How many times have you been thrown out of the Toto toilet museum in Fukuoka? I don't mean the showroom in Tokyo, any loud-mouthed moron can get pitched out on their ass by piping off to the salesman. It takes a true artisan to annoy the Glorious History of Pooping people enough that they decide to put you on the curb.
Usually, back home, this sort of thing would be accomplished with a poorly-maintained car. I'd roll up to the parking lot, and start arguing about some part that has dual purposes while my shitbox automobile diesels away in the parking lot. We'd bitch as the car slowly fills the air with blue as it stains the store's windows with the multitude of petrochemicals that used to – and still should – line the inside of the engine block. Eventually, the pressure of the argument would get to the person, and they'd deck me, or (better yet) call their manager to come and deck me.
Not so in Japan. They're much more polite, but realistically it's because I don't have my Volare with me. Why? They don't run so well underwater, internal combustion cars, and even the nastiest farm beater in this country is still in better shape than my finest automobile. Sure, there's a couple chickens living in this Honda Acty I found half-crushed underneath a decades-old mudslide, but they're busy eating the hornet nests in the back, so it all balances out. No, I got kicked out entirely on my own accord: by asking why the American Standard Champion Four can suck down an entire bucket of golf balls, but the $15,000 Toto Neorest 750H can't offer the same shit-devouring performance.
Bench racing, in my home country, is taken as sort of a laughable, joking kind of thing. You make fun of the other dude's Mustang, he shit-talks your Camaro, you both know in your heart that if you raced it would be pretty close. Then you can make excuses afterward. The sun was in my eyes. The shifter on these models is designed for comfort, not performance.
This kind of thing has not transferred to Japanese toilet manufacturing, let me tell you that. No sooner did I complete my insult of their Lamborghini-grade ultra-luxury toilet than a dude in a suit about twice my size picked me up with one hand, and carried me out of the museum and all the way to the airport without saying a word. I hope I haven't gotten banned from re-entry. I kind of liked that little van I was driving. Named all the chickens.
Over on Twitter, a Japanese fan noted that the park Kazuki and Rei are walking through at the end of Episode 9 is Seiryu Park in Nakasu, Fukuoka:
Here is Seiryu Park:
Here you can see that statue:
Since they are walking back from Miri’s daycare that means they live in the general area. Nakasu Ward is the red-light district of Fukuoka City. Now, in Episode 7, we saw Kazuki heading back to their place with a paper bag filled with groceries, and then he ran into Carol and Dorothy:
Since he was walking back from the store, it indicates (to me) that Rei’s apartment is likely located in Nakasu then. And that makes sense. They are hitmen, so living in the red-light district fits. We also know that Kyutaro’s café is in walking distance from their place, so it is likely located in Nakasu too, which also makes sense, since there are lots of shops and restaurants in that area.
But, this also makes Kazuki’s surprise at the amount of daycares and preschools in the nearby area also make a lot more sense:
He likely didn’t think that there would be any located next to or nearby where they live, since it is the red-light district, but there are a lot. I’m going to take a guess that that is because Nakasu Ward is next to Hakata Ward, which is where stuff like:
The government buildings,
Fukuoka Airport,
and Hakata Port are all located.
So Aozora and the other daycares are likely all located in that nearby (neighboring really) ward. That would be fitting and the most logical assumption to make.
I remember I mentioned how I thought that the first daycare that they went to in Episode 4 looked like a refurbished government building of some kind, so that guess probably wasn’t too far off, lol.
But yeah, it seems that Kazuki and Rei reside in Nakasu, the red-light district of Fukuoka City, which is really interesting. It puts a lot of things into perspective. Like this woman that Miri saw in Episode 5:
She is likely an adult entertainer of some kind (similar to Carol and Dorothy). Her outfit (lowcut tops that show cleavage aren’t common in Japan outside of the entertainment industry - adult or otherwise, it is more common for women to show off their legs more) and heavy makeup also imply this, so it would make sense that she would be in this area of the city.
Kazuki fear of some creeps getting Miri or her getting in harms way is an expected parental fear when a child goes missing, but even more so when the area they go missing in is essentially the red-light district.
Of course, I could be wrong on this. They could be locate in Hakata Ward. I’m not familiar enough with Fukuoka City to say any of the above with 100% certainty, but it would fit with their jobs and other narrative things we’ve seen. I’ll also be keeping an eye out for any further clues that can confirm (or deny) this more concretely in future episodes!
Also, if anyone has anything else to add to this post, please feel free to do so! :D
(I’ll link to the sources of the two Seiryu Park images in the comments below.)
