Some Supporting Cast

So basically, my original idea for the story was "lol what if we turned a prince into a pirate". As such, I concocted a crew of particularly scrunkly Mario characters with a rough and tumble social dynamic for Peasley to navigate, hitting basically every pirate trope under the sun in the process.

I also started sketching out the story's big bad, but really only managed to figure her out from the neck up. I don't think she quite fits with the other characters, but I was heavily referencing Luigi's Mansion ghosts and Frozen concept art with my design, and I think it lends her an extra air of menace.

I'll start posting character bios as they get introduced in the story, but there's some half-assed sketches and a couple flat colors beneath the cut.

“Westworld” star Ben Barnes will be playing Private Goomberto Castaña. In a statement earlier today, Barnes announced he was “excited to take on the role of Goombert.... Although I’m kind of confused why he has arms when his sister doesn’t. Aren’t all goombas supposed to be armless? Also, what’s with the ghost stuff in his bio??”

“Twilight” actress Ashley Greene will be playing his sister Goombrianna. Although the actress is in her 30s, she has experience playing characters much younger than herself, and she feels more than ready to play the sprightly 11 year old. Plus, the big challenge for Greene is going to be acting with her arms bound in green screen material in order to create the illusion of psychic Goombrianna’s armless form.

“Grey’s Anatomy” and “Knocked Up” star Kathryn Heigl will be taking on the role of Goombella Jones, an archaeology student from the University of Goomb who accompanies Mario on his journey throughout the land. Heigl has revealed that she is relieved Bella’s design has recently changed and that she will not need to worry about the green screen arm effects herself. We got to hand it to her, the timing for this role is just right for Heigl!
