I have no idea what’s going on. There’s something about Jenga and the loud paper sound effects. I recognized and heard some of their lines before but I clearly noticed one of Uguisumaru’s lines from his conversation with Ookanehira is slightly different. So I don’t know what he said. Where did this come from? Does anyone know?
Written for the TR English Wiki’s drabble event, but the long version! It actually started like this and then I trimmed it to the short version that is posted :)
Short version can be found here.
Title: Little Sparkle, Big Sparkle
Characters: Genji Banzai!, child!Saniwa
“Careful, Aruji,” Higekiri said, crouching down as he helped to light the sparkler held in their little hand.
“Anija!” Hizamaru said, rushing over to the two. “Let me, you might burn yourself.”
Higekiri smiles softly at his brother, watching as he uses one hand to hold the sparkler steady then lit it with his own, yellow colored one.
“Ah!” the small child said, their eyes growing wide as the sparkler came to life, giggling at the green colors that emanated from it.
Higekiri’s went out, then held out another which he held in his pocket. Hizamaru lit the new one without question, his sparkler glowing blue.
“Aww,” the small child pouted when their sparkler had gone out. “No more sparkles.”
“No, no more,” Higekiri said, taking the burnt stick and tossing it into the water bucket nearby. “But there will be sparkles up there!”
He picked up the child and had them sit on his shoulder, just in time for the first firework to set off in the sky.
“Wow! Big sparkle!”
Their laughs filled the night as they pointed out their favorite fireworks, then lit more sparklers that were hidden until it was late. Hizamaru picked up the tuckered out child, cradling them close to his chest as they walked back to the citadel, the child eventually falling asleep, gripping onto his yukata.
He carefully laid them down in her bed, pulling the blanket up to cover them.
Second semester started a few weeks ago and this is one of the first projects Ive started in my medai arts class: POP Art!!! I had so many choices as to who I wanted to do. As you can see from my brainstorm, I had quite a few ideas. I wanted to do Mamoru Miyano but Im already working on something about him for my visual arts so I crossed him out. It aas finally down to three people: Hizamaru, Higekiri (both from touken ranbu), and Keith Kogane (from Voltron). I had such a hard time picking that I had to let a spinner decide who I would do. The spinner landed on Hizamaru and I was settled. It took me very long to finish ome box, but now that I finished all 6, I feel accomplished and I actually reay like it!!! (Dont mind my rough sketch of keith, higekiri, and hizamaru. Its just a rough sketch, I cant draw for sht)
I am participating in the TR English Wiki’s drabble event on discord, and wanted to share this here with you :) There is also a long version that I will be posting (will most likely be doing this with all my entries due to the word requirement).
This is my first time writing Genji brothers, too. Gomene for any OOC-nes, but I hope you enjoy!

Higekiri smiles at his brother, watching as he lit the sparkler instead with his yellow one.
“Ah!” the small child said, eyes growing wide as the sparkler came to life.
Higekiri watched as Hizamaru and the child’s sparkler burned together.
“Aww.” They pouted when their sparkler had gone out. “No more sparkles.”

They pointed out their favorites, staying out until it was late. Hizamaru picked up the child, cradling them as they walked back home. The child fell asleep, gripping his yukata.
He laid them down, pulling the blanket up to cover them. “Oyasumi, Aruji.”
