Undoubtedly, parents love their children the most, and children also have deep affection for their parents. Even when parents scold their children, it often reflects love. Therefore, it is the responsibility of parents to teach their children to distinguish between right and wrong, to prevent them from engaging in harmful activities, and to create a friendly environment so that children feel comfortable sharing anything with them.
A welfare organization in New York conducted a two-year study on nearly 3,000 students from high and primary schools. The international team of experts concluded that children who spend more time on mobile phones experience increased depression and anxiety, leading them to avoid social interactions and prefer isolation. Some medical experts also suggest that such children are more likely to develop neurological disorders. Similarly, children who spend excessive time on video games start to emotionally associate with the game characters, which can have harmful effects.
A friendly relationship between parents and children fosters self-confidence in children, making them prefer spending time at home and keeping them away from negative influences in society. However, in many cases, parents resort to scolding or punishing their children rather than explaining things with love and care, leading children to become stubborn and rebellious. As a result, they may form friendships outside the home, often with negative consequences, and become part of harmful environments from which it becomes difficult to return.
Although making friends is not inherently bad, there is no guarantee that a friend will have good character. Children are not mature enough to distinguish between good and bad friends, so they often adopt the habits of those around them.
In the modern era, the growing trend of mobile phones among children cannot be ignored. While mobile phones are necessary for business and employment, children have also adopted them as a necessity by observing adults. The downside is that children focus less on studies and more on mobile phones, spending their time on messaging and playing games. It is also observed that children form online friendships with people they don't know, which often leads to negative outcomes that parents ultimately have to deal with.
Although mobile phones are not inherently bad and can be beneficial when used positively, their excessive use affects children's eyesight and impacts their education. Parents send their children to school so they can learn to distinguish between right and wrong and become useful members of society, provided they apply the knowledge they acquire. Since children spend most of their time at home, it is primarily the parents' responsibility, not the teachers', to keep them away from negative influences, bad friends, and harmful activities.
However, the same awareness can lead children into harmful environments, making it essential for parents to exercise control for their children's better future.
Today's children are intelligent and aware of their surroundings, staying informed through various channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
One of the most powerful forces reshaping the roles of teachers and students in education today is new technology. The traditional model of instruction relied on information scarcity, where teachers and their books were the primary sources of knowledge. However, in today's world, information is abundant, available from countless print and electronic sources.
As a result, the fundamental role of teaching has shifted from merely distributing facts to helping students learn how to use this information. Teachers now focus on developing students' critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make informed judgments and create knowledge that benefits both the individual and society.
Freed from the responsibility of being primary information providers, teachers now have more time to engage in meaningful interactions with students, whether one-on-one or in small groups. However, this shift also requires a rethinking of the relationship between students and teachers, demanding changes in the structure of schools. While it remains common to isolate teachers in traditional classrooms with age-graded pupils rotating through classes, this model is being increasingly abandoned. Schools are now giving teachers the time, space, and support needed to fulfill their evolving roles.
Extended instructional periods, longer school days, and reorganized yearly schedules are being tested to avoid breaking learning into arbitrary segments. Many schools are also exploring mixed-age classes, where students spend multiple years with the same teachers, rather than grouping students inflexibly by age.
Additionally, the practice of ability grouping, which often traps students deemed less talented, is being challenged. Current standardized tests fail to measure many abilities or consider the diverse ways people learn, prompting a move towards more inclusive and adaptable teaching methods.
One of the most significant innovations in instructional organization is team teaching, where two or more educators share responsibility for a group of students. This approach allows teachers to apply their strengths, skills, and interests more effectively, ensuring that students benefit from a broader range of expertise. It also alleviates the pressure on individual teachers to be all things to all students.
Today, education is undergoing a dramatic transformation, driven by revolutions in knowledge, information technology, and public demand for better learning. Teachers are at the forefront of this change, rethinking every aspect of their profession—their relationships with students, colleagues, and the community; the tools and techniques they use; their rights and responsibilities; the curriculum's form and content; the standards they set; and how to assess those standards. In essence, teachers are reinventing themselves and their occupation to better serve schools and students.
CHALLENGES:
Modern teachers face numerous challenges that impact their ability to effectively educate and support their students.
Some of the key challenges include:
1.Behavior Management:
▪️Classroom Discipline: Managing classroom behavior and creating a positive learning environment amidst varied student behaviors and attitudes.
▪️Parental Involvement: Engaging with parents and guardians to support student behavior and academic progress, which can be challenging when parental involvement is limited.
2.Diverse Student Needs:
▪️Differentiated Instruction: Adapting teaching methods to cater to a wide range of learning styles, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.
▪️Special Education Needs: Supporting students with disabilities or special educational needs within a mainstream classroom setting.
▪️Language Barriers: Assisting students who are English language learners or come from non-English-speaking backgrounds.
3.Technology Integration and Overload:
▪️Keeping Up with Rapid Changes: Staying current with new educational technologies and integrating them effectively into the classroom.
▪️Screen Time Management: Balancing the use of digital tools with face-to-face interactions to ensure that technology enhances rather than detracts from learning.
▪️Digital Divide: Addressing disparities in technology access among students, which can affect equity in learning opportunities.
4.Mental Health and Well-being:

