Hi! How do you paint the beak/fur of your furbies? I've been looking to add freckles similar to yours on the beak and fur around my furby and I haven't been able to find a tutorial for it. Sorry if there's a post already on your blog! Thanks so much!
Hi there! I’m so sorry you had to wait so long for this reply! 🙏
I use a homemade dotting tool to make freckles on my Furbys’ plastic beaks 😊 and I just use a regular old pin to make freckles on the rubber beak of my 2005 Furby.
My homemade dotting tool is just a sewing pin stuck into the eraser of a regular ‘ole pencil
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just take a sewing pin and jam the pointy end into the eraser, then dip the pinhead end into paint and that’s it! You can control the size of the freckles by how deeply you press into the beak! One size fits all ✨
For rubber beaks it’s even easier: just use the pointy end of another sewing pin. Load the end of the pin with a generous amount of paint, like a blob, and then poke the pin into your Furby’s beak. This may look a bit painful for the Furb tho! And don’t worry about damage to the beak because any hole made by the pin with immediately fill up with the applied paint. Use smaller, more delicate “pinpricks” to make smaller freckles, and hopefully it will be quick and painless for your Furb!
Hope this helps!

hi! i found your blog through your furby tutorial and want to say thank you so much for making that. i do have a question though! i won an auction for a working '99 furby baby a couple days ago and he's not here yet but he'll be my first ever furby/robot pet in general. i was wondering if you had any tips or good information for first-time furby owners (especially furby babies, ik they're different) or possibly if your followers do too! i don't know a lot about furbies so anything is good, tysm!
congrats on your first furby! i dont know much about the babies specifically since i dont have one of my own but ive got a few general tips:
wash it! and i highly highly recommend you be thorough with it too. take the fur off and give it a good soak, and check inside the black casing for damage, dirt, anything. furby babies have been around a good 20 years now and theres no telling where all theyve been in that time
dont freak out too much if your furbs a bit glitchy or slow or doesnt seem to work at first. again, theyre 20 years old. the fandom has found fixes for most issues that the og furbies and furby babies are known to have. the tutorial masterpost has links to quite a few of those fixes but if youre ever unsure about anything people here are always happy to help!
idk if youre interested in customization at all but i highly recommend that! it can be something as small as changing the eyes or just dotting on some freckles. it makes the furb feel more personal i think
and finally! please post pics of your furb (if you want)! we love meeting new furbies and seeing what all they get up to :))
if anyone else out there has tips feel free to add on!

Hi hi! Any tips for anyone new to the furby fandom? I killed, sadly my old 2012 furby but I'm looking to get one from the 1990's (to customise) Any tips for someone like me or should I just jump right in? I love your art too btw! 💙💚💜
Hello and welcome! That’s sad to hear about your 2012, but fret not! If you still have them, and if you really want, they can still be a treasured companion. A lot of us have furbies that don’t quite work, but we love them all the same. And thank you so much for the compliment!!
As for beginner tips, the number one tip is to have fun! :>
On a more serious note, if you’re going to be customizing for the first time, I personally think it’s better to start a little slow. My first custom was just giving my dragon furby, Labradorite, some freckles. If you feel more confident, you can then try something a little bigger.
Here’s a super handy-dandy master post of furby customization and maintenance tutorials! I find these super helpful, and there’s a lot here, but if you can’t find something you need, don’t be afraid to ask someone for help! A lot of folks in the furby fandom are very helpful and supportive. ^^

hi! were apparently mutuals now !! i dont have a furby (yet) but ive been really fascinated by them and have been drawing them a bunch <3 anyway, can you talk a little ways about the different ways you can customize or accessorize furbies? (mostly for art and possibly for when/if i get one)-- Thx !1! <<33 =)))
Well sure!! First of all, welcome to the fandom!!! It’s always good to have new peeps who are truly interested in Furbys!!! I can’t wait to see your Furbys and what you do with them 🌟🌙❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 This will probably be a long post:
As for customization of my own Furbys, I first of all start with a kind of background story that I make up for each one of them, and that usually gives me inspiration for beginning to customize them. For instance, my first Furby was Noche, my black witch’s cat Furby who’s listing photos showed him as having a kind of groggy expression on his face inside of his original box, so I thought of him as being in a kind of stasis chamber making a journey to earth to be with me.
I was inspired also by looking at lots of Furbys here on Tumblr and seeing every way, shape, and form that others in the fandom were customizing their Furbys and it was super helpful! I really fell in love with freckles on Furby noses and eyelids, and I especially love when people add horns to their Furbys! I also love wings!! I’ve been wanting to add wings to my little twin 1999 Furby babies on the way…
I mainly cover my Furbys in crystals and glitter to go along with a specific mini story that I wrote here on my blog. I had a TON of random rhinestones and crystal beads left over from art projects from long ago, so I’ve been gluing them all over my Furbys. My purple-colored 2012 Furby (Saturn Mariposa) and my aqua-colored Furby Boom (Kappa) have the majority of crystals glued directly into their fur. I use Eileen’s Craft Glue and it really cements them to the fur (the beads are actually glued to the base of the fur, not the actual fur shafts themselves). Noche my 1998 witch’s cat Furby and Nikopol my 2005 black Furby have large holo/iridescent crystals glued to the centers of their foreheads. I have a completely non-working Orange 2012 Furby named Uranium Flea who I’ve completely covered in nearly an entire bottle of glow-in-the-dark acrylic paint, including his eyes, his light sensor and his ears. My black and white 1998 Furby (Nomi) has the most current customization that I’ve tried and that’s “dying” Furby hair and fur with thinned acrylic paint! There’s a tutorial here on my blog that you’re welcome to use if you’re interested in dying your own Furby hair and fur! (It only works on light colored fur though. I’ve tried it on black fur and I haven’t been able to get it to work for me). Pins, necklaces, hats, sweaters, shirts, and shoes are also popular ways to make your Furby stand out! I want to make a hoodie or two for my Furbs!
Customization of Furbys is endless! There’s so much you can do, but the best place to start in my opinion is take a good look at your Furby. You’ll start getting inspired very quickly and you may even start using things you wouldn’t have thought of before!
I can’t wait to see your first Furby! Welcome again to the fandom and happy customization!
