GoChi Week 2023 - Day 2: Letters/Flowers
Days: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Title: The Secret Admirer Pairing: Goku/Chi-Chi; minor Bulma/Yamcha Characters: Son Goku, Chi-Chi, Bulma Briefs, Yamcha and Ox King Summary: A letter brings up the romantic side of Goku. Do not copy, repost, use it in any form or claim this work to be your own. Cross-posted on AO3
It was a typical winter day on West City. Valentine’s Day was just around the corner, which meant the halls from Orange Star High School were filled with pink and red hearts and other Valentine’s decorations. Goku sighed deeply when he got closer to his locker and saw the amount of boxes around it.
“I don’t get why you’re so annoyed with that.” Yamcha stated with a confused tone, as he tried to get near his own locker. “Most guys would love to be on your shoes right now.”
“I would gladly trade places, without even questioning it.” He opened his locker and a bunch of letters slipped down to the floor. “How the hell did these girls managed to push all these letters through my locker?!”
“You should never underestimate them. They are capable of anything.”
“Tell me about it.” Goku growled when he accidentally kicked one of the many boxes near his feet. He bent down and grabbed one that has a full-page picture of a brunette attached to it.
“So what are you going to do with all these presents?”
“Honestly? I have no idea.” He glanced at Yamcha and couldn’t help but laugh when he noticed he was nearly drooling at the photo. “Could you be less obvious?”
“What?” The long-haired man blinked a few times and shook his head.
“We were close to getting drowned here.” He teased and then handed the box to his friend. “Do you want to keep this one? Maybe you can get lucky.”
“You don’t want it?”
Just as Goku was about to answer, his eyes fell on a brunette girl walking down the hall. She was so distracted talking to Bulma that she wasn’t paying attention to anything or anyone else. His neck could have easily been broken due to how much it followed her around.
“Earth to Goku.” Yamcha waved his hand in front of his friend’s eyes, to get his attention.
“What?” The spiky haired man shook his head slightly. “Do you really want it? I mean…”
He glanced at the direction the two girls had gone and Yamcha followed him suit.
“Yeah, it’s better not to. Last thing I want is to piss Bulma off. It can often get pretty bad.”
“That’s true.”
****
“I can’t believe you’re not gonna give to him.” Bulma stated with astonishment as she and Chi-Chi headed to their class.
“Believe it or not, I’m not.”
“I don’t get it, you wrote it for nothing?”
“Did you see how many things there were in front of his locker? I don’t stand a chance.”
“Are you kidding me?” She shouted. “I guarantee the other girls don’t come anywhere near you.”
“I feel flattered, but I still don’t believe it.”
“Well, you should. I’ve seen the way he looks at you when you’re distracted.”
“It doesn’t matter, I’m still not giving it to him.”
“Okay, if that’s what you want.”
“It is.” Chi-Chi ended the conversation and the two girls headed to their seats in silence. ****
Bulma waited hidden for Chi-Chi to leave the dressing room after changing into her fighting outfit later that day. She sneaked in very slowly and went through her friend’s stuff to get the letter.
“I’m sorry, Chi-Chi. But you’ll thank me later.”
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Yamcha asked for what seemed to be the millionth time.
“Yes, I ‘m sure.” She replied firmly and with some annoyance. “If you don’t want to help me, that’s fine. But I can’t just stand here and do nothing to help my friend.”
“What happens when she finds out? She’s gonna be really pissed.”
“I can deal with it when the time comes. For now, let’s just put our plan into action.”
“Fine.”
“I knew you’d be part of this plan!” The bluenette exclaimed with excitement and threw her hands around his neck. “Before we know it, Goku and Chi-Chi will be in each other’s arms.”
“I hope you’re right.”
“Honey, I always am.” She said, full of confidence.
****
Chi-Chi was feeling rather uncomfortable with so many guys looking at her during martial arts class. She wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Much to her surprise, someone else seemed to have noticed her discomfort too.
“Hey, is everything okay?”
“Huh?” She looked at him with her eyebrows raised. “Yeah, yeah. Everything’s fine. I just don’t like being the center of the attention like this. For some reason, guys look down on women being fighters. Or they think it’s sexy, which is kinda disgusting in my opinion.”
“Hey, leave me out of this.”
“So you don’t think it’s sexy?”
Goku couldn’t help but think her tone almost sounded a little disappointed. “No, that’s not what I meant. Of course I think it’s… anyway, guys may look down on women who fight, but not me. I actually think it’s great.”
“Do you really?” Her face beamed in happiness after hearing what he said.
He couldn’t help but think she looked cute when she smiled like that. He automatically smiled back at her.
“Yes, I really do. Would you feel better if I told these guys to stop looking at you? Or I can just beat them up if you want.”
“It’s not necessary to beat them up.” She put her hands up between them, almost close to his chest. “Just telling them will be enough.”
“Alright.” He was slightly disappointed with her request, but tried his very best to hide it.
