Mauro Forghieri ─ (13/01/1935 - 02/11/2022)
A pillar of motorsport and key of Ferrari's success.
He was witty, brutally honest, hardworking and a real quick thinker. With his incredible intelligence, he gifted us the best pieces of engineering and the most competitive Ferraris like the 312 B, the 312 B3-74 or the 312 T4. He worked along drivers of the likes of Chris Amon, Jacky Ickx, Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve and many many others. With him Scuderia Ferrari won 7 Constructors titles and 4 Drivers Championships. A real Ferrari legend that left its indelible mark in the history of Formula 1.

Gilles sits in his Ferrari 312 T4 sheltered under his umbrella as he speaks to Mauro // South African GP 🇿🇦, 1979.
“He wanted to race. Always. Everywhere.
You’d call him and he’d arrive from Monte Carlo, but he wouldn’t just park, no. First he’d do three doughnuts. That’s how he was.
I remember after qualifying at Anderstop in ‘78, in Sweden, we were in the car together. To reach the hotel we had to drive through a birch forest and of course he put on a kind of rally special stage: opposite lock all the way at 180 kph. I was scared stiff while he was smiling: “Isn’t ricking your neck on track enough ?” I screamed, but he kept on smiling: “This is me”, he replied. To make him stop I had threaten to wrench the key from the dashboard” ─ 'Gilles according to Forghieri'
