Girlsville just dropped a Palestinian fundraiser album chock full of super raw DIY indie/punk (with some bonus bedroom electro pop) and all of it rocks. There's all the regular suspects (VIRVON VARVON, THE PRISTEENS, BECKY & THE POLITICIANS) plus a bunch a bunch of rad bands I didn't know about yet (CUT PIECE, GOLDEN STARLET). Get to it!

Girlsville Single Of The Year - Doechii feat Kodak Black- "What It Is (Block Boy)" (2023)

I don’t know how I missed this when it came out.  I’ve previously posted about so many of these bands.  I came across this after listening to the excellent Germ House “Spoiled Legacy +7″” cassette that is up for preorder from Girlsville (Portland).  I clicked through to “merch” and “Be Gay, Do Crime” was the first thing I saw.  This compilation features songs from mostly American bands from across the country.

Wow.  This starts off with an amazing song by Osees, and then weaves its way through hardcore, indie pop, post-punk and beyond.  Blues Lawyer, Gen Pop, Germ House (Rhode Island), Andrew Anderson (Proto Idiot), and Special Interest are just some of the highlights on this excellent compilation that benefits Prism Health in Portland, Oregon.

We got a pretty small stack, but it should be just enough for the true Medway heads out there, and we can confirm that this book is GREAT.

VA - Be Gay, Do Crime!

Be Gay, Do Crime!" is a GIrlsville benefit compilation for Prism Health in Portland, Oregon.

"Prism Health is committed to offering safe, compassionate, and affirming primary and mental health care to all members of the LGBTQ+ community."

The comp has new and exclusive music from bands like Osees, Gen Pop, Germ House, and UK Gold. Some stuff that had fallen out of print (The Primitives 2016 cover of "Been Hiding" by the The Aislers Set), some stuff never before in print (UV-TV, Hood Rats), and then some songs bands gave us just to be a part of it (Mr. & the Mrs., The Proletariat).