“Thank you.”
“Anytime.”
****
Goku and Yamcha made their way to the changing rooms after taking shower when martial arts classes were over for the day. The latter was feeling a little nervous about the letter his friend was about to find. He still didn’t have a good feeling about this.
“Some nice training today, huh?” The spiky-haired brunette asked while he dried his hair with a white towel.
“It surely was.” The other brunette tried to push his worries away and replied in the coolest tone possible. “Once again you couldn’t stay away from Chi-Chi.”
Goku couldn’t help but grin when he was nudged on the ribs by his friend. “You know me.”
“I sure do.” Yamcha very discreetly looked over his shoulder to see what his fellow martial arts friend was doing. He put on his best fake surprised face. “What’s this?”
“It’s a letter.” Goku flipped it around, looking for any signs that could tell him who it was from, but he couldn’t find anything.
“You don’t know who sent it?”
“No, there’s nothing in the envelope.” He didn’t bother hiding his frustration, though he was also full of hope it would be from Chi-Chi.
“So you got yourself a secret admirer, huh?”
“That seems like it.” With a sigh, he put the letter in his bag, flinging it on his shoulders right after. “Are you ready?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Yamcha quickly followed him out of the changing rooms. “I’m surprised you didn’t open the letter right away. It almost seemed like you weren’t too thrilled about it.”
“It’s probably from one of these girls who are desperately to have a boyfriend.” Goku shook his head and shrugged, keeping a very cool tone as he spoke. “I will open it when I get home.”
“I see.” He pressed his lips together. “Either way, I’m curious to know what you will think about it.”
“Really?” He spiky-haired boy looked at him with his eyebrows raised. “Why is that?”
“For no reason.” Yamcha began to panic and his eyes widened when he realized he almost gave himself and Bulma away. “I just want to know what’s in the letter.”
“Alright, I guess.”
****
Goku was lying on his bed chilling and staring at the ceiling when he remembered the letter was still in his bag. He jumped out of his bed and ran to it, returning to his previous position as soon as he grabbed the envelope. He carefully tore it open, so he wouldn’t accidentally rip the paper inside. Then he unfolded the paper and began to read its content. He didn’t remember seeing that handwriting anywhere before, but his heart still started beating faster on his chest. He couldn’t tell whether it was his wishful thinking or something else, but he was sure that handwriting belonged to the girl he had been crushing – sometimes not so subtly – for quite a while.
Hi, Goku!
I hope you forgive me for writing this letter, but I couldn’t find any other way to say what I wanted. In person would be an option, but I’m just not brave enough to do it. Anyway, maybe I should go straight to the point. Okay, so… I’ve been observing you these past few days… maybe admiring would be a more suitable word. Honestly, I don’t know what I intended to do with this letter… maybe just let you know I admire you? Well, either way, I hope you don’t feel embarrassed with it and my confused thoughts. I surely do, now that I’m reading it.
I guess I’ll see you around.
Your secret admirer.
Goku had a huge grin on his face by the time he finished reading the small confessional letter. But he didn’t find it embarrassing in the slightest. It was the opposite actually. He found it sweet. He folded the letter and put it back in the envelope. When he was about to put it away in a drawer, the scent of lilies invaded his nostrils and he shivered slightly. If there was any doubt Chi-Chi had written that letter, it was just gone. For the second time in less than fifteen minutes, Goku jumped out of his bed. This time, however, he rushed out of his house.
****
Chi-Chi was about to leave for school that morning. She yelled bye to her father and opened the front door of her house. Her eyes immediately fell on a single flower lying right in front of it. She bent down and picked it up, silently looking to her right and to her left for someone or something that could tell her who had put it there. But there was nothing.
“Chi-Chi?” The Ox King, her father, walked into the kitchen and saw her frozen on her spot. “Is something wrong?”
“Someone left a lily here.” She walked in again, grabbing a glass and filling it with water for the flower.
“A flower?” He asked while she turned around and put the glass in the center of their table. “It was just there?”
“That’s right.” Chi-Chi nodded and looked at the flower for a few more seconds before shaking her head and smiling. “Well, I should go to school or I’ll be late.”
“Alright. Have a good day, darling.”
“You too, dad.”
****
Chi-Chi was taken aback when she stopped in front of her locker and found another lily attached to its lock. She had just grabbed it when Bulma stopped beside her.
“Well, well, looks like someone’s got a secret admirer.”
“I’m sure that was an accident. Someone must have confused someone else’s locker with mine.”
“Do you really think so low of yourself? Why is it so hard for you to accept someone may have a crush on you?”
“That’s not…” She pressed her lips together, deciding not to argue with her friend. She may have a point. “Maybe you’re right.”
“I know I am.” Bulma bragged with a grin. “And looks like this person actually knows some of your tastes. Not everyone has lilies as their favorite flower.”