"AIRPORT" is the most recent contribution to my Nishitetsu Group TV ad series artwork, featuring the iconic Fukuoka Airport☁✈☁
Keep a look out for the cat, who steals the show with its soft and discreet tail motions🐈
The fukuoka trip joke song... meme refs aside, love other parts where it literally resembles few frames from the isotope manga like this one
and also this one
I first thought the placement of rime's clip was a mistake from the illustrator, not knowing the hint of a foreshadowing sequel of minaminominami's joke song, literally her clip resembles the emblem of the city lol
the illustrator was too eager to draw rime and making rime as a fukuoka fangirl (the illustrator is also from fukuoka) when knowing rim is from fukuoka and speaks hakata dialect
some scenes from the mv includes real footage or povs of going to fukuoka airport, anything from fukuoka hahahaha
it became natural for rime holding a signpost ever since slavevvr's bus stop song, never thought they would include this
til you realized it's not just a joke song, but that seemed a funny character song for rime 🤣🤣🤣, like it screams "no one leaves fukuoka" or "fukuoka's the best place", cuz she's literally a fukuoka fangirl here
surprisingly, unlike kafu who loves curry udon, rime loves anything that comes from fukuoka--- rime likes fukuoka ramen 😯

Infiltrating the filming location of Yu Yu Hakusho Cast
Special photos of the cast taken by Maciej Kucia (AVGVST) will be released on December 14.
The main cast of the live-action will be on the special edition cover of the famous anan magazine. There's going to be a 16-page special feature about the live action, including exclusive photos and interviews with the cast and staff.
In solo interviews and roundtable discussions with the four main cast members, they were asked about their thoughts and feelings when they were chosen to appear in the series, behind-the-scenes stories of shooting, and their thoughts to take on the challenge of a work that has been loved for many years.
In addition to the four guys, anan also interviewed Go Ayano and Kenichi Takito, who play the Toguro Brothers, the biggest enemies who have many fans from the original work. They talk about the difficulties and joys of playing characters that required highly difficult acting as they filmed using CG.
In an interview with director Sho Tsukikawa , he was asked about his thoughts on producing "Yu Yu Hakusho" in this era.
Here's a sneak peek of the guys during the magazine cover shot.

It's so cute when they all start chanting: "Yu Yu Hakusho". At the end, Kanata Hongo says Hiei's famous line: do not underestimate the power of the evil eye.
Edit: Netflix Japan released special photos of the actors:
Yusuke Vs Younger Toguro Mural Showdown
"The showdown between Yusuke and Younger Toguro will break out in Shibuya!? Witness the spirit gun!"
I am curious to see that. From what we've seen from the trailer, Yusuke VS Toguro will be an epic confrontation!
Edit: The mural is at the Shibuya Crossing. They used blue lights to simulate Yusuke's spirit gun, and on the other side there's Toguro taking it!
Something else will happen in Shibuya?
Something will happen on the day of the live action premier...?
I am super curious. From this image, we can understand that all the ad-trucks that departed from Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka and Hakata will be arriving in Shibuya on the 14th, but what will happen? Some kind of big announcement? 😱
Edit: It was just a big promo at the Shibuya Crossing!
I've made the decision to stay here in Japan for at least another year, and I have a few goals to make me feel like I'm experiencing life here to the fullest. Some (most) of them are silly little goals that feel big because of the language barrier (exacerbated by my natural shyness), but some of them are more exciting goals for sure!
Get my hair cut
Take a ballet or other dance class
Get a library card
Have a 10-minute conversation with a native speaker in Japanese that's not an italki lesson
Make a new Japanese friend
Go to the dentist
Go to a prefecture I haven't been to before*
Sing a Japanese song at karaoke
Go skiing in Zao Onsen (or some other nearby resort)
Try to get a debit card
Be able to point to every prefecture on a map and name their capital cities**
*Prefectures I went to in 2023:
Tokyo
Aichi
Gifu (briefly)
Yamagata
Miyagi
Chiba (I'm not sure going to the airport counts as going somewhere tbh, but it looked very nice from the train window!)
Prefectures I'd like to/plan to visit in 2024
Hokkaido
Aomori
Osaka
Kyoto
Nara
I'm hoping to either do a little tour around Hokkaido/Tohoku in summer OR a little tour around Kansai in winter, depending on what time I can get off when and if I have to go back to the UK in that time. And I may go somewhere for a couple of days for Golden Week, but I've not decided.
**Prefectures I can currently point to on a map:
Hokkaido (capital: Sapporo ☑️)
Aomori (capital: Aomori ☑️)
Akita (capital: Akita ☑️)
Iwate (capital: Morioka ◻️)
Yamagata (capital: Yamagata ☑️)
Miyagi (capital: Sendai ☑️)
Fukushima (capital: Fukushima ☑️)
Niigata (capital: Niigata ◻️)
Chiba (capital: Chiba ☑️)
Okinawa (capital: Naha ◻️)
I also know the rough locations of: Gunma, Tokyo, Ibaraki, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Yamanashi, Saitama, Aichi, Gifu, Ishikawa, Nagano and Fukuoka
