An old relic of Denver's industrial past—a Jackson Hay Press, still standing strong. The rust and craftsmanship tell a story of another time.

Close ups of the iron, chip breaker and cap for the Stanley No. G5 plane from my previous post. That silvery vertical rail is attached to the iron and is what serves as a guide to keep the iron straight. This plane is "self setting" while Sargent made the "autosetting" planes. #woodwork #woodworker #woodworking #woodworkersofinstagram #oldtools #stanleytools #stanleybedrock #antiquetoolrestoration #antiquetools #vintagetools #vintagetoolrestoration #handplane #handtools #raretools #toolshistory #forgottentools #collectabletools #collectables https://www.instagram.com/p/CCRrEytDnE9/?igshid=1mvjhwh08bptb

This is a Stanley No G5 "self setting" plane. One of two Gage Patent planes I ended up with at an auction a few years ago. John P. Gage patented this plane with the idea that it would eliminate the need for lateral adjustment levers. Stanley being Stanley and buying out the competition, bought out J.P. Gage in 1919 and made these planes until 1941. I hope to do a short video of the Gage planes and a side by side comparison to the standard Bailey planes when I get a chance to make videos again, before selling this one and the transitional one, hopefully together. #woodwork #woodworker #woodworking #woodworkersofinstagram #oldtools #stanleytools #stanleybedrock #antiquetoolrestoration #antiquetools #vintagetools #vintagetoolrestoration #handplane #handtools #raretools #toolshistory #forgottentools #collectabletools #collectables https://www.instagram.com/p/CCRqiOXjwMY/?igshid=bi75v13apa71