“It looks like it.” The brunette bit her lower lip as she placed the flower on her locker. She could only hope it wouldn’t die before she went home.
“Don’t you wanna know who sent it?”
“Of course I do, but apparently they don’t share the same thought.”
There was a bitter tone in Chi-Chi’s voice; almost like she was disappointed for some reason, but she couldn’t understand why. Or maybe she just didn’t want to admit it.
“It’s possible, but I think we both know who put it here.”
“And also who had left another one at my door earlier.”
“What?” Bulma asked, visibly surprised.
“I came across another lily when I left for school this morning. Whoever left it must know where I live.”
“That’s so sweet!”
“More like creepy.”
“Why must you ruin everything?”
“Come on, you have to admit it was a little creepy.”
“Well…” The blue haired girl had to agree with her friend. “So what are you going to do now?”
“Honestly? I have no idea.” Chi-Chi looked at her. “Wait and see if this boy will reveal himself eventually, I guess.”
****
“Why are there so many petals near your locker?” Yamcha couldn’t take his eyes off the floor while he and Goku went to grab their things to go home after class.
Goku didn’t say anything, he simply opened his own locker and showed him the bouquet of lilies inside it.
“What the…? Did you receive them from a girl?”
“Nope, I’m actually sending them to one.”
“Chi-Chi…” He said after he fully understood the situation. “What did she say about it?”
“Nothing yet. I didn’t tell her they were from mine, so she doesn’t know. At least I don’t think she does.”
“Chi-Chi is smart, she will figure out. If she hadn’t already.”
“That’s true.”
“So what are you going to do now?”
“Now it’s time to put the final part of my plan into action.”
****
Goku felt his heart pounding hard on his chest and began to get nervous with everyone glancing at the bouquet of flowers in his hand. He noticed a group of girls standing not far from her, undoubtedly wanting to know who was the lucky girl that would get the lilies. He prayed Chi-Chi didn’t take too long to walk out of school or that she was still inside. Otherwise he would make a fool out of himself.
The single lily swung smoothly under Chi-Chi’s grasp as she and Bulma left the school building and headed towards the exit. Her heart skipped a beat when she found another one in their path and she knelt down to pick it up.
“Whoever this guy is, he’s really good.” Bulma commented when her friend returned to her previous position.
“Maybe.” She couldn’t help but smell it. “I’m surprised no one took it, to be honest.”
“I guess not everyone likes lilies.”
“Yeah, that may be it.”
For some reason, Chi-Chi felt her heart racing as they got near the gate. She noticed there were more people around than usual that day, clearly waiting to see how things would unfold. As soon as she crossed the gate, she saw Goku from the corner of her eyes, standing on her left.
“Goku.” Her voice was barely a whisper as she watched him get near her. “So it was you all along.”
“That’s right.” He gave her one of his signature smiles and handed her the bouquet. “I heard lily is your favorite flower.”
“It is.” She smiled kindly and was surprised to see he had offered her his arm.
“May I take a beautiful girl home today?”
Chi-Chi felt her cheeks blush slightly, but still linked her free arm with his.

GoChi Week 2023 - Day 1: Flying Nimbus/Apples
Days: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Title: The Surprise Picnic Pairing: Goku/Chi-Chi Characters: Son Goku and Chi-Chi Summary: Goku comes up with a plan to cheer Chi-Chi up. Do not copy, repost, use it in any form or claim this work to be your own. Cross-posted on AO3
Goku jumped out of the flying nimbus and headed towards his house on Mount Paozu, after an intense and exhausting day of sparring with Vegeta at Capsule Corp. As usual, the smell of Chi-Chi’s food made his stomach automatically growl and he gave an awkward laugh.
“Hey, Chi-Chi.” He announced happily when he walked in. “I’m home.”
“Welcome home, honey.” She looked over her shoulder and smiled weakly at him.
“Dinner smells amazing as always. What are you making?”
“Ah, you know… fish.” She replied dully and continued making dinner, much to Goku’s surprise.
He tried to search for a moment in his mind where he might have gotten her upset, but couldn’t find anything. Still, he made a mental note about it. He just hoped he wouldn’t forget about it.
“Why don’t you go take a shower?” She looked at him, causing him to break from his trance. “You must be all sweaty.”
“Yeah, yeah.” He shook his head. “The sun was shining brightly, which only things worse.”
“It was a very hot day, indeed.” Chi-Chi said, still in her dully tone, and Goku thought it was best not to push his luck.
“I’ll be right down.”
“Alright.”
****
Goku stared up at the tree in front of him with a large smile. He was supposed to be in the shower at his house, but he sneaked out through the window of his bedroom. He knew Chi-Chi was going to be angry at him for that, but hoped she would understand it once she saw what he was preparing for her.
****
“Wow, Chi-Chi!” Goku leaned back on his chair and rubbed his belly, grinning. “That was delicious as always.”
“Thank you, Goku.” She replied with a little more excitement as she held her glass with both hands and drank a sip of her grape juice. “I’m glad you enjoy my food.”
