaScript has a low entry point, then you absolutely right about Salesforce development entry point as well.
Advise to a key decision maker: prior to making a decision to proceed with either SF or ERP or both, request a thorough evaluation for: current goals, future expectations, development team capabilities and their appetite to work within the specified framework. As it turns out, the last aspect causes a huge amount of project overspending and launch delays

The Power of the Clouds Above - by Maurice Finley
The rise of cloud computing has reshaped jobs and businesses for the past decade, yet Forbes reported that over 80% of American had no idea what it was, with nearly 30% thinking it had to do with the weather. This blog explores the advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing.
Cloud computing is the delivery of computing services — from servers and storage to software and analytics (and much more) — over the Internet (referred to as “the cloud” because the internet was often drawn as a fluffy cloud in network diagrams). Cloud computing has many advantages (as well as reasons for a company to stay away from it) and comes in various forms, all of which I will to discuss in this blog post.
Many of today’s cloud computing services fall into three different categories, often called the “cloud computing stack” because each category builds on top of the previous one. The first is infrastructure as a service (IaaS) which refers to renting IT infrastructure. This includes servers and virtual machines, storage, networks, and operating systems. Examples of companies that use this service are Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Engine, etc.. The second category of service is platform as a service (PaaS) and refers to the services that supply an on-demand environment for developing, testing, deploying, and managing software. This service is especially important because it allows developers to create applications without having to worry about scaling and managing the underlying infrastructure. Heroku, Force.com, AWS Elastic Beanstalk are all companies that use this type of service. Lastly, software as a service (SaaS) refers to the method of delivering software applications over the Internet, on demand and typically on a subscription basis. The cloud providers host and manage the software as well as handle any maintenance like software upgrades and security patches. Users of the software applications connect over the Internet. Salesforce, G Suite, Cisco WebEx are notable companies that utilize the advantages of this category of cloud computing.
Cloud computing has many advantages to it, changing the ways that many businesses have thought about their IT resources. To understand the “revolution” it is important to look at the many advantages it gives businesses. Cloud computing saves companies a lot of money because it eliminates the expenses of: buying software, setting up and running data centers, electricity for power and cooling, and additional IT experts for managing these things. Cloud computing services are typically provided on demand and allow users to provision vast amounts of computing resources in minutes. This gives businesses a lot of flexibility and eliminates the pressure of capacity planning. With a vast majority of the IT management responsibilities being covered by the cloud, the IT teams can spend more time on more important responsibilities. The largest and most popular cloud computing services have a worldwide network of data centers equipped with the latest generation hardware, allowing faster network latencies. Cloud computing provider’s data centers backup data and have disaster recovery because they have the ability to store mirrored data at multiple sites of their network.
While looking at the many advantages of cloud computing, it may seem like the logical next step for many businesses today. However it is believed that only about 7% of enterprises have moved to the cloud. To understand why it is important to understand the disadvantages of the cloud. Because cloud computing services are internet based, access is fully independent on the ability to connect to them via the Internet. As with any hardware, the cloud service can fail at any time, which can be detrimental to many businesses. Using a cloud computing service adds additional risks to a business’s data being vulnerable to an attack, with not only the business having to make sure their side is secure, but also trusting that the cloud service is as well. Additional vulnerability is also added because of the ease of attacks through the internet. There have been many successful attacks on cloud services with the iCloud hack in 2014 being the most infamous. Lastly, many businesses are not particularly fond of sharing their proprietary information with companies like Amazon and Google.