These challenges require modern teachers to be flexible, resilient, and resourceful. Despite these difficulties, many educators find innovative ways to overcome obstacles and continue to make a positive impact on their students’ lives.
A teacher’s moral integrity is essential for creating an effective and positive learning environment. By modeling ethical behavior and fairness, teachers build trust and respect with their students, fostering a classroom where respect and empathy thrive. Their strong moral compass helps them make fair decisions, handle sensitive issues appropriately, and maintain professional boundaries.
Additionally, by upholding honesty and academic integrity, teachers inspire students to develop their own values and behave ethically. In essence, a morally sound teacher not only enhances their teaching effectiveness but also plays a crucial role in shaping their students’ character and values.

MPox
On August 14, 2024, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared monkeypox, now referred to as Mpox, a global public health emergency. This declaration follows the rapid spread of the disease across 13 African countries, notably including Congo, where 14,000 cases and 524 deaths have been reported. This is the second time in three years that Mpox has reached such an emergency status.
Current Status and Spread
Mpox has been identified in at least 13 African countries, with over 96% of cases and deaths concentrated in Congo. New outbreaks have also been detected in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, linked to the epidemic in Congo. The number of cases has surged by 160% this year, with deaths increasing by 19%. A concerning factor in the current outbreak is the emergence of a new clade of the virus, which manifests with lesions on the genitals, complicating detection and facilitating unnoticed transmission.
Transmission and Symptoms
Monkeypox spreads through direct contact with infected individuals or contaminated objects, and can also be transmitted from animals to humans. Common symptoms include rash, fever, sore throat, headache, muscle aches, back pain, low energy, and swollen lymph nodes. Severe cases can lead to complications such as pneumonia, vision loss, sepsis, and, in extreme cases, death.
Global Response and WHO Actions
The WHO is actively working to contain the spread by supporting affected countries, providing resources for testing and treatment, and coordinating with partners such as the Africa CDC and NGOs. A regional response plan has been developed, requiring an initial $15 million, with $1.5 million already released from the WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies.
Situation in India
India reported its first case of monkeypox in 2022, and as of July 24, 2023, there have been 27 confirmed cases in the country, with cases reported in Kerala and Delhi.
Preventive Measures
To mitigate the risk of monkeypox, individuals should practice good hygiene, avoid close contact with symptomatic individuals, use personal protective equipment when caring for infected individuals, and avoid handling or consuming wild animals showing signs of illness.

Art is an essential part of human culture and has been used throughout history to express emotions, tell stories, and capture the beauty of the world around us. World Art Day celebrates the diversity of art and the role it plays in our lives.
This day provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of art and its impact on the society. It also recognizes the contributions of artists and their significant role in shaping our culture.
In observance of World Art Day, a special assembly was organised by the Art department of GD Goenka Public School Srinagar to remember some eminent artists and their contributions throughout the world.
Art Club students enlightened the audience about the importance of art and the impact it can create  in their lives.
A brief felicitation of the emerging Goenkan artists was also held during this special morning assembly in which students namely Hanan Sofi from grade 7, Aleeza Suhail and  Safa Javaid from grade 8 were felicitated by the school Principal Mr. Johnson PJ.
These students represented the school in different competitions held at State and National level which brought laurels to the school.