“Are you kidding me?” He asked surprised, while trying to push down a mouthful of food. “I always enjoy your food.”
“Happy to hear that.” Chi-Chi smiled kindly and pushed her chair away. Then she started collecting some plates and making a small pile. Just as she was about to take it to the sink, Goku took it away from her hands and did it himself. “What are you doing?”
“I’m going to wash the dishes.”
“You what?!” She asked, shocked. “You’re going to wash the dishes?”
“That’s right.” He replied with a large grin. “Why don’t you get some rest then?”
“I can perfectly take care of it, Goku.” She pushed the chair away and stood up. “I don’t mind it.”
“I got this, Chi-Chi.” He walked to her and placed his hands on her shoulders, leading her towards the stairs; the large grin still on his face. “You work very hard everyday. You deserve a night off.”
“I… I…” She stopped talking and a smile appeared on her lips. “Okay, I’ll take this night off. Just make sure you don’t break anything.”
“Got it.” He gave her a smile and put the pile of dirty dishes on the sink.
Goku walked upstairs about an hour later, after he finished cleaning the kitchen. He also managed not to break anything. He knew Chi-Chi would be proud of him.
“The kitchen is cleaned.” He announced when he entered their bedroom, looking at his beautiful wife.
“I’m still surprised you offered to do it. You never volunteer to do housework.” Chi-Chi watched him change into his pajamas. Actually, just his shorts, as it was a warm night. She couldn’t help but stare at the pretty sight across her. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, honey.” He slid under the sheets and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, placing a tender kiss on her shoulder.
“Did something happen?” She rolled over to look into his black eyes. “Do you need anything?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I’m just curious and intrigued with this sudden behavior of yours.”
“I can assure you nothing happened and I don’t need anything.” He ran a hand over her bare arm and smiled. “I just thought I could help you.”
“You’re up to something.” She raised her eyebrows at him suspiciously and Goku started feeling tense. “But I’ll believe you.”
He exhaled deeply and felt his shoulders relax when she pressed her lips against his and then let her head rest on his bare chest.
“Good night, Goku.”
“Good night, Chi-Chi.” His hand landed on her waist again and he fell fast asleep.
****
Chi-Chi opened her eyes after hearing a faint thud noise, but she wasn’t sure whether it came from downstairs or it was something on her mind. She heard another one right away, and was sure it came from downstairs. She sat up on her bed, realizing that Goku was no longer by her side. She jumped out of it and headed downstairs, to see what he was up to.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning, Chi-Chi.” He looked over his shoulder and gave her a warm smile before returning to his task.
“What are you doing?” She tried to spy on his left, but he blocked her view.
“It’s a surprise.” It was all that he said, and he continued doing what he was doing.
“What?” She asked surprised. “What kind of surprise?”
“You will find out very soon.” He said simply, without looking away from his task. “For now, it’s still a surprise. You might want to get dressed, we are leaving soon.”
“Leaving?” Chi-Chi couldn’t stop being taken back with his mystery answers. “Where are we going?”
“Okay, enough with the questions.” He grabbed her shoulders and gently turned her around, guiding her towards the stairs again. “Now go get ready, we don’t want to be late.”
“Fine.” She said, defeated, and made her way to the second floor of the house.
****
The sun was shining bright and there were just a few clouds in the sky when they walked out about half an hour later. Chi-Chi couldn’t help but notice Goku was carrying a picnic basket, and she started connecting the dots.
“So where are you taking me for the picnic?”
“Huh?” Goku looked at her with his eyebrows raised, genuinely surprised.
“The basket.” She motioned it with her head and he looked down at it. “I knew you’d give it away eventually.”
“Ah, well…” He chuckled and scratched the back of his head. “I tried.”
“Well, if it makes it better, I found it cute.” She smiled at him and linked her arm with his.
“You did?”
“Absolutely.”
“I’m happy to hear that.” He looked up to the sky and cupped his mouth with his free hand. “Flying nimbus!”
It didn’t take long for the yellow fluffy cotton-like cloud to reach them, stopping right in front of Goku. He put the wooden basket over it before climbing on it and helping his wife right away. She motioned to sit behind him, like she usually does, but he placed her in front of him and wrapped his arms around her waist.
“What are you doing?”
“I figured you could sit in a different place today.”
Chi-Chi looked at him with a very suspicious expression. “You’ve been acting very strangely lately and I haven’t been able to figure out why yet.”
“I’m not acting strangely, Chi-Chi. I guarantee to you.” His voice came out alarmed, completely opposed to the impression he wanted to give her.
She opened her mouth to reply, but closed it again, deciding not to argue about it. She turned around and placed her hands over his instead.
“Are you ready?” He asked with his chin resting on her shoulder.
Chi-Chi took a few seconds to reply, as she was getting over her body slightly trembling at hearing his voice in her ear. “Y-Yeah, I’m ready.”
