I wrote about the initial results with my #FluidNC #penplotter - progress! #100DaysToOffload

Today, I think I managed to mostly dial in the various settings for my plotter. Up until now, although the carriage moved fairly cleanly, there was a discrepancy in the dimensions that it was moving when I tried to send it any instructions. Once I’d figured out the X and Y movement, the next issue was getting the Z axis (an RC servo that moves the pen up and down at the end of the plotter arm)…

they still make and sell CNC machine controllers with black-and-white cathode tube screens... hundreds of thousand of them in fact in 2024. apparently because continuity and retrocompatibility with machines from the 1970s is the priority in designing those. and my first thought of course was, I'm going to exploit this fact so much for my star trek fic

cannot stop hyperfocusing on potential 3d printer upgrades and ideas today:

obviously I need the dual extruder kit now that I can print TPU and PLA, that unlocks so much potential

obviously I need the dual Z motor kit if I'm planning on upgrading the second extruder to be direct drive as well

if I'm that far along, how much harder could it be to fabricate a 2 filament into 1 hotend assembly

if I do that I might as well make both adaptor variants I can think of

if I'm able to dual extrude one material like that, could I mix PLA and TPU?
