This green cloak was first worn by Daye Hatun in the eighth episode of the second season of Magnificent Century. Three episodes later, it was worn again by Hatice Sultan. The cloak made another appearance on Nigar Kalfa in the ninth episode of the third season. The cloak was used three times in the fourth season, first on Fahriye Kalfa in the twelth episode, then on Gülbahar Kalfa in the fourteenth episode and lastly on Defne Sultan in the thirty-fourth episode.

Magnificent Century: Kösem saw the cloak on Mahfiruze Hatun in the sixth episode of the first season. The cloak also appeared twice in the second season, first on an unnamed harem member in the second epsiode and then on Meleki Hatun in the fourth episode.

It is also used on an unnamed harem member in the third episode of Mehmed The Conqueror (2018).

Unppopular characters I love

Nurbanu - People in the YouTube comments seem to hate her a lot more than she deserves 10/10

Nigar Kalfa - people don’t really talk her aside from on Tumblr but I think she’s cool 10/10

Şah Sultan - She’s so smart and iconic. Hürrem’s best rival. 9/10

Halime Sultan - Yes she did some incredibly messed up things. But she’s such a compelling character and she was in an incredibly perilous and risky position throughout much of S1. 7.5/10

Gülbahar Sultan - On the S2 rewatch I’m appreciating her a lot more. She’s such an interesting antagonist. 7.5/10

Viktoria - She deserved better and her arc is one of the best in season 1. Especially considering that it’s the one time the show actually makes the connection explicitly between military conquest and the harm that it causes. 7/10

Selim - Sure he did awful things but the show villainises him disproportionately in comparison to his crimes. I loved him and Nurbanu as a couple as well. And he, her and Hürrem were a capable trio when it came to making decisions. 6/10

Gracia Mendes - She deserved better.6/10

I’ll say it: Firuze was the only interesting concubine who was a rival to Hürrem. 6/10

Popular characters I hate

People in the YouTube comments seem to like Sultan Murad IV for some reason but I hate him. A tyrant who killed his own brothers, executed people left, right and centre and was also a self-righteous war criminal. Also he really bit the hand that fed him in his relationship with Kösem. 1/10

Barbarossa - A self-righteous war criminal. And we’re meant to like him. Somehow. 1/10

It is also worn by Mahidevran Sultan in the seventh episode of the second season before it returned to Gülfem Hatun in the third season. The cloak is also briefly seen on Gülbahar Kalfa in the thirty-fifth episode of the third season.

This yellow and orange striped dress is first worn by Nigar Kalfa in the first season of Magnificent Century. It appears again on Gülbahar Kalfa in the fourth season.

The neckline of the dress was altered to a V-neck, before the set was worn again by Fidan Kalfa in later episodes of the same season. Helena Hatun wears only the bolero jacket in the sixth episode of the third season, as does Gülbahar Kalfa in the first episode of the fourth season.

Your favorite and least favorite subplots in each season of MC and MCK?

Favourites

MC: Viktoria, Hürrem becoming more audacious in season 2B, Hürrem vs. Şah, the progress of Hürrem's friendships with Sümbül, Afife and Fahriye Kalfa, Hürrem becoming more mature, reflective and self-aware in season 4. Firuze would be here if her arc hadn't been ruined by the tattoo ex machina.

MC:K Halime and Safiye's arcs in season 1 was fascinating, Kösem vs. Gülbahar. Kösem vs. Hümaşah would have been handled better if the writers had leaned into the things that actually made Hümaşah cool.

Least favourites

MC: Isabella, Nazenin and the Decline and Fall of Nigar Kalfa. She deserved better

MC:K Ayşe vs. Farya.