“Then let’s go. Let’s go, nimbus.” He gently patted on the golden cloud and it took off right away.
The woman stared down with a smile, watching the scenery below them. She couldn’t help but realize she’s not scared of looking down from the flying nimbus anymore, due to how much she had been doing with it Goku.
“Have you seen this view?” She looked at him with a large grin on her face. “It’s so pretty!”
“Yes, it is.” His grin was just as wide as hers, and he looked at her with a look of amusement in his eyes.
“I don’t think I can get enough of it.” She turned her focus back to beautiful landscape below and nearly fell off nimbus, had Goku not held her by the wrist as soon as he noticed it. She placed her palms against the softness of the cloud and sighed deeply a few times. “That was close.”
“Are you alright?”
“I am.” She smiled kindly at him. “Thank you for holding me.”
“You’re welcome.” He smiled back at her.
****
Chi-Chi couldn’t help but look around the open green area after jumping out of the flying nimbus. She turned to look at Goku, who was taking the picnic basket out of the fluffy cloud.
“I still can’t believe you planned a picnic for us.”
“You seemed so down the past few days, so I wanted to find a way to cheer you up. A picnic seemed like a good idea.”
“I loved it.” She reached for the bun behind her head and undid it, letting her long black hair fall over her shoulders.
Goku couldn’t help thinking she looked even prettier with them loose like that. “I’m glad you did. “Shall we eat?”
“That was so good!” Goku rubbed his full belly and lied down on the white towel spread over the green grass in the open area they were staying at.
“It really was.” Chi-Chi started collecting a few bowls near her and putting them in the wooden basket. After she was finished, she turned around to look at her husband and found him sleeping peacefully, with his hand behind his head. She couldn’t help but smile before lying down beside him, resting her head on his chest.
****
Chi-Chi woke up and slowly realized her head was rested against the hardness of the soil below her. She sat up and looked around, searching for Goku, but he was nowhere to be seen. So she stood up and walked further into the forest.
“Goku?” She cupped her mouth, so her voice would echo louder and was startled when he jumped from a tree, in front of her. She took a few steps back and fell to the ground. “Oh my God!”
“Hey, Chi-Chi.” He gave her an awkward laugh and rubbed the back of his head, in a true Goku style. Then he offered her his hand.
“You scared me! What were you doing on that tree?”
“I found something I want to show you.” He offered her his hand and helped her stand on her feet after she took it.
“Something you want to show me?” She asked. “What is it?”
“You need to come with me.” Goku curled his hand on her arm lightly. “Are you ready?”
“Goku, where are you going to take me?”
“You’ll find out in a few seconds.” He placed two fingers on his forehead and glanced at her. “This may be a little uncomfortable, but I promise it will be over soon.”
“Okay.” Chi-Chi tried to sound as steady as she could. Though she trusted her husband, she couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy with using instant transmission for the first time. “I’m ready.”
“Alright, here we go.”
“So this is where you were.” Chi-Chi swung her legs fast as she leaned over to look down to the ground, but just a little, so she wouldn’t fall off the tall trunk of the tree she was sitting at.
“That’s right.” Goku said, still focused on his current task of getting an apple a little above him.
“Honey, we had apples at home. You didn’t have to pick these up.” She looked at him as he sat beside her.
“That’s true, but then I wouldn’t be able to do this.” He grabbed a bright red apple from inside his gi and stretched his hand to her. “Here.”
“What?!” She blinked a few times before grabbing the fruit being offered to her. It was when it finally hit her. “That’s what you were planning all along.”
“Well…” The Saiyan chuckled, giving it all away. “You got me there.”
Chi-Chi smiled warmly before biting on her apple. “You never fail to surprise me sometimes.”
“I’ll take that as a good thing.” He couldn’t help but smile as well.
“It is.” She nodded and watched him eat a bite of his own apple from the corner of her eyes. She sighed deeply and brought hers towards her mouth.
Goku opened his mouth a couple of times to reply, but decided not to. Instead, he had come up with a better idea.
****
Chi-Chi was beginning to lose her temper. Ten minutes had gone by since Goku excused himself, saying he had to go to the bathroom, and hasn’t returned yet. She sat down in front of a tree and leaned against it, taking a few deep breaths to control her anger. She closed her eyes and was almost drifting to sleep when the smell of jasmine flowers filled her nostrils. She slowly opened them up and came across her husband standing in front of her.
“Goku!” She stood up, shouting with anger. “Where the hell were you? You left me alone here again!”
“I’m sorry, Chi-Chi. It was worth, I promise.” He replied with the largest of grins on his face.
“Why are you…” She stopped dead on her tracks when he revealed what he was hiding behind his back. It was a rather large bouquet of white jasmine flowers. “What are these?”
“Uh… flowers?”
“This I know.” She giggled for a moment. “Let me guess. You collected them because it was part of your plan too.”
