Green Cards Might Become Available for Immediate Relatives of Legal Permanent Residents As predicted, for a period of two months, spouses and minor unmarried children of U.S. Legal Permanent Residents (LPR) may become equal to relatives of the U.S. Citizens for purposes of filing of immigrant petitions, meaning that they would be allowed to apply for a green card at the time the underlying Alien Relative Petition is filed. The Visa Bulletin for July 2019, confirms this, showing the priority date for the F-2A Category as current as of March 8, 2019. If you are a green card holder, you are now able now to sponsor your spouse and children for lawful permanent resident status without waiting for an approval of Alien Relative Petition first. Also, if you are a green card holder who is thinking about getting married, this may be the perfect time to do so. For those immediate relatives of LPR, who are currently overseas and who already have approvals for Alien Relative Petitions, NVC may open cases so that they can obtain immigrant visas through the consulate. Medical Check Up for US Immigrants at St. Luke’s Extension

If you’ve read my previous post, it really took 12 years for us to receive our notice from the NVC that the US Embassy interview date is set for my brother, his three kids and myself. An email was sent in each of our email addresses the week before the holy week in the Philippines, exactly on April 11, 2019. I was at a friend’s house because there was a scheduled power in our town and my friend took pity on me since she is aware, I work from home.

My sister, Gisselle Anne, was the one who notified me that I received an email and immediately checked my inbox and researched on things to do when an interview was scheduled for F2B applicants. 

First step: Go to St Luke’s Medical Center Extension Clinic Ermita website at https://slec.ph/ to set an appointment at https://slec.ph/us/registration/.  All US applicants must undergo the medical check-up at St. Lukes Extension Clinic because they are the only medical center authorized by the US government/ embassy in the Philippines.

Note: For a senior citizen, the front door is where you can fall in line. You will be prioritized. Applicants with or without kids will have to fall in line at the side gate of the building, beside the wall on the left side when u are facing the building. I had a not so pleasant experience. We were there second and we were in front of the entrance of the clinic but was redirected to the left side of the building where it was very dark. We saw several people in line even if we were the first they didn’t give way. One elder lady even said “so what if your first, you were at the wrong place to fall in line” so yeah rather than argue and ruin my day, I sat there and swallowed my pride while uttering “be the better person”

Things to bring with you to your medical:

1.  Interview Letter from the National Visa Center (NVC) or Visa Interview Appointment Confirmation from the embassy or the Appointment Confirmation from the call center.

- Principal Applicant: Original and 1 Photocopy

-Derivatives: 1 photocopy each

* If you have a printer at home, just print them all up.

2. Valid Passport

3. 1 Photocopy of the Passport Biographic/ Data Page, the page where your photo is located and other data like the passport number, where and when was your passport issued etc. Photocopy must be the same size as the passport size. Do not enlarge or reduce size.

4. 4 pieces of recent 2x2 visa photos. 3 will be submitted to the US Embassy, 1 will be for clinic file. All photos must be identical. Write the applicant’s name at the back of the photo. Remember NO smiling, NO showing of teeth, NO jewelry like earrings and such. 

Note: Bring more photos JUST IN CASE.

Here is the Visa Photo Guide:

5.1 For applicants who registered online, 1 copy of the duly completed online registration form.

5.2 For Applicants who did not register online, you are required to provide the name, address (including City, State, and Zip Code), Contact number and email address of your petitioner in the USA.

7. Minor (17 years old and below) must be accompanied by their parent or by a legal guarding who has a thorough knowledge of the medical history of the Kid/s.

The Parent or legal guardian must present a government-issued ID (original and 2 photocopies)

In case the companion is not the legal guardian, the following documents is needed to be presented:

a. Letter of Authorization or Special Power of Attorney stating that the companion is authorized to sign on behalf of the parent.

b. 2 photocopies of the Parent’s government-issued ID.

c. Authorized companion’s government-issued ID, original and 2 photocopies.

8. Additional documents

Medical Examination Requirements:

1. Physical Examination- it is required for all applicants, regardless of age

2. Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) Test- Required for applicants 2-14 years of age.

Remember: 

Time of Collection: BEFORE 12nn of the first day, the result will be given at 2pm the next day (second day of the medical); If the time of collection on the first day is AFTER 12nn, the result will be released at 2pm the day after the second day (on the 3rd day). 

Suggestion: Come early so that children 2-14 y/o will undergo the IGRA before 12nn on the first day. Plus you might be finished by early on the first day.

3. Chest X-ray (CXR)- are required for all adult applicants aged 15 and above or children who were exposed to Tuberculosis cases or with history of TB disease (Primary Complex).

4. Syphilis Test- required for applicants 15 years old and above

5. Gonorrhea Test- Required for applicants 15 years old and above.

Reminders:

Applicants must take their meals prior to coming over for their medical exam for food is not allowed within the clinic premises. All the initial blood and urine tests to be done at the clinic, do not require a fasting state.

According to St Luke’s website “Immigration law and CDC requires vaccination with age-appropriate vaccines. This includes live vaccines which may cause birth defects/ deformities when given to pregnant or childbearing women who may become pregnant within 4 weeks from receipt of the said vaccines. Additional vaccines are also given when medically indicated or withheld when contraindicated.”

The fee is inclusive of Inter-specialty consultations, vaccines, Chest Xray, IGRA test, and all the test mentioned above. However, Psychiatric evaluations, referrals to sub-specialty clinics outside St. Lukes shall be charged separately with the expenses to be paid by the applicant (For Psychiatric Evaluation: its 2500 pesos, if I am not mistaken).

NOTE: St. Lukes Medical Center Extension Clinic does not accept cheque or credit card payments...only cash.

NOTE: 

Medical results and documents like laboratory results, physical exam results, Xrays, will be released in accordance with the set guidelines of the US Department of State, the US Embassy and the Center for Disease and Control and Prevention. The medical report and visa photographs are submitted by the St. Luke’s Medical Center directly to the US Embassy, in some special cases but in most cases, the passport, CD of chest X-ray and vaccination Documentation Worksheet are given to the applicants to be carried on the day of their interview and when they arrive at the port of entry.

Make 10 copies of that 2x2 Visa Photo JUST IN CASE.

Photocopy the baby book or vaccination record 5x JUST IN CASE.

You can bring a tumbler to be refilled with water because you can carry water but not food.