“Not really. I came up with it now, actually.” He stretched his hand to her. “Take it.”
“T-Thanks.” Chi-Chi smiled and grabbed it, holding it close to her body and smelling the beautiful flowers. “It must’ve been some trouble for you to collect them.”
“Not at all.” Goku shook his head. “I know they are your favorite ones and I wanted to cheer you up and make you happy.”
“G-Goku.” She lowered her hand and placed her free one over her heart before leaning over and letting her forehead touch his chest.
****
The sun setting on the horizon and the golden tones mixed with red and orange in the sky made it look like a beautiful painting, as Goku couldn’t help but think while he and Chi-Chi returned home after spending the day out together. She had her body leaned against his, and he breathed in her sweet scent.
“Thank you for today.” She spoke softly and tilted her body to her right, so she could look into his black eyes. “I really enjoyed it.”
“You’re welcome, Chi-Chi.” He replied with a smile. “I’m glad you did.”
“For the record, it did cheer me up and make me happy.”
“I’m happy to hear that.” The Saiyan kissed the top of her head softly. “It’s a very beautiful landscape, isn’t it?”
“It really is.” She glanced at the horizon for a second and then back at him. She placed her left hand on his left cheek. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Chi-Chi.”
He slid his hand to the back of her head and pulled her towards him. It didn’t take him long to meet her lips in a sweet and tender kiss.
“Chi-Chi?”
“What is it?” Her voice was barely a whisper when they pulled away from each other.
“How about some ice-cream now?”

GoChi Week 2023 - Day 3: Sunshine/Summer
Days: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
Title: Beach Day Pairing: Goku/Chi-Chi; minor Gohan/Videl Characters: Son Goku, Chi-Chi, Son Gohan, Son Goten, Son Misaki, Videl and Pan Summary: The Son family enjoys a weekend at the beach. Do not copy, repost, use it in any form or claim this work to be your own. Cross-posted on AO3
Misaki jumped out of her bed very early that morning and ran towards Goten’s bedroom. She didn’t even bother knocking on his door; she just stormed in and jumped on his bed.
“Ten! Ten!” She pulled his blanket away and started shaking him up. “Come on, wake up!”
“What the hell are you doing, Saki?” He pushed her away and covered himself up again.
“No, you need to wake up!” She pulled it off again and the two siblings started a small fight. “We… are… going… to… the… beach!”
“I know. But we still don’t need to wake up so early.” He tried to give one more push on his blanket, but Misaki was faster.
“You’re such a pain sometimes.” He mumbled with annoyance and jumped out of his bed.
“I love you too, Ten!”
An hour later, the smell of breakfast filled the Son residence. By that time, everyone was awake. Misaki and Goten were preparing the food while Chi-Chi and Goku were packing their bag for the day.
“Is Trunks really gonna be there?” The teenager asked, trying her best to hide her hope but failing.
“That’s what he said, but listen… don’t get too hopeful about him.”
“What do you mean?”
But before he could answer, – much to his happiness – Goku and Chi-Chi walked in the kitchen.
“Good morning, my babies.”
“Mom, please, we’re teenagers.” Misaki rolled her eyes, but gave a small smile.
“Why must you be so annoying, Saki?” Goten defended their mother.
“Shut up.” She nudged him on the ribs. “Mom knows I didn’t mean it, right, mom?”
“Right.”
“What do we have for breakfast?” Goku looked from his youngest child to his wife and back and found it better to say something.
“Ten made some pancakes.” The girl replied as she watched her brother put a plate with a large pile of them on the table, and laughed when her father grabbed one right away.
“I don’t mean to brag, but they are amazing.”
“They really are.” The oldest Saiyan said, with his mouth full of food.
“Goku, you shouldn’t talk with a full mouth.” Chi-Chi called him out.
“I can’t help it.” He said apologetically, still with pancakes in his mouth.
“Some things never change.” She shook her head with a light smile and sat on a chair.
The two men followed her suit and Misaki put a teapot in the center of the table before doing the same.
****
The weather was very nice that morning, and the sun was already shining bright by the time the family walked out of the Son residence and head to the beach.
“Goku, can you help me with this?”
“Sure.” He walked to the trunk of their car and grabbed two of the many bags they had brought. “Geez, Misaki sure brings a lot of luggage.”
“Dad, these are all my essential items for a trip.”
“We are only staying for the weekend. I can’t imagine what you would take if you were traveling for a couple of weeks.”
“She would take our whole house, for sure.”
“Shut up!” Misaki lightly slapped Goten in the arm. “And help me carry my stuff.”
“You slap me and expect me to help you?”
“Don’t be such a baby.” She rolled her eyes with fake annoyance. “It barely hurt you.”
“Still, you shouldn’t hit your older brother.”
“I’m sorry, Ten.” She kissed him on the cheek. “Now will you help me?”
“Wow, that didn’t sound genuine at all.” He laughed. “But I will help you because I’m nice.”
“Of course you are.”
“Shut up!”
Chi-Chi smiled seeing the beach house full of people a couple of hours later, but for her the joy of the weekend was her two-year granddaughter, Pan. She absolutely loved the relationship between her and Goku. Even though she was really young, she already possessed a great power and loved sparring with her grandpa.
“She really inherited the Son blood. You can tell how much she loves to fight at such a young age.”
“Not only our blood.” Gohan corrected his mother. “The Satan’s too.”
“Of course. Sometimes I forget they are a family of fighters too.” She bent forward to look at her daughter-in-law. “I’m sorry, Videl.”
“It’s alright, Chi-Chi.” Videl smiled kindly at her. “I haven’t fought in a while, and my father… well…”
Gohan put his hand on her shoulder and gave it a light squeeze. The young couple exchanged smiles before Pan came running to them.
“Mommy, thirsty.”
Videl grabbed a plastic baby bottle full of water in her green bag and handed it to her daughter, who drank the whole liquid in less than a minute. She had definitely inherited the Son genes.
“More.”
“I’m sorry, Pan, but that was the only bottle of water I have with me.”
“I can take her back to the house, if you want.” Chi-Chi suggested.
“Are you sure, mom?” Gohan asked over Videl’s head. “Cause I really don’t mind doing it.”
“Yes, I’m sure.” She stood up and stretched her arm towards her granddaughter. “I’d love to spend some time with my lovely Pan. Don’t you, darling?”
The little girl nodded with enthusiasm, but instead of grabbing her grandma’s hand, she stretched both her little arms towards her, clearly wanting to be picked up. The brunette woman bent down and picked her up.
“You two enjoy the beach, we’ll be back soon.”
“Thanks, mom.”
“Where are they going?”
“Pan wanted more water, but we ran out of it. So mom took her to the house to give her some more.”
“I see.” He scratched the back of his neck and looked in the direction they had left minutes ago. “I… uh… I’m going to take a nap.”
“I’m sorry to say this, but your father is a terrible liar.”
“He always has been, so you don’t have to be sorry. It’s a fact.” Gohan couldn’t help but laugh.
“Pan, if you keep drinking so much water, you’ll be going to the bathroom a lot.” An eye-widened Chi-Chi said after handing her granddaughter her fifth glass of water in a row.
“More, grandma.” The little girl said after drinking it.
“The Saiyan genes.” She rolled her eyes, but filled her glass one more time anyway.
“We do have some good ones.” Goku joked with a grin when he walked in.
“Goku? What are you doing here?”
“I just came up with this idea.”
“What idea?” She raised her eyebrows at him, clearly intrigued with what he was about to say next.
“You will find out pretty soon.” He reached out for her hand and led her and Pan out of the house. “Let’s go.”
“Goku, I don’t think this is a good idea.” Chi-Chi said unsure after Goku told her his plan. “She’s too little for that.”
“Everything will be fine, we’ll be with her.”
“Still, it’s dangerous.”
“Grandpa, what is this thing called nimbus again?” Pan tugged on his shorts and he looked down at her.
“It’s the coolest thing ever, you’ll find out in a few seconds.” He picked her up and placed her on his shoulder. “Now can you help me call it?”
“Call it? How?”
“By whistling, like this.” Goku placed two fingers inside his mouth and a whistle came through his lips. A couple of seconds later, he called for nimbus and the fluffy golden cloud came to them.
“Soft!” The child bent forward with her tiny arms stretched, eagerly trying to touch Nimbus, 22/08 and almost fell down from her grandpa’s shoulders.
“Oops!” He caught her in the air and put her on Nimbus.
Pan started squealing and screaming when she felt the texture of the golden cloud beneath and the soft noise it made as it waited for Goku’s instructions. “Grandma, come.” She stretched her arms towards Chi-Chi, signalizing for her to join her.
“Yeah, grandma, come.” Goku teased and then glanced at his wife with a mischievous look.
She gave him a death glare as she passed by him and sat on Nimbus, placing Pan on her lap.
“Grandpa, are we doing this or what?” She didn’t bother hiding the annoyance in his voice, but she knew he knew it was just a fake one.
“Of course.” He proceeded to sit in front of them, with his legs crossed. He looked over his shoulder towards them. “Are you ready?”
“Yes!” Pan said excitedly and pumped her fist in the air. “Let’s go!”
Pan was delighted with the view below. She had a large grin on her face and her eyes were sparkling with happiness.
“Grandma, look!” She looked at Chi-Chi in awe and then back down. She had leaned towards the cloud so much that the woman had to hold her tight, so she wouldn’t fall. “It’s so pretty!”
“Yes, it is.” There was a nostalgic tone in her voice, which attracted Pan’s attention again. “It takes me back to my young days.”
“Have you rode it before, grandma?”
“I did.” Chi-Chi confirmed. “When your grandpa were kids, that’s how we used to travel around.”
“So this is a very old cloud.”
“Clouds don’t age.” Goku said after laughing. “But Chi-Chi is right, we used to travel around on it.”
“Daddy too?”
“That’s right. And uncle Goten and aunt Misaki too. They all loved riding it.”
“Grandpa?”
“Yes, Pan.”
“Do you think I can ride it alone one day?”
“Sure you can, when you’re old enough for it.”
“Ah, that’s gonna be years from now.” She crossed her arms and pouted.
“I’m afraid so, but in the meantime you can ride it with us whenever you can.” Chi-Chi said with a gentle smile.
“Really?”
“Of course!” Goku replied, looking over his shoulder.
“Thank you, grandpa!” She jumped on his back and wrapped her tiny arms around his neck, to Chi-Chi’s despair.
“Don’t scare me like that, Pan. You could’ve fallen from this cloud.”
“I’m sorry, grandma.” Pan returned to her previous position and crossed her legs, but didn’t stay much longer there.
****
Misaki was sitting on a small wall that separated the sidewalk from the beach, swinging her legs calmly. It was quite a contrast to how she was feeling inside, seeing Trunks with Fayra having fun together.
“Hey.”
“Hi.”
“I’m sorry for this.” Goten sat beside her and looked at his best friend and his girlfriend. “I know this isn’t easy for you.”
“Ah, well…” She bit her lower lip and put a lock of her long black hair behind her ear. “You can’t have anything, right? He doesn’t know I have feelings for him, so…”
“That’s true, but it still hurts.”
“It does.” Misaki sighed. “But I’ll be okay. It was better for it to happen right now than in the future, if something happened. But I doubt he’d look at me like this.”
“Don’t say that. You’re beautiful too. In fact, you’re more beautiful than her.”
“Did you really say that?” She turned to look at her brother with widened eyes. “I think I did. So cherish it, it doesn’t happen that often.”
“Why must you ruin every moment?” She slapped him in the arm in a playful way.
“It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t do that.” He joked and laughed. Then he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, and she rested her head on his. “Are you better?”
“I will be within time.”
“If it makes you feel any better, I think it’s his loss.”
“Thank you, Ten.” She gave him a soft smile and placed her hand over his on her shoulder. “It means a lot.”
“Auntie Saki.” Pan stopped in front of her and looked up, with curious eyes. “Are you crying?”
“No, I…” Misaki wiped the tears from her eyes. “There was just something in my eyes.”
“Yes, she was.” Goten told the truth and received a death glare from his younger sister. “Sorry, Saki, but you can’t really lie to your niece.”
“Auntie Saki, I know something that can cheer you up.” The little girl flew up and landed on her legs.
“Really? What is it?”
“We should take a ride on nimbus.”
“What?”
“But Pan, you just came out of one.”
“Can’t I ride it again with auntie Misaki?” She looked at Chi-Chi over her shoulder with pleading eyes. “She needs it.”
“Of course it’s okay, Pan.” Goku said with his usual grin.
“Goku, shouldn’t we ask Gohan and Videl first?”
“She won’t be riding it with a stranger, Chi-Chi, it’s her aunt. Besides, I don’t think they’re going too far from here.”
“I guess you’re right. Just don’t take too long to come back.”
“We won’t.”
****
The sea breeze messed up Chi-Chi’s long black hair and she softly put a lock behind her ear. The sun was setting in the horizon, and the sky was colored in yellow, orange and red tones. Seconds later, Goku sat beside her and handed her a strawberry popsicle, while he finished a grape one.
“It’s a beautiful sunset, isn’t it?” He asked, mesmerized by the beautiful scenario across him.
“It really is.” She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes, feeling more relaxed. “It’s been a fun weekend.”
“For sure. The weather really helped.” He saw her lifting her head and raised his eyebrows when she looked at him intensely. “What?”
“I’m just thinking I’m very lucky for finding you.”
“I’m just as lucky.”
Chi-Chi turned to look at the sun setting again and was surprised by Goku’s hand on her left cheek. He gently turned her face to him and looked right into her beautiful black eyes for a moment. Her heart started beating faster as their faces got closer to each other and she automatically closed her eyes. She moved to find a better angle seconds later after their lips touched and couldn’t help but think the scenario made that moment even more perfect. They broke away after some minutes and touched foreheads. A warm smile appeared on Chi-Chi’s lips and he found himself smiling too.
“I love you.” The words came out of his lips in such a natural way. He decided to embrace how he felt a long time ago.
“I love you too.” She replied in a soft tone and shivered a little when he caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers.
“Grandpa!” Pan came running and jumped on his back. “Piggyback ride!”
“Panny, you’re ruining their moment.”
“Huh?” She looked at Misaki with confusion in her face.
“She didn’t ruin anything.” Chi-Chi placed Pan over Goku’s shoulders and helped him stand up, laughing at her pretending to be riding a horse. “Let’s go home.”
